  1. Update on Asian Games. Two weights have changed. It's now Goleij at FS 97kg over Azarpira and Sohrabi at GR 67kg over MR Geraei. Makes sense when considering Geraei's injuries. I would have like to seen Esmaeili though, he was the takhti winner at 67 after all.
  2. Because worlds are now hosted with all three styles together in the same event. The one in 2002 is strictly freestyle. Women aren't allowed to wrestle in the standardized singlets so it's simply impossible for worlds to be held in Iran right now. World cups on the other hand have been held in Iran much more recently and I believe one was supposed to be held in iran this year but got canceled. I also don't believe holding worlds in Iran would do much for the sport internationally. Wrestling is already popular in Iran, just because it's being held in Iran doesn't mean more Americans and Europeans will be tuning in.
  3. Mohsennejad dismantles Gharibyan who teched Nazaryan yesterday and qualifies Iran for Olympics. After the pin last year and now this, can't help but feel bad for him. Wonder who end's up going to Olympics for us. Mohsennejad, Dadmarz, Mohammadi, Nejati and a few others. No clear leader imo.
  4. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. There where no takedowns in the second. I was just saying Mohsennejad was controlling the mat yet he was called for passivity.
  5. All time reffing display right there. They gave Mohsennejad no chance at parre terre. Whatever. But wtf was that passivity call in the second. Mohsennejad was clearly the more active wrestler AND was controlling the mat. It apparently doesn't matter though they wouldn't want to hurt the uzbekis feelings by giving both points to the same guy. Poor Mohsennejad...
  6. This is the wrestling teams according to the official website of the Asian Games. I'm not sure how true it is because I've heard about both Goleij and Ghasempour for 97 but rest of it including greco team looks accurate to me. https://info.hangzhou2022.cn/en/results/all-sports/athletes.htm FS: 57: Ebrahim Khari 65: Rahman Amouzad 74: Younes Emami 86: Hassan Yazdani 97: Amirali Azarpira 125: Amirhossein Zare GR: 60: Meysam Dalkhani 67: MR Geraei 77: Amin Kaviyani 87: Naser Alizadeh 97: Hadi Saravi 130: Amin Mirzazadeh
  7. I remember Kayaalp lost to Kandelaki due to a fluky pin last year during a ranking event. This win was much more earned.
  8. Score was 2-2. Mirzazadeh got called for passivity for both rounds but no turns. He then gassed him out and got two late pushouts. One of which was in the last second. Congrats to Amin. The Olympic rematch will be legendary. Hopefully Lopez is there too.
  9. It's because Mirzazadeh was the more active wrestler in the first. Mirzazadeh was only called for passivity in the second. Riza in the second is not the same as Riza in the first, he would have surely turned him had it gone the other way. Mirzazadeh nearly got a pushout against him in the final minute of the match. that's what I believe he should focus on.
  10. It was essentially the same match as earlier today too. Oscar cam awfully close to getting a turn. This can't be the same tactic against Riza. Riza will 100% get a turn in the first period. Instead he should focus on tiring him out and getting a pushout. Riza's only weakness is his gas tank.
  11. Whoops thought he came low. Thanks for the correction
  12. That leg foul came at such a lucky time lol. I was expecting them to call passivity on Dadmarz but I guess there wasn't enough time. Well done to Dadmarz.
  13. If it ain't broke don't fix it lol. I'm betting it's the same exact gameplan against Oscar
  14. They do the quarter final matches of the same weights at the same time. A couple matches still left on mat D before Mirzazadeh will wrestle.
