There are reports that Aaron Brooks tested positive at the U23 for substances that are legal, but need to be reported.

his attorneys are trying to sort this out.  If they fail, Taylor may compete in the Olympics after all.

Valencia obviously just beat Azarpira up at 92 (i know you say it was the weight cut, but conditioning is not Valencia's strength either). He also was ahead of Taylor almost the whole first match (but lost 4-2) at Final X in 2022 the last time he met Taylor. 

I don't think Brooks is as good as Taylor was 2 years ago, but he's very, very good, and he will be the biggest challenge Yazdani has to face.

At this point, we don’t know where Yazdani is with his recovery, but I think it’s safe bet that he will not be at his best .

while I think Yazdani will be favored, we will know better after we see him in Hungary

They are just sending Yazdani to Hungary.  If he does well, he will to the  Olympics.  If not, they may have Ghassempour wrestle off Yazdani

brooks is a legitimate contender.  He was very successful in the NCAA representing Penn state, was DT’s training partner for the Tokyo Olympics and is a U23 world champion

Iran so far has only qualified for 65, 86, and 120.  I think Iran will most likely qualify for 74 and 97,  It would be nice to qualify for 57 just to gain experience, no chance of medal

Iran finished day 1 with 3 gold, 1 Bronze, and 1 5th place finish

Rahman, Yazdani and Nokhodi got the 3 golds, Mohammadian got the bronze in 97 kg.  Mohammadian did OK really, losing just to the world champion.

The undecided weights are 86 Kg and 97 Kg

For 86, they are waiting to see how Yazdani recovers from major surgery.  If he recovers well, it's him, if not, it will probably be a wrestle off between Ghassempour and Hadi Vaffaeipour.

In 97, I expect it to be Azarpira, now that Mohammadian lost to the Bahraini/Russian world championship.

If Yazdani does not recover well, and if Ghassempour can make weight at 86, I personally expect it to be Ghassempour.  Ghassempour vs Taylor would be a match of the Olympics.
