  1. I'll say my little buddy Tre Marler. You gotta give it to this kid. Was a semi state qualifier freshman year with a serious injury which caused him to not only have surgery but he was told he might not be able to get back on the mat. Sat out his sophomore year rehabbing, forced to transfer schools because of family health issues. Broke the line up this year and the only loss he has is against the KY kid Lampe. He's won sectionals and regionals. I'm not saying he is the best wrestler out there pound for pound and he has some tough kids in his class in Evansville but after all the crap the kid has taken on and working hard everyday to get stronger he deserves a shout out. Since his parent refuse to get on the board and puff out their chest for him I am gonna do it. This kid has something that can beat strength and technicals skills hands down. He has heart, desire, and determination. He wants it and it shows. I'm proud of you Teen Idol.
  2. My vote is on Marler's mom on this one! Known the lady personally for many years and know the story behind the move. I personally think her son is a terrific kid and he deserves to be respected just has he has always showed respect to his opponents. Did anyone read this kids article in the Courier this past Sunday. He openly admitted that he underestimated his competition and came out a little over confident. Gave his opponents credit for their strength and abilities. That's a sign of of great wrestler / kid that has been brought up the right way. I know for a fact they struggled with the desicion to move for over a year, finally when her mom got too sick the family sat down and made the decision together. Kudos to the FC team for welcoming the kid in and giving him his shot. The FC team has never been anything by polite and courteous to me and as Paula said in her post we have sat and had dinner with them numerous times because she has booked or rooms during off season meets for years. Personally, I know my son has no hard feeling about the boys who left to go to FC! I'll continue to hollar for a great wrestler anyday and that's what Tre Marler is a great wrestler and a top notch kid. Go Teen Idol!
  3. Well, I personally think that stalling is horsecrap! The object of wrestling is not to score until you get a lead and then dance and parade around the mat. The object of the sport and the reason we all love it is because it is 6 minutes of hard grueling work for 2 guys that are trying to prove their superiority by putting their opponent in enough pain that he will roll over to his back and lay there! I've never told my kid to "stall his butt off" nor do I believe I would ever be able to respect a coach who said that to my kid or any other! You dance in a SQUARE and you better work your butt off in the CIRCLE! You have 6 minutes to show everyone you are a contender and if you work your butt off and win by 1 GREAT! But if you got the lead and then ran faster then the other guy maybe you should join the cross country team! You got 6 minutes... Go hard or go home! Win or lose... When you walk off that mat you better have left everything there on it! I'm just saying!
