  1. Matt that sounds great I will help anyway that I can. I think that once all the kinks get worked out everything will work itself out. Its hard to put together teams, anyone that has ever done this knows that. As far as coaches. I agree the most qualified should get the nod. However, I do think that the Elementary champ (Team coaches) and runner up should be looked at first and if they fill there is someone better and they are willing to coach than that is up to that coach to give up his spot. I would really like to see Indiana's finest fill the gold team. I think Indiana has just as good as wrestlers as any other teams out there, we just need to figure all this out, and put all the pieces together so we can show the rest of the US. We can discuss this more face to face. Congrats and thanks to all the Indiana teams (coaches, wrestlers and parents) for all the hard work you guys have put in. I think all the teams from Indiana represented the state very well.
  2. I personally think that if ISWA did this by state placement (results from ISWA State) that you would have a better chance of getting all the best kids on the same team. I also think you could make this so if you have a novice 80lber and a Intermediate 80 that might be close to the same claiber you could then have a wrestle off for that spot ( so on and so on). The Middle School Duals Team is set up this way, and I feel that this is the best way you can go about something like this. There are no feelings to hurt or anything like that, if you place 1st or 2nd you make the Gold and Silver Team. Seems pretty easy to me, and really fair. Then if other Indiana kids want to wrestle they go on the other teams. Just my point of view I am sure that there are some bugs that would have to be worked out, but it just seems fair. I also think the coach for this team should be the coach that wins Elementary Team State. The second place coach gets the silver team and on and on.
  3. Matt I am sorry if you thought that I was trying to personally attack you or Danny in anyway... I never meant to do that... We have wrestled on a lot of the same teams and I know both of your and Danny's kids are great wrestlers... I also know that come state time we will be wrestling your full team... Here is the Problem I have... It just seems to me like all the small clubs out there are going to have a hard time competing with these rules... I know that Columbus might have a lot of people that live here, but wrestling is still a fairly new sport to kids down here... Our club itself is fairly new and we just dont have the numbers... That goes for a lot of rual clubs... I think that it is great that you guys have the numbers you have and I wish we did also. However, this is where the issue lies.. Maybe I am speaking out of line but I think that a lot of the smaller clubs are simply going to stop participating in Team State because they know they cant compete with the larger schools... Maybe they could for 8 or 9 weight classes, but forfiets are going to kill them... The 30 mile rule seems like it has to benefit the Indy area schools because there are more clubs and more kids to chose from. This is what I think needs to happen we all need to sit down and figure out how to make this truely fair. Maybe we make forfiets worth 3 instead of 6. Or maybe we take and average of how many kids are on each team and if your team has 8 and a smaller team has 6 you go by the points of 7 kids. Just some quick ideas I have thoght about and I am sure others have good ones as well. I really think though that you should be able to fill your roster with 4 kids from outside your club from within the state. I dont think you should take spots from kids that already have been wrestling, but if you have empty spots you should be able to fill those. I dont think that you can rob other clubs with these picks, but if you have kids that are not going to be able to wrestle why not get them mat time... That is what this is really all about is getting kids mat time against other good kids. I really believe if we dont do something we are going to make this a battle where small clubs will do something else and that will lessen the amount of possible great youth match ups. I just think it is all of our responsiblity to try and make this better for those who follow. Look foward to see you all at state should be some great wrestling...
  4. I guess what I dont like about this rule is that most rual clubs dont have the numbers as that of the bigger (indy) schools... And now with the addition of the 30 mile rule they will have an even bigger advantage... Im not sure there is even a club within 30 miles of us.. Yet there are all kinds of clubs within 30 miles of most Indy schools... So Danny I have to say that it is not a gift from the ISWA... I see how it bennefits you guys a lot... But for most of the smaller cubs out there it just got that much tougher... I know we have a lot of holes on our team that we jut cant fill. So we did pick up 3 kids out of area to fill holes that we had.. These kids were taking spots that had no wrestlers in them, and the kids from other areas had no team... Now all of a sudden Avon has two teams...How many matches had the Lane boys wrestled for Avon before state??? Just curious I know that you will go to High School there but what is the difference between you joining the club for state and clubs picking up kids to fill holes... I really think the ISWA needs to look into this and fix this problem... Seems to me that now all the big schools will have a monopoly on the system.
