Brooks lost to a tough Michigan kid by DQ, from a questionable call.
Not trying to stir up to much drama just want to get the facts straight, but I heard it was because he punched the other kid. Is that true?
-
What warrants taking Brooks over Phillips? Was it the dominating 9-0 match that Phillips never lost control of or was there something else? I'll take a Todd Phillips finals with Phillips winning his third title.
-
Better hope Phillips is on the other side of the bracket
-
I think New Castle is the toughest...so much depth too.
-
I know Chance is going to have to wrestle his a$$ off to beat both Tatum and Gadiant...just a sleeper pick of mine
-
I don't disagree with you but it was still fleeing the mat
-
That was not fleeing the mat. McKinley was attempting to get away and they just happened to be wrestling at the edge. It could have happened anywhere on the mat.
You're right it could have happened anywhere, but it didn't. It happened on the edge, and McKinley should have been hit for fleeing the mat.

130: Harvey Ca, Parham Car, Bova PM, Campbell Leb
135: Kieffer Ron, Roberts BG, Moore FC, Miller TC

That was not fleeing the mat. McKinley was attempting to get away and they just happened to be wrestling at the edge. It could have happened anywhere on the mat. Kieffer likes to wrestle on the edge, so McKinley didn't have a lot of options in my opinion. Great job Jared!
McKinley was the one that went to the edge of the mat every time. And as I said ealier that since the ref didn't call fleeing the mat, he should have blown his whistle and stopped the action and brought them both back to the middle.

Here are possible ticket round matches at New Castle that I think could be good ones
103: Witten BD vs Branson Alex, Maggord RU vs McGinley Ron
112: LeCount PM vs Price Tech, Todd PH vs King Ron, Snyder HSE vs Gettinger CO
119: Farrell GC vs McGinley Tech, Campbell NC vs Julien Leb, Venezia CA vs Moss BD
125: Catron NC vs Kieffer Ron
130: Harvey CA vs Handley NE, House CO vs Johnson LN
135: Tatom HSE/Miller TC vs Gradiant NO, Corsaro CA vs Roberts BG, Woodall CO vs Klinesmith PM/ Moore FC
140: Rattay LN vs Rose NC, White WF vs Walker Alex/ Davenport BD, McCoy FC vs Pyke TC
145: Scuria CAR vs Blanton Alex/ Riedling WC; Decker NC vs McClurg BG
152: Johnson TC vs Irick HSE, Johnson PM vs Gesell UC, Frauhiger ZV vs Bowers NO
160: Hutchinson EC vs McGinley GC
171: Masengale PM vs Brown EC
189: Fletcher CE vs Schaeffer WF
215: Moefield NC vs Balbach MV
285: Uhls SH vs Melby WF, Brown EC vs Wallace SV/ Thigpen LC, Howard FF vs Decker BG
These are possible match-ups at New Castle that could be interesting.....makes for a great argument for wrestle backs at semi-state
-
Was it freestyle of greco? I thought it was greco. I think Price beats LeCount pretty easily in the ticket round. Then Phillips dominates on his feet vs Price.
-
I thought it was a very good match between the two. Kieffer pushed most of the action and Mckinley scored off of counters. The only problem I had with the match was in the third period. IMO Mckinley should have been hit for fleeing the mat and a point awarded to Kieffer, which would have tied the match at 3-3. And even after that point in the match, Mckinley was three feet off the mat. The ref should have blown his whistle and brought the kids back to the middle to reset with the score being 3-2 in favor of Mckinley. That was my only complaint. Great match though and can't wait to see it again next week.
-
I really like it. I think you should talk to as many coaches as you can and see how many of them would back this, then send it into the IHSAA to see if they go for it. Wahoo for you!
-
Balbach from Mt. Vernon was beaten at sectionals last week by Tucker from Roncalli
-
I was thinking there senior year...good call!
-
Wright and Eppert didn't meet up until Semi-State but it was always a great match between these two
-
Fuller will finish second at 119. Not sure if he wrestled the Hagerstown kid at TEC but Fuller walked through that easily...I might even be bold enough to make an upset pick and take Fuller over Campbell
-
Wrestling will still take place...yes there is a two hour delay. As for the weight allowance, in the winter bulletin it talks about what to do in a situation like this one, where schools are out for several days. Since not every school was in session today (friday) then there should be a maximum of an additional two pounds..ie 137 wrestlers can weigh in at 139. Hope that helps. I would contact Perry Meridian just to check and see what they say.

I didn't think there was anything illegal in the video.

Typical of them to not wrestle the best wrestlers when avoidance can be used.
Don't knock that kid without knowing what happend....he was injured...there was no reason for him to injure himself to a point where he couldnt wrestle next week.

112: Phillips 11
119: Nelsen 10
125: Wright 10

To say Ayersman is to physical for Campbell is funny. I am not sure if you have seen Campbell wrestle or not but I have and I find it hard to believe he could be much more if any more physical than Campbell. Besides you all are counting your chickens before they hatch.
I have seen Campbell wrestle and I have seen him on his back this year against a good wrestler, but nowhere near the talent level of Ayersman, so yes I do this he is going to be more physical than Campbell.
-
No love for Phillips? I think he is right up there...very good all around...I would say he has an edge over Tsirtsis by just a smidge..but both are better than Sliga IMO
