  1. This is a nice addition to the site.  My personal opinion is that I would not rank a wrestler that has not won an individual high school state title very high, especially this early in the season.  The top five could probably be in ranked in a few different orders.

So you would rank national success behind in-state success?  I guess it is where you put your priorities.  Neither is wrong, but I'll put national credentials over state any day of the week.  To a college coach placing at a national tournament such as Fargo, NHSCA Nationals, the Super 32, etc weighs heavier than winning a state title.

  2. The thing we were talking about is how to rank, national vs. state success.  Harper's 3 titles are unmatched, but how does that compare to Eppert's 2 AA honors at Fargo or Wright winning Fargo?  My experience is the national success will supersede state success.  I had a 2X regional qualifier get a letter from IU this fall because he placed at Fargo this summer.  My state qualifier didn't get anything.

  3. Since I get asked this quite frequently, I will finally post the story behind my name.  Feel free to add the story behind your name.

Back in college my nickname was Crazy Joe or CJ for short.  It was because, believe it or not, I was really quiet and everyone would say I would go crazy some day.  So one day after practice a bunch of people were hanging out in the locker room talking about Y2K and how the world was going to end.  Quickly thinking, I stated, "you shouldn't be afraid of Y2K, you should be afraid of Y2CJ."  My original name on the old EzBoard was Y2CJ until I forgot the password and then added the 41, which was my weight class in college(141).

There you have it!  I also love when people try to find me they state Y2XXX, with the XXX replaced with all 28 letters of the alphabet. :)

  6. Ok I was just curious.  I can't wait to hear all the grumblings this is going to cause now at the IHSWCA meetings.

Are they going to be mad that some people want to promote Indiana wrestling some more and give the kids and coaches that work their butts off recognition for their hard work?  I find that pretty petty personally.  I offered to help, but my offers weren't taken in until yesterday after this site was created.

  7. You're lucky I have about 3 million other things on my plate right now to discuss class wrestling!

If you look at the stats I posted, I also did a breakdown with the top 5 extremes(both ends) taken out.

You have to remember the team with the most state qualifiers in the past 11 years is Mater Dei who is a small school.  They have had 84 state qualifiers, which is 3.4% of all state qualifiers.  The next highest school is Lawrence North with 58.
