  1. So first off you are making excuses for your son almost getting beat and likely could have been pinned if it was not for some antics that distracted the referee.  Then you are saying that this kid would never been on your son's level?  Wow, that is a bold statement to say.  Hurford won the first period fair and square and you want to bash the young man, that is pretty low for an adult.

I don't have any of the alleged incidents on tape because I was only in Hurford's corner for three of his six matches.  I do however have on tape where you are vehemently cheering for Hurford to get beat.  Now I could see that if it was a Perry Meridian or another Indianapolis wrestler, but someone from Pioneer?  Would you like me to post that link too?  You are supposed to be the adult here and after this weekend, I would say that the 15 year old kid acts like more of an adult than you do.  In every match that I was in Hurford's corner he shook the other coaches and his opponent's hand.  I know he comes from a program that he would be severely reprimanded if he did not do that not only by his coaches, but his father.

  2. From the text of the rule

This requirement can be waived provided the student can demonstrate that she did not participate in the minimum number of season contests because of illness, injury, ineligibility or because of circumstances beyond the control of the student, such as the cancellation of a contest(s) or the failure to qualify for a spot on the roster.

I am guessing that means earning the varsity spot.

  3. It did pass at the last meeting, here is the rule

    14. Rule 50, Section 4 Page 82

In order for a student to qualify for participation in the IHSAA tournament series in an

individual sport (cross country, golf, tennis, swimming & diving, track & field and

wrestling) the student must have participated, during the regular season in a minimum of

25% of the authorized season contests in that sport. This requirement can be waived

provided the student can demonstrate that he did not participate in the minimum number

of season contests because of illness, injury, ineligibility or because of circumstances

beyond the control of the student, such as the cancellation of a contest(s) or the failure to

qualify for a spot on the roster.

    Rule 101, Section 4 Page 98

In order for a student to qualify for participation in the IHSAA tournament series in an

individual sport (cross country, golf, gymnastics, tennis, swimming & diving, track & field

and wrestling) the student must have participated, during the regular season in a minimum

of 25% of the authorized season contests in that sport. This requirement can be waived

provided the student can demonstrate that she did not participate in the minimum number

of season contests because of illness, injury, ineligibility or because of circumstances

beyond the control of the student, such as the cancellation of a contest(s) or the failure to

qualify for a spot on the roster.

Basically it says they must participate in 25% of the allowable matches, UNLESS there is illness, injury, ineligibility or failure to qualify for a varsity spot.

  4. I have been messing with the layout of the main page of the site and curious what the public thinks of it.  My main concern is highlighting multiple stories at the top like this layout does.  I think especially during the season, some stories get pushed to the bottom if not highlighted.

  5. Now that I have some free time I will be updating the website with some new features that people have asked for during the past five months.  This is the first of a few features that I plan to add during the summer.

If you have noticed there are now little RSS feed icons next to each different forum category.  An RSS feed is a standardized format for retrieving news, updates, and other media on frequently changing websites.  You can add an RSS feed to different websites such as iGoogle or MyYahoo, so that you do not necessarily have to visit the website(this one in this case) to find an update.  You can also use the information on your personal website.  There are numerous different ways to format the RSS feeds from the messageboard and if you are interested in using it and need help, feel free to ask me.

You can get more information on RSS feeds from this links

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)

    http://www.whatisrss.com/

Along with that you will notice on the main page http://Indianamat.com that there is now a listing of the last 10 posts on the forum.  This is for quick reference when you visit the main site.

  6. Warren Dad,

Have they made a decision on who is the next coach at Warren yet? I have heard rumors about the New Pal's Coach, is there any truth in that?

    Coach Brown,

I do not think there is any chance of coach wingler of new pal to go anywhere but new pal

Thats what many people said about Cael Sanderson and we all know what happened there.

  7. Frank was in a car accident last week and is currently listed in critical condition, but improving.  Many people in NE Indiana know him and his son from many tournaments in the area.  Here is an article about him from the local newspaper.

Cromwell accident victim improving but still critical

Friends start a fund for donations to Iddings family

By BOB BUTTGEN (Created: Thursday, April 30, 2009 6:10 AM EDT)FORT WAYNE ? Frank Iddings, a Cromwell man who was seriously hurt in an Allen County traffic accident on April 23, is making some progress but is still listed in critical condition at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Iddings? condition has stabilized over the past couple of days, according to family members and friends.

Iddings was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman at Parkview Hospital.

Iddings? Chevrolet Tahoe truck was struck by an SUV driver who allegedly ran a stop sign on Franke Road in rural Allen County, at about 9 a.m. on April 23.

Friends have established a bank account for the Iddings family. He and his wife Joanne have three children. A long recovery period will be necessary for Iddings, who is an assistant football and wrestling coach for West Noble schools. His wife is a West Noble bus driver.

Donations for the Frank Iddings family can be taken to the Taper Lock Credit Union at 336 East Lake St., in Topeka, or mailed to Taper Lock Credit Union, P. O. Box 10, Topeka, IN 46571. Be sure to mark them for the ?Benefit Fund for Frank Iddings.?

Iddings has gone through multiple surgeries and more surgery may be necessary. He suffered a broken back, crushed ribs and other injuries. Doctors had to remove his spleen, and part of one of his legs had to be amputated.

Through a family friend, Joan Iddings offered this message to the community: ?Whenever you get a free moment, please say a prayer for Frank and our family. You may also feel free to stop by the hospital and spend some time with the family.?
