Feel free to add to this list, thanks!

  2. I believe the addition of two wrestling programs to the state has helped tremendously.  Trine is going into their fifth year as a program and Calumet College of St. Joseph is starting a program next year.  Give Coach Vega a couple years and he will be pulling in some of the top talent from not only da Region, but the whole state.

I think in the past we have had just as many kids go on to wrestle in college, but the announcements were scattered around different websites such as Intermat, WrestlingUSA, etc that we never had a complete list.  I have been astonished that so many kids and parents are emailing me with the announcement of them wrestling at the next level.  Just as I think it is slowing down, I get a bunch more emails or PM's about kids wrestling at the next level.

Congratulations and good luck to all of these wrestlers that will not only continue their wrestling careers, but continue their educational career also.

  3. Here is his obiturary from the newspaper.

CROMWELL ? On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, Frank Iddings Jr. entered Heaven to be with his Lord for eternity.

He was born April 19, 1969, to Franklin G. Sr. and Patricia (Keister) Iddings at the Naval Air Station in Albany, Georgia.

On June 30, 1990, he married Joan Senter who survives in Cromwell along with their children Mandi Lee, Megan Joan, and Derek Eddie, all at home. Other survivors include his brothers, Charley of Albion, Bryan (Dorothy) of LaOtto and Leonard (Ginger) of Idaho, and a sister Betty (Scott) Gamble of Albion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, along with several aunts and uncles.

Frank graduated from Central Noble in 1987. During his school years, he was active in boxing, football, wrestling and bull riding.

From 1993-2005 he was a stock car driver at New Paris Speedway. He began his coaching career early in 2000 while coaching his children at T-ball. Most recently he was extremely involved with middle and high school football and wrestling. He loved ?his kids? and seeing them not always win, but grow and learn. But his greatest accomplishment was in June of 2006 when he gave his life to the Lord. Frank was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier, where he was a trustee. He often said his biggest regret in life was that he didn?t come to know the Lord sooner.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 709 Johnson Street in Ligonier.

Viewing will be Saturday, May 9, from noon to 3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Pastor Jimmy Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka.

Pallbearers will be Tom Marsh, Robbie Morgan, Wes Weimer, Jared Knipper, Tony Swank, Joey Jacobs, Gene Teel, Nick Beckam and Derek Iddings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Benefit Fund for Frank Iddings, P.O. Box 10, Topeka, IN 46571.

The Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier is assisting the family with arrangements.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.yeagerfuneralhome.com.

  4. Here is the rule from the IHSAA's by-laws

    b. Student-athletes may receive private lessons so long as:

    (1) they are not mandated, scheduled or paid for by the school;

    (2) no school practices or competitions are missed; and

    (3) no student from another school is participating in the lesson.

  5. Antonio Gayton wrestles for Northrop and Nick McAbee wrestles for Leo.  Its good to see wrestlers receiving positive press.

Pair aided by rugby team released from hospital  Greg Jones  High school sports editor

A couple who were helped by a local rugby team after a hit-and-run car crash were released from the hospital this week.

?They have no permanent injuries,? said Lt. Kevin Miller of the Middlebury Police Department. Miller did not release the names of the elderly couple.

The two people were helped by members of the Chargers Rugby Club after a hit-and-run car crash Sunday in Elkhart County.

Miller said there ?were still no leads on the identification of the driver who fled the scene.?

The Chargers Rugby Club ? high school players from Carroll, Leo, Snider and Northrop ? was traveling to Elkhart on Sunday morning to participate in the Midwest Rugby Festival when the team came across the couple?s overturned car.

The team stopped to help, with players pushing the car over enough for two of the team members to remove a man trapped inside the car.

Members of the club who assisted included Antonio Gayton, Vick Moyer, Andy Cooper, Matt Thomas, Mike Dagle, Brandon Merz, Alex Santilli, Nick McAbee, Chris Hufford, Matt Tester, Trevor Prindle, Tyler Powell, Steve Dody and Kevin Hastings.

Team members said they saw a car upside down on a road in northern Elkhart County about 9 a.m. Sunday. A woman, who had been driving, had gotten out of the car, but her husband was still inside. A tractor-trailer rig had struck the car.

Cooper said a half-dozen players pushed the car into a position where they could open a door. Gaytan and Moyer climbed in and freed the man.

A few minutes later, medical personnel arrived, and the team members continued on their way, having never gotten the names of the couple they aided.

  6. So first off you are making excuses for your son almost getting beat and likely could have been pinned if it was not for some antics that distracted the referee.  Then you are saying that this kid would never been on your son's level?  Wow, that is a bold statement to say.  Hurford won the first period fair and square and you want to bash the young man, that is pretty low for an adult.

I don't have any of the alleged incidents on tape because I was only in Hurford's corner for three of his six matches.  I do however have on tape where you are vehemently cheering for Hurford to get beat.  Now I could see that if it was a Perry Meridian or another Indianapolis wrestler, but someone from Pioneer?  Would you like me to post that link too?  You are supposed to be the adult here and after this weekend, I would say that the 15 year old kid acts like more of an adult than you do.  In every match that I was in Hurford's corner he shook the other coaches and his opponent's hand.  I know he comes from a program that he would be severely reprimanded if he did not do that not only by his coaches, but his father.
