  1. I dont wont 6 classes and neither does anyone else. Indiana is big enough to have 2 classes. I think making it to state out of 150 plus teams is still going to take a very good wrestler. I know older former wrestlers dont like to change but its not about them anymore. Its about the kids.

Boomer- There is no shame in being a Sectional or Regional Qualifier if you have given your all and done your best.

Not everyone should or deserves to be a State Qualifier. That is life.

  2. Coaching at a 1a school i will tell u if there were 2 classes and we had a couple kids make it to state on a regular basis it would have a huge impact. The school would get behind the sport more because administrator put money into winning programs. Also you would have more kids coming out for the sport because the see the success of the friends and classmate, so the program would grow and that would help wrestling overall. I can also guess that you would get alot more kids wrestling in collage and getting scholarships. Not everyone has  be a 3 time state champ and wrestle div. 1 to wrestle in collage. The more kids we get to come out for the sport and have success then wrestle in collage then come back to coach would onl help the sport. Sounds like a win win for the sport.

Where is sportsfangms? His editing skills are needed.

  3. so in other words, what was once a first round loser at the regional level may now be a state qualifier in the single A.  seems like a pretty good reason to not have classes for the individual tournament.

All Regional qualifiers should be able to call themselves State Qualifiers. Wait a minute, no they shouldn't.

Do your best and you're a winner in my book even if that means you lost in Sectional. Heck, anyone who has the courage to go out for wrestling and step on the mat is a winner in my book.

No need to ruin a great thing.

  4. I have not got a chance to watch him this year but I have heard he wrestling awesome ! I'm just being a little biased since lahue lives in my area. He a different wrestler from last year!

Ya, Lahue is a bad dude for sure. I watched him wrestle Hughes over the summer and he was very impressive.

I am in awe of Red and the way he is wrestling. He looks hungry to be a 4xer. I would be shocked if he went down this weekend.

  5. How exciting is this going to be. Lee gunning for one of the best to ever do it in Indiana history.

The. Place is gonna be rockin for that match and those guys are onna be jacked...cant wait

  6. In the corner with TandT, n Mathewsz by mat one

Ok. But will you be wearing your Perry, Roncalli, Warren, Mishawaka, or Cathedral shirt? Lol

If I see you (or Andre- would probably recognize him since I've seen him wrestle) I will introduce myself. Good luck to all and tell Pruitt his son is a tough dude and fun to watch. Looking forward to watching him tomorrow and the next two years.

  7. look back a few posts when you mentioned BG, LN, Elwood, FC...did you have another BG in mind other than Beech Grove? Which of our titles would we not have won, but for move in?

BG, LN, Elwood, FC, CG (152)

Spin it however u want Mr. Thornton.

Don't worry no ones taking your trophies away.

  8. Geez people....if it is such a sore subject and there is all of this proof there is an entire organization you can bring this up to otherwise you're all just sore losers.

    On Topic

I think its Cathedrals title to lose.

    Whatever you say bud.

Agree it is Cathedrals to lose, but rooting for Franklin for reasons listed above.

  9. I don't remember anyone saying anything about Riley coming here. I guess it became an issue when he became a state champion here. Cody is a Perry Meridian kid...he wrestled in our middle school. I think you may have the Center Grove moves going the wrong direction: it has been our kids going there...as for Corny, he lived in Perry Township last year and only wrestled at FC due to a personal issue and his success was only realized after he came here. As for Brandon, his family made a choice to send him here. Three years ago, only Cody and Brandon were varsity (of the wrestlers mentioned). That is a pretty thinly stacked deck with 1 move in. Two years ago, once again. only Cody and Brandon were varsity. Kids like Cottey, Kenny, Bova, McKinley, Masengale, 2 Coopers, Tasseff, Winfield, Johnson...all Perry guys...thats where we won those titles...last year we added Riley, who did win it all, but still Cottey was 5th, Bova 7th, Masengale 2nd, Lecount and Winfield both champions with our dreaded move in James finishing 5th. You say we stacked the deck, implying something nefarious. I say we made a state championship team just that much stronger. This team, this program has been built thorugh hard work and countless weekends competing and coaches there every step of the way. Don't attempt to sully that in any way.

Again, I have a great deal of respect for the program that has been built at PM through countless hours of dedicated coaches, parents, volunteers, former wrestlers, etc and the success is only beginning for you guys. BUT, you have had an added level of success by move-ins in my unbiased opinion. I understand you adamantly deny this and will continue to do so...so no need to respond...agree to disagree.

Btw- No one mentioned BG kid til now because you never claimed to win with homegrown talent til now.

Good luck to you and your team this weekend.

  10. why didnt you just hold it at the state finals could have the ceremony during the lunch break

I though about it, but my lovely bride wouldn't of found the venue as romantic as I would of.

That was ten years ago and like I said people are still mad!

Very few things are as important as wrestling, but this was one of em. Plus she's a great gal and allows us to celebrate our anniversary the following weekend so I can attend state finals again!

  11. But don't get me wrong...I have a ton of respect for Perry's program.

The amount of time and energy put in by Tont, Schoettle, and the whole Perry community is admirable and they deserve success. However, please don't deny you had a stacked deck the last couple years due to move-ins.

  12. I only mentioned math because you broached the subject...I'll let it go if you wish. I still fail to see my alledged arrogance. Pride in one's achievements is a hallmark of mankind, not something of which to be ashamed. With all due respect to C.S. Lewis, there are sins far worse than Pride...like harming a child or how about murder. I have always encouraged our kids to win with class because winners let their actions speak for themselves. But when someone insinuates that we can compete with "the big dogs", I like to respectfully disagree and use facts to support my argument. Now if the fact that we have won the last 3 state titles is a irritation for you, I can do nothing about that. I will not apologize for our success. Now if you could explain how we won with a "stacked deck", I would enjoy continuing this conversation. Finally, thank you for the prayers...the man upstairs must be listening because he is taking care of me.

Beech Grove, LN, Elwood, Center Grove, FC,

  13. Big Bob, I am pretty sure most of us on here are not delusional, we fully understand what is happening and we might even agree with the rules, but it doesn't keep us from rooting against teams that have transfers and rooting for a homegrown team like Franklin...not only because they are the best TEAM this year but also because the playing field is not even? Recruiting happens and you know it.  I have seen it first hand and to see a school like Franklin win is a big deal because a lot of the recent champs were not homegrown!

Every parent has the right to move their kid to the place that they feel is the best fit..for you it was Cathedral,  for others it could be Perry, Crown Point, and who knows in the future who it could be, but I will guarantee you that even though Bob Hasseman would take a nice move in, he he isn't looking for them like Cathedral is!  Just go through your roster and see what middle school they attended  and yes you do have the family names like Cosaro etc. but pretty sure no history with a lot of others..Is this wrong ..no but I am pretty sure if you were on the other side you would have a very different view and understand some of the animosity.

    Go Grizzly Cubs!

  14. I am not going to lie. I was so incredibly shocked that this is even a conversation that I found myself creating an account just so I could comment. Comparing Lee, at the present moment, to any other wrestlers freshman year when that other freshman has already completed their high school wrestling career is just ridiculous. I understand we lik to humor eachother and keep topics interesting but, and god forbid this happens, but what if Lee or Micic didn't even make it to the field house? Hit a patch of black ice on the way or what if one comes down w mono or what if one is hurt in practice this week etc. I in no way hope this happens and am looking forward to hearing this debate after this weekend but to compare who's had "the best freshman year to this point" is just silly in my opinion cuz who cares what uve done leading up to state, last I checked they didn't award state championships(like the one T-shirts won) for beating everyone through the season handily. They only give you the title after Saturday night when you've beaten the best the state has to offer.

All we have to go on right now is "to this point". Should we shut down the message board until after finals Saturday?

Btw- up to this point it is Lee. Tsirtsis did not have an unblemished record going in to state nor did he destroy everyone put in his path his freshman year "up to this point".
