Congrats on a hard fought, well earned victory.
Take it easy with the name calling SLD Champ.
The young man has a right to come on here and defend himself against people bashing him.
Congrats again Wilson, don't listen to any of these negative people.

Good match with brandon but everyone is saying i'm stalling and hating on me come to the mat and if he wanted to beat me he had 3 chances thanks for my supporters and thanks to all my doubters also............. sooooooo bye Indiana Brandon will have his state title next year ;D
Congrats on a hard fought, well earned victory.

Nick Dewig
Thanks TripleB.
BTW- Congrats on a great season at Madison.
-
Nick has a younger brother Joe(8th grader), that is sure to make some noise next year. Then I believe there are 3 more Egli boys. Clay, Kane and Reed are the others
I love the tradition at Mater Dei. Please bring back the old singlets.
Who is the assistant coach? Not Macke, but the other one?

I say boo. I want every state champion to do a back flip or break dance. I guess you also get mad when football players spike the ball?
Lol Madtown.
Yes, I do. Hand it to the official, thank your blockers and get off the field.

Coaches I beg you go home and teach these kids that act like wild untamed morons after they win to have some class. I understand clapping and even pointing to your fans it is an emotional time, but some of it is taunting. I will give an example from years ago so I don't single anyone out. A few years ago a senior who was an animal, beat a very young but also very good freshman(by a small margin) in the finals. Instead of just walking to the line fist pumping or clapping for his accomplishment, he decided he needed to go to the center of the mat and break dance. Now I was there and I can tell you not only did he take away from his victory by looking like a fool but it also cause people, myself included to regret chairing for such a person. So coaches and parents just please work with your young men on being adults they are almost there, you know!
Good post.
Did you see Devon Jackson after he won state in 2012? Textbook on how to win with class.

Only points scored against Moss the entire tournament were escapes. Beat Wagner in the finals. Very impressive tournament for this young man!
He wrestled great. Solid all the way around. He reminds me of one of his coaches...
Congrats to Wagner too on a great career.
-
Congrats to Hiestand.
Congrats to Vinny on an outstanding career. It was a pleasure to watch you wrestle. Good luck at Rutgers.

With all due respect to two very very good wrestlers- this match was a big let down.
It equated to one serious shot and ensuing scramble that lasted 5 seconds and was scored questionably.

Big Wes will be at the Top
Hard to bet against Bernard, he's too solid.
Oglesby havin a great tourney too, plus he's got 'the man' Gil Journey in his corner!
Smart money goes with Bernard though.

BRIAN WAGNER (41-4) - NEW PALESTINE vs. KATRELL MOSS (30-2) - WARREN CENTRAL
A rematch of last weeks semi state finals at New Castle won by Wagner 5-4. Moss has looked like a stone cold BA this weekend but I am going with my pre tournament pic, the poised and efficient Wagner. 5-4.
Isn't this a Sectional, Regional, Semi-State, State Finals Rematch?
I watched Moss win Regional at Perry and Wagner won last weekend. Who won Sectional? Not that it matters, it will be a battle tonight...too close to call.

JACOB COVACIU (45-4) - MERRILLVILLE vs. TOMMY CASH (46-1) - LAWRENCE NORTH
A bit of a surprise to most, these two finalist are still outstanding. Covaciu was ultra poised in his semi final win and knocked off favorite Lykins in the quarters. Cash is not very physically imposing but his positioning and instincts are excellent. I like Covaciu in a tight 2-1 match.
Cash convincingly.

Yep, he should be going for his third title, were it not for some bad calls in the Semifinal his sophomore year,

Is 10-3 a major now?

Ok one more and then I will stop monopolizing the thread...
Darden Schurg...he gets after it!
He was fun to watch. He wrestles with a chip on his shoulder and looks like a college wrestler.
He has a tough match this AM with Chandler Carroll which should be a good one to watch.
-
I've known Jake forever. I'm not gonna lie, it kinda broke my heart to watch that.
Tough loss for a very tough kid. Sinkovics handled himself with class after the match. He and his family should be proud of his efforts and sportsmanship.

One last reply on this topic.. Like I said earlier, I coach a small 1A school, one of the smallest. the kids on my team are very talented, work hard, listen to instructions, and have a lot of fun with the sport. But, I believe the main reasons that none of them are competing tonight are:
- None of them are extremely gifted naturally.
- They don't work hard enough in the off-season.
- Very few of them have any ISWA/HYWAY/Club experiance and those that do don't have much.
- Most don't have a great enough passion for the sport.
- Those that have the passion don't get the proper support at home.
None of these reasons have to do with us being a 1A school. Granted, the larger the school the more access kids have to clubs/camps etc.. But, if any one of my wrestlers really wanted to get to state they could do it barring injury. You've just got to have the proper commitment, the kids competing tonight have paid the price of admission.
Check out Jeff Scott, 1A school, won semi-state.. We don't need a classed individual state, we just need to get more kids to love wrestling enough to be willing to pay the price.
Great insight Hornet. Thank you for sharing your situation. I agree 100% with you.

First off, I'd like to add Quinn Harris although in defeat. What a heart that kid has to have, amazing. As far as good match, going with Jolas and that never quit attitude. Also have to add my personal favorite to watch Brendon Kelley, funk master.
+1
Max Dole looked very good.
Breyden "pocket rocket" Bailey is tough and fun to watch. (Borrowed the nickname from another Irish brawler Wayne McCullough)
Also- Kaine Lugibill is fun to watch even though he lost a close one.

How does he make top 8 but not top 16? Curious
Ahhhh...that's how!
I'm looking forward to finally seeing the young man wrestle tomorrow. Heard lots of good things (and not ALL of them were from DannyBell).
Good luck to all tomorrow.
Sorry to hear about Hudkins (best wishes for a speedy recovery)

I overheard someone behind me say "why are there 20s on his singlet and not 100s"! lol
If the guys got paid for their efforts yesterday, Cash would of earned all that money on his singlet. Solid wrestler who won with class.
