  1. Missing a couple of results from the Texas match...here is the full score...its too bad Indiana is forfeiting so many weight classes, especially with kids sitting on the bench waiting to wrestle freestyle at weights we are forfeiting for greco. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Match #3 7th Place Match: Texas 1 defeated Indiana 54-20

160 - Michael Wood (Texas 1) over Dezmen Goddard (Indiana) Fall 0:00

170 - Blake Williams (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

182 - Zac Francis (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

195 - David Willoughby (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

220 - Gunnar Larson (Indiana) over Christopher Lee (Texas 1) TF 12-2

285 - Alexander Cantu (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

100 - Isiah Delagdo (Texas 1) over Tyler Bowling (Indiana) TF 18-8

106 - Myles Thiergood (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

113 - Cameron Diep (Indiana) over Noah Saucedo (Texas 1) TF 12-2

120 - Tanner Kuketz (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

126 - Riley Jacobs (Texas 1) over Unknown (Unattached) Forf

132 - Luke Sheliessman (Indiana) over Anthony Jimenez (Texas 1) Fall 2:02

138 - Kai Holland (Texas 1) over Chase Wilson (Indiana) Dec 18-11

145 - Chase Roth (Texas 1) over Quinn Harris (Indiana) Fall 0:32

152 - Jose Champagne (Indiana) over Jordan Robison (Texas 1) Fall 0:41

  2. I count 4 Ill state champs, Swan, Minnick, Jurzak and Falconer. Indiana had just two

Plus illinois brought a few 2nd placers as well. All in all, great job by the indiana team. Special recognition to Sawyer Adams and Cory Hinkle for beating state champs. Huge pin by Morrow, too.Haha, sawyer miller from south adams, not sawyer adams

Nice job by the Indiana Seniors but let's look at the facts...Illinois' top seniors were at Dapper Dan putting it on the Western Pennsylvania All-Stars 33-10 as well as having 2 other top seniors on the USA All-Star team...while IL did bring 4 state champs, 3 of them were 1A champs which is IL's lowest division and would struggle to even place in the other two classes. Swan is a 3-time 2A champ and he is a stud. There were 4 2A representatives and 4 3A representatives and 6 1A representatives. Of the 3A kids two were 3rd place kids who both won their matches. Of the other two, one was fourth place and the 113 was not a state placer and was a late fill in because of an injury that occurred on the IL All-Star team that wrestled at Dapper Dan. Also I haven't seen anyone post the score of the second dual which was IL 36- IN 12. Just wanted to give a little more detail. Again nice job by the Indiana Seniors.

  3. Indiana fans might want to look away when this match takes place because its gonna be a blood bath. I'm not sure who has confirmed for the Illinois team but if they get their top seniors, Indiana might only win at one weight class. I would say 138 would be the only match that Indiana would be favored in and I see a ton of bonus points for Illinois. Tell the children to close their eyes because it's gonna be ugly!!!

  4. This is out of hand. This was a post congratulating an young man for his hard work and an awesome accomplishment.  Now, it has turned to this. This topic should be locked. If you want to start a redshirt debate, then do it elsewhere. I don't know the kid, but I am proud that an Indiana wrestler was very successful at this tourney. Great job youngman! I would be crushed if I were in junior high and worked as hard as Jose does, just to have a bunch of people rip me. I'm sure that he is a great kid. This is the youth board! C'mon, we are better than that.

    Thank you Very much!!!!

  5. It makes you look foolish holding kids back for athletics not edication no doubt they wrestle the younger kids good. If they have passing grades they should not be held back period. its called redshirting at the middle school level:l

    WC182Dad,

As I stated before, do your research on my son before you call me out.  I don't think that is too much to ask.  If you still feel the same then so be it.  But check it out before you call us out.  And just to confirm, I would put my son up against any high school kid in the state and feel confident he would hold his own.  There is more to parenting then making athletic decisions.  His academic success in high school is the number one thing I am concerned with.  As I said earlier, he was not held back for athletic reasons.

  6. Colombian Boys,

You don't know me, but my son has wrestled Jake Tucker and a hand full of other studs from Indiana.  A few months ago I posted on upcoming national tournaments and who was attending.  Mr. Tucker said that you have an extensive list of great tournaments that you attend.  Just wondering if you can post some of those.  I am looking to take my son to more national events for better exposure and to get him tougher.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  You can even pm me if you want.  Thanks!

    Coach Paul Eckert

    Jasper Wrestling Club Travel Team

    Coach Eckert,

I will post a list of National tournaments we will be attending this year when I get home tonight.  After I do, if you have any questions about them please feel free to contact me and I will be glad to tell you anything I know.

    Thanks,

    Tim (Jose's Dad)

  7. They are not wrestling Middle School State...and there grades are not any of your concern nor should they be a topic of this discussion board.  Ask around the wrestling community and those who know can give you background on my son.  I believe you know Brandi Cash and/or Tami Rypel and the can gave you a little more history.  Do your research before you call people out...makes you look kind of foolish!!!

  8. It amazes me that someone congratulates a kid on a fantastic tournament victory and others take that opportunity to take cheap shots at people.  Jose will be a 1st year cadet this year.  Some of those people questioning our decision have children that will be the same age when they are 8th graders.  The same age that most of his competition will be this year.  Jose was not held back for athletic reasons.  Our goal was to ensure Jose's academic success...Period!!!  People should do some research on my son and his history before they assume that it was for athletic reasons.  The only reason we considered sending Jose to high school this year was for wrestling reasons because we felt and his coaches felt he would be able to compete on that level.  We decided against it to ensure his academic success in high school and beyond.  I will be at most tournaments this year if anyone would like to continue this discussion with me in person rather than on a message board.

  9. I know Jose and Carlos Campagne are going...I'm pretty sure drew hughes, jake tucker and colton cummings are going as well.  This is a really great tournament...Jose and Drew both won it last year and jake took second.  Both Carlos and Colton should place high this year.

  10. No one mentioned the Schoolboy Duals from last week.  Rough go for our teams there but we did have a few solid individual results against some tough competition.

Regarding Schoolboy Duals, Indiana Gold Team placed 6th at Greco (lost tie breaker for 5th) and 9th in Freestyle winning the consolation bracket.  I would hardly call that a rough go.  I thought the teams did very well.  All the boys wrestled tough and it was a great team effort.

  11. Here is team New Mexico...

  12. I think everyone should get all of the facts before they judge people.  There are many factors that went into this desicion.  If anyone knows my son, then they know his background and that English is his second language.  We wanted to make sure that he was fully prepared for high school before he attends.  Just because he is a good wrestler does not mean he is totally ready academically, socially, or mature enough to attend high school.  It is a decision that my wife and I have discussed from day one and the decision was made easier when my son's best friends were going to stay in the 8th grade as well.  Parents have every right to decide what is best for their children and we feel we are making the best decision for our child.

  13. Just wanted to send a big thanks to Brandi Cash for putting together such an impressive team.  It was great watching these boys wrestle all day and what a great experince they had.  Glad my boys could be a part of it!!!

  14. I couldn't agree more.  This was the best wrestling experience my son has ever had.  I would recommend it to everyone.  My son really liked the camp and had a great experience wrestling.  He is excited about wrestling and wants to earn a trip back next year.
