Its not as much about money as it is coaches that sandbag during the team tournament. See the Eastern saga this year and numerous other times where a coach sent their JV kids to wrestle in the team tournament. Add to that they are not making enough money to make it feasible or worthwhile to put this event on. Why should the IHSAA go the extra mile and do a team state when the coaches don't care about it and they can just crown a champ at individual state?
So your saying that a team such as Indian Creek who placed 5th at sectional and were very close to winning the coaches trophy and if they would have won that they would deserve the team state championship? That is crazy...that doesnt make them the best team they just had 3 very good wrestlers not the best TEAM. Not taking anything away from IC, but they wouldnt have deserved a TEAM state championship. I wrestled in the individual state tournament 3 times and in the team state tournament 4 times and I would much rather wrestle at team state than individual state. You are with your team not just a few guys like you are at individual state and it takes a TEAM effort to win a title. We never won a team state championship but just wrestling at team state was probably the biggest thrill of my life. It seems to me like the people that are against it are the people that their teams have never been there or they havent been there to watch. IMO its a great thing that the IHSAA should not get rid of

Did Yorktown beat Bellmont by 30 ? I'm sure Penn-Bellmont will be much closer this time around , Penn by 6
I never said that Yorktown beat Bellmont by 30.....either way it will be much closer this time around should be fun to watch.
-
Pretty sure Penn beat Bellmont earlier this year.
So did Yorktown....
-
Tim Myers wrestled for IU and is now an assistant at Bellmont.
-
I would say Blanton over Binion or Goldman over Stevenson were much bigger upsets
-
There are 3 spots for the first place pick at 125
-
I have been coached by John since I was 4 years old. One of the most knowledgeable men ive ever met. A HUGE reason for the success of bellmont wrestling for all of these years.
The Friedt family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks! if you hear about Trevor Echartea from Elk Central at 130, please update. They arent doing a good job of updating brackets or notifying the listeners of the match winners.

Congratulations to Coach Faurote and the Bellmont Braves on punching their state ticket!!!!
-
stebing wrestling out of his mind up 14-6 after 2
-
What a match!! it is amazing what coach faurote can do to get his teams motivated. Bellmont better not think they are done because they have a very very tough carroll team to deal with....should be another barn burner.
-
10-9 steibing at the beginning of the third...heistand looking tired
-
Faurote dominates Vanhorn...the longer brooks gets to let that hand heal the tougher he is going to be to beat
-
Im sure he could even get down to 171, but what is the point of cutting weight when your the favorite to win at 215... ???
-
Ben Baker beat Brad Busse twice this week in wrestloffs so he will be wrestling 189 for Bellmont on saturday.
-
i will be the first to say carroll wins as a team!
Why am I not suprised.... :
