  1. I think Crown Point will be a force again with a great chance to win state. They have 3 state medalists returning in Roach, Tsirtsis, and Halsted(who was out due to surgery this past year). To add to the mix they have a state qualifier returning in Flamme. CP is definitely the region favorite for next year with 11 of 14 starters returning not too mention halsted who was out last year.

  2. Most  wrestlers play several sports while in high school. I know over half of my wrestling team at Crown Point were multi-sport athletes. Most of us did football and wrestling. but then there were the few that played football, wrestled, ran track or played baseball. I feel the argument about smaller schools having more multi sport athletes is false nowadays.

  3. I think this ones going to be close especially if Mishawaka has three starters out. If some of the CP kids don't give up too many bonus points this one can go to the wire. Good Luck to all wrestlers competing this weekend especially the Crown Point seniors. Hawk, Renn, Schurg, and Hannon give them Hell!!!!

  4. I'm a former Crown Point wrestler and I didn't shake hands then and I still don't in college/ my team doesn't. Coach Vlink is just practicing one of the things he did in college as a wrestler and is helping his wrestlers get ready for the next level. Shaking hands after a match is a false sense of sportsmanship. If you want to be a sportsman, then wait until you see the coach after the match/meet like when you seem him in the hallway to shake his hand. Now that would be true sportsmanship. Coach Vlink taught us to have the up most respect for our opponents and our opposing coaches. Not shaking hands eliminates disrespecting other coaches. 90% of the time wrestlers, especially wrestlers that lose, are really emotional during big matches and this is because wrestling is a sport of one on one competition. Thus, your emotions can take control of you and make you "disrespect" a coach. That's why not shaking hands with the opposing coach right after the match has concluded is a great idea, because no disrespect can occur.

Keep up the hard work bulldogs and get em next week at center grove!!!!!!!

  5. The state draw is definitely horrible. I know other elite wrestling state such as New Jersey seed their team state tourney. I think this would be a better way to distribute the best teams through the whole bracket. This years bracket is loaded on one side with Perry, Cathedral, Mish, and CP. Yorktown may be a tough team, but it seems that their way to the finals is paved for them cause of the draw.

  6. Good job dogs. They looked pretty dominant against a good merrillville squad. I don't know why Maldonado made some of the bumps that he did but it sure ended up worse than last time. Go get what's yours guys!

    Go Bulldogs!
