I hope this adds a little explanation on who has beaten whom, and lost to whom.
Mishawaka's best win might have been Lakeshore MI. ?????????

I agree...BUT, I can tell you that the world is no longer guided by common sense. If there were ever any doubt, it was all removed when a women spilled her Mickey D's coffee in her lap and it was someone else's fault. Fact is "we" (and especially shool districts) are motivated by CYA more than common sense.
I wouldn't necessarily say that is our motivation. But we REALLY need to consider the possible liabilities in all of our decisions.

SB Riley hosts a JV tourney this weekend that includes Mishawaka, Penn, Crown Point, Elk. Memorial, SB Clay, Jimtown, and several others. We use a 16 man bracket and battle it out until the final round- if a wrestler is at the 5 match limit, we call the last match a tie and award both wrestlers either 3rd or 5th place. Tough day of wrestling- 6 mats again this year and I promise to be done at a reasonable time.
Yeah.
My son was it that tourney. He actually got to the 5 match limit before the "Place" match. We knew going into that match that if he won, he tied for third, if he lost, he tied for 5th. He lost. His first two losses of the year. Had to cut to much weight to quickly. Glad Christmas season is over.

We have been having some issues and I thought I fixed it.... I guess I broke it.
Yep.
I do I.T. for a living and that is ALWAYS the fear. You get working on a problem, and it just keeps getting worse. Fortunately it doesn't happen to me very often. But that fear is always there because it DOES happen on occasion.

Glad to hear he's okay. He was having a good season but this probably ends it. You don't want to mess around with a neck injury. Is he a junior? Hopefully he can come back and have a good senior season.
Yes.
Collin is a Junior. Finished second in Regionals as a Sophomore and we have/had big hopes for him this year. We'll see what happens.

What happened to Witous? and Corpe?
Witous didn't make weight according to the SB Tribune.

Coach Harper has done an awesome job at Penn since he has arrived. He doesn't only have the numbers but also has quality kids who have learned to love wrestling and are quite skilled. It won't take long before Penn beats Mishawaka in a dual.
See.
This is what I'm talking about.
We all know that "Just" numbers doesn't mean anything. But if you can coach the quality out of those types of numbers. The sky could be the limit. I'm not predicting anything on this thread. It's just that those types of numbers can be real scary with a good coach. And it sounds like Penn now has one.
-
When we were at a JV tourney last year, we struck up a conversation with some Penn parents. They informed us that Penn had 170 kids out for the wrestling team. 170!!!!!!
My question is: "In a few years, with those types of numbers, how will anyone in the area be able to compete with the Kingsmen?"

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT??????
This is close to the PERFECT movie.
YOU get to watch wrestling, with a great Lunatic Fringe soundtrack, and your WIFE/GIRLFRIEND/PARTNER gets a love story..
This seems like a win/win situation to me!

I love wrestling and hate that the IHSAA keeps voting down proposals that will help our sport as much as anyone here. However, I think our state govt. has more important things to do than take up time with this. I'd much rather see them tackling property taxes, education funding, jobs, etc., than high school sports.
Ditto on that.
I emailed Craig Fry requesting that he vote "No" on HB 1733.
He responded with a couple of emails. He too has it in for the IHSAA. Some issue with his son on the Penn Baseball State Championship team.
Anyway. I think that from his responses, there are a number of legislators that are not very happy with the IHSAA. They may have dodged the bullet this time, but I hope it is a shot over the bow that makes them change their arrogant attitudes and listen to what others have to say.

It would be interesting to see how the final 8, and 4 would break down.
Do you have the time? ;D

Why would someone even start this topic?????

I too have been communicating with this father. He will wrestle 119 for the rest of the year. Could have last year too. Won't this put another bit of serious competition in the 119 class? Tony still has the strength of a 125lber now in 119. Should be interesting to see how things go.
Good luck Tony.
