  1. There's an Applebee's on SR 3.  On Broad Street is Durham's.  It, in my opinion, has the best food in town.

Top Hat Two has the best pizza but you can only get it to go.  Top Hat on Broad and 25th has pretty good food.

Lida's Restaurant is terrible.  Out on 38 is Route 66 Diner.  It's decent too.

  2. Thanks to all who made this happen, BUT why not wrestle their regional first round opponent? They should have qualified! I thought three schools missed the Jay County regional, from the matchup it looks like four????

It was all the wrestlers from Winchester, Monroe Central and Union City.  Some of Randolph Southern's wrestlers made it, some didn't.

  3. ?Extreme conditions sometimes require extreme measures and while I?m not 100% comfortable with this solution, it appears to be the best option for those student athletes in Randolph County and in the best interest of the tournament series.?

    Bobby Cox

    Assistant Commissioner

Indiana High School Athletic Association, Inc.

I wonder if he's 86% satisfied with this solution.  ::)

  4. New Castle does wrestle a good schedule. The kids on the team with good records, have went up against anyone the other teams throw on the mat against them. Those same kids beat the Roncalli kids. New Castle won seven matches in this bout, and gave up a forfeit at 171 pounds. I don't think anything came back to bite them, just Roncalli got more pins in this one.

Connor Mullins wrestled Clark from South Dearborn, who is ranked fourth, and he absolutely dominated him. He did the same to Keiffer (ranked No. 2 at 125 pounds). No reason to knock the NC wrestlers.

I didn't mean for this to come across negatively and I certainly am not knocking New Castle's wrestlers.  I just think they could do themselves a favor and try to toughen up their regular season schedule.  They wrestle a ton of matches so lets try to make as many of those against quality opponents as possible.

Looking at Campbell, he's only faced three ranked wrestlers out of 50 plus matches.  McKinley from PM has faced nine ranked wrestlers.

Mullins has faced two ranked wrestlers out of 50+ matches.

I just wish NC would look to upgrade their schedule a little bit.  I think, while some of their wrestlers might not have 38-2 records anymore (not talking about Campbell and Mullins who are capable of beating anyone in the state), they'd be better prepared for the tournament.  Just my opinion.

Here's hoping Mullins and Campbell can bring home two state championships in a couple of weeks!

  5. COngrats to Ronacalli on another stunning win. I would say  extra effort won them this won. Good luck to all wrestlers in the Indiv. tournament where some that loss today can avenge there loses and get to Conseco. :)

Not really stunning.  New Castle has a lot of pretty records but don't get out and face a lot of great competition throughout the year.  That comes back to bite them when they have to face tough kids like Roncalli has.

  6. I have to agree Coaches should always shake the hand are a  good word. Though the New Castle kids are the same way. It should be a rule

I believe the decison was made for New Castle's kids to stop shaking hands with opposing coaches after matches after a couple of opposing coaches had some unflattering remarks for Trojan wrestlers.  This move was made to prevent any type of altercation.

  7. is the New Castle coliseum part of the actual school or is it something else?

It is not a coliseum but rather a FIELDHOUSE. No it does not sellout anymore, it probably has been over a decade since it was last sold out. I believe in in 2006 when New Castle, returning 3A state champ, faced Muncie Central, returining 4A runner-up and Archrival, there was like 6,800 but I haven't seen much more for just a basketball game  >:( , I hope this saturday we have a good showing for these wrestlers  ;D, should be a lot of fun :)
