  1. The "coaches trophy" goes to the team that "wins" the state individual tourney under the old scoring rules.

Thank you oldcoach to bad it isnt based on other criteria Atwood def. deserves some recognition for what he has done with his program!!!

  2. Mike Atwood from Delphi deserves it!

I agree 100% but I wasnt sure of the criteria since all these other guys were talking about how many placers these other coaches should have. Coach Atwood is taking a school with an enrollment around 500 and taking 5 to state has to be the smallest public school to do what he has done he also has the first team to qualify for state in anything in the schools history, and he has done most of this practicing in an old janitors closet!!! CONGRATS to Coach Atwood and his staff and GOOD LUCK boys the next 2 weekends!!!!

  3. From DelphiHwt

I agree 100%  a ref should not decide the outcome but when you have 1 kid doing all the off. and going at the other kid you have to enforce the rules I agree 2 in :30 sec. is bad but he should have called it earlier and it wasnt like the match was over and he gave him the point to win it they went into OT and decided it on the mat!

Hmmmmm... If you are indeed the Delphi HWT, you appeared to be somewhat of an expert on stalling yourself in that last match. Not one attempt at a takedown in six minutes  ;D

First of all I am not the current Delphi HWT I have been out of school for 7 yrs anyway there was not a whole lot of off in that match at all but at least Wes was trying his under and over hooks instead of backing up and blocking the entire time!!!! not saying Wes was doing all he could but those 2 were very evenly matched and when your a HWT and evenly matched alot of times it is the first 1 to make a mistake and the 1 that lands on top wins so they were both wrestling defensively!!!!

  4. Trace did look like he had a rough day. But i=on the other hand I don't think a ref should decide the out come of a match 2 penalty pts in the final :30 thats rough.

  5. Tom Ginter- Penn over Mike Dubes- Delphi.  135 in 2005.

Ginter got third in his Regional and Dubes was undefeated.

I think the score was like 11-10 or something nuts like that.  And Tommy got a reversal with 20 seconds or so to go.

Wow u had to bringb that painful memory back dubes was my teammate

  6. I am not gonna make any predicitions cause I know if you made it this far it is not a fluke and you deserve it!! and I know that on anyday most of these kids can be beat!!

What I am gonna do is say this don't count any of these Logan Reagional kids out they are very well coached and wrestle with alot of heart. The coaches in this area deserve alot of respect and alot of thanks Coaches Like Atwood, Spray, Hardy, Van der a, West Central, North White, Carroll just to name few ( sorry if I didnt mention your name or school) These coaches dedicate their life to this sport in small schools in central Indiana where basketball gets all the glory and AD's usually shove the wrestling team into a janitors closet and forget about them because they dont produce any revnue. These Coaches not only build great wrestlers but great men by teaching them pride, heart, dedication, sacrafice, responsibility, and accountability stuff that alot of kids never get taught in school these days!!! So my hat is off to all of the coaches in this region and across the state!!! Your Sacrafices are appreciated!!! If it wasnt for such a great wrestling coach I would not be the man I am today, so thank you Coach Atwood and staff you all know who you are. I only wish when my son is old enough to wrestle that he has a coach that is as great as the coaches in this area!!!

That being said I hope to see everyone from this area up at Mville cheering on all the kids from this area even if you don't have a kid up there! they all deserve our support they have worked very hard to get to this point! and for some of them it may be their last wrestling match ever!

P.S. sorry for any misspelling and the poor grammar should have paid more attention in english class lol

  7. Who cares about the rankings....

Start this thread back up after the state meet and that will give us our true "toughest semi state".

    My prediction...Merrillville.

I agree 100% alot of coaches don't report for rankings and what about kids that had injuries and had to set out for a good portion of the season! so let them wrestle and see which semi state has the most champions

and I will go with Merrillville too!!!
