  1. MDinIraq,

I'm not exactly sure what kind of info you would like on the WHS facilities, but I'll do the best I can to try and explain what we have.

Essentially we have one main gymnasium and an athletic fieldhouse.  The fieldhouse is where we host our 16 team dual tournament on the first weekend in December.  In that part of the venue we normally put 8 mats down for our dual tournament, however I'm not sure if the IHSWCA will utilize all 8 mats in that section or not.  There are bleachers in the fieldhouse for spectators.  Basically the fieldhouse is 4 basketball courts in width.  About 100 feet from the entrance to the fieldhouse is the entrance to the main gym, so both parts of the facility are very close to each other, separated by a concession area.  Fans will be able to easily walk from one part of the tournament to another and grab some food on the way.

So is WHS ready? We certainly hope to be.  We are looking forward to hosting the event this coming December.   I know that are athletic directors are excited to be part of this and worked very hard with the IHSWCA to get contracts out, etc.  I know that there will be several meetings in coming months with the IHSWCA and WHS to ensure that the event will run smoothly and be a positive experience for teams, officials, workers, parents, and fans.

I hope this helps somewhat, again not sure what details you were interested in.

  2. Sandan,

Thank you for the kind words on Lukas Schaeffer.  Your words about Lukas are perfect, his hard work and character did translate into an amazing senior season.  He is an incredible young man, and everyone at WHS is proud of the season/career he had for the Shamrocks.  His work ethic is second to none and we are very appreciative you took time to recognize him.

Chad-Thank you as well!  Best of luck to Matt next season.  What a class act he was on Saturday morning!

  4. Indyshred,

The top six in each weight class are seeded.  The asterisk is placed next to the last wrestler drawn out who is not seeded.  If a seeded wrestler withdraws from the tournament for some reason, his replacement would become the 6 seed with all other seeds moving up one.  For example if the 3 seed is replaced, the 4 seed goes to the 3 seed, the 5 seed goes to the 4 seed, and the 6 seed, moves to the 5 seed spot, with the replacement for the 3 seed moving into the 6 seed spot.  If the seeded wrestler has no replacement, then the asterisk wrestler moves into the six seed spot, and the forfeit for the replacing school goes to the asterisk.  I hope that helps.

  10. TTipton,

In response to your question, yes I would be in favor of classing a team state (I grew up in Ohio and we had 3 different classes).  I'll be happy to help with anything I can whether it be in our facility or another.  I would like to attend the IHSWCA meeting on Sunday however I will be unable to make it as we are hosting a youth wrestling tournament on Sunday (again 8 mats down in our fieldhouse for the youngsters on Sunday).  Interested to hear how it goes.

Feel free to contact me with any further questions.

  13. JC3390,

DeLong started the year at 181.6 (1st weigh in at New Castle Invite) and wrestled up at 215 for the team to help cover for an injured Jordan Snow.  He was a 189 wrestling up at 215 and gradually worked his way down to 171.  I'm not sure where you thought he was at 195 but he has never weighed that much.
