WHY NOT JUST CONFERENCE CHAMPS REPRESENT.

Not all conferences have the same size schools.

I have been getting my butt kicked by Bellmont for over 25 years and I have nothing but respect for their program.  Thanks for putting this topic to rest coach Faurote.

Until the IHSWCA is able to give away rings and medals for this "team state" event, I don't see numbers improving for the smaller programs. Numbers seem a little more down this year for some teams that did good last year in the event.

Sorry Brandon but I am not understanding your logic here.  Are you stating that "team state" was supposed to improve small school numbers?  And this will only happen if they give a door prize?

My personal order of interest:

 

1.  IHSAA Individual State Champions

2.  IHSWCA Team State Champions

3.  Coolest singlets worn at IHSAA state championships

4.  Funniest mascot

5.  Best dressed / worst dressed coaches

6.  Coaches with best matside antics

7.  etc

8.  etc

9.  etc

10. IHSAA "team" State Champion (based on points awarded to a few wrestlers)

Fair enough. It's probably time to start ranking teams on how they might project to win the IHSAA trophy instead of the Westfield Duals though.

They have been.  It is just no one cares that much about the IHSAA title compared to the "team" title.  You notice there isn't that much talk about it.  And there probably will not be much talk about it after "team state" either.

My buddies in Ohio say they only shook hangs durning face offs with the coach to avoid conflict. I kinda like this idea

Can anyone tell me where I can find the Spartan Classic brackets, would they be on Indianamat?

Last year I took pictures of them with my phone and sent them in.  But I will not be there on Friday so you may need to sweet talk Joe.  But to answer your question they do not get officially published unless something has changed this year.

Wow.  I hope plenty of kids read this so they can learn how to act properly.  I believe that is enough personal attacks.

This sport used to be made up of a bunch of men not afraid to get their hands dirty.  I guess things change.

I say shake em or fist bump right after the match.  If the wrestler can't compose himself enough to man up and do it he shouldn't be in the sport.

#3 Franklin Barely beat #8 Cathedral . #4 Merrillville barely beat #7 Portage . Who are the 6 that stand out ? I think there are two maybe three that really stand out . and the next 6 are really close together .

TBO I believe Cathedral was part of the top 6 when this argument was made.  Seems like you have a much stronger grasp on it then me.  Keep fueling the fire.  I am good with it.

Indianamat has Portage ranked #7 and Penn #5 . So either Portage is way over ranked or Penn is way under ranked .

I believe it has been stated before that the top 6 this year stand out.

Since the great Joe Caprino is going to be there this year do you think we may be able to get some streaming results?  I can't make it till Friday and last year I posted as much as a could with a 4 year old at my feet. I know Friday I will be dying to get some info.  I am willing to spot a little money.

Stop this now!!!!! Or we are going to evoke the mean lady to get on here and tell us how we just need to go there if we want to see what is going on.  She scares me.

My response was to the argument that teams will now be put together to focus on the IHSAA team title through the individual tournament which has been proven in the past you can win with a handful of studs.  If my comments about private schools hit too close to home and offended you I apologize for that.  It must of been my idiotic public education I received.

Oh and if it matters I have nothing against private schools and do believe that you should be able to send your kid where you want for whatever reason you have. (Which is not accepted by IHSAA at the moment)  I just think the decision should be made before they are a freshman.  I have no problem with the theory of "if you build it they will come".
