  1. Word out of the Summit city is that if the NUWAY Mat Mayhem would move their date a week later that we would not be able to host semi-state at the coliseum. NUWAY has a 30 day "no compete" clause in their contract with the Memorial Coliseum so that no other wrestling event can be held there within 30 days(before or after).

Luckily for now the semi-state is a mere 34 days away from Mat Mayhem as of this year and next year.

Joe stop being a red button pusher.  I have to deal them all day at work.

  2. I watched the Gomez match.  I believe Gomez was ranked in the top 5 in the Nation and Angel was not far behind him.  It was extremely close and the take down Gomez got Angel never went to his knees but it was legit take down.  By far Angel was my favorite wrestler to watch.  At the State Finals it seemed like he would choose what technique he wanted to work on in a match.  I felt sorry for Culp when he decided he would practice his 2 on 1 (Russian) tie on him.  Not calling a winner but would love to have seen the match.

  3. We have the best message board and website.  Bar none.  Same topics every year about the same time.  And it never gets old.  Always a few new trolls every year until Y2 gives them the boot or another admin does and Y2 gets blamed for it.

Also I believe you will be extremely impressed with our individual State Finals.  One class/one champ/one spotlight.  Just hope your boy doesn't get a bad draw on his way.  No wrestle backs.

Welcome to the Hoosier State where the basketball mindset trickle downs to everything.

    That about sums it up.

  4. Well if he didn't have a impact on Burroughs career this sure is a weird post he just posted on his blog....

    ???

Looks to me like Ersland deserves a shot.  Just because he wasn't a national champion doesn't mean he isn't worthy.  If he believes this is his dream then I am sure he will try to do what it takes.  Also I don't think having some Iowa influence will hurt Indiana.

  5. Just a bit of info, Dom Malone was a 2x National Prep Champ out of Wyoming Seminary HS in PA. His record this year is tough to judge without seeing who he lost to considering how solid 133 was top to bottom, especially in the B1G Dual season. (Thorn, Guillibon, DiJulius, Ramos, Graff, & Richards) I drill with Dom very frequently & he is very tough & there is no doubt he will be a great partner for Stevan. Also Jacob Schmitt, Jameson Oster & Conor Beebe will push him in the room. Not trying to create any animosity with this post, just trying to reassure everyone that Stevan will have all the tools he needs to accomplish his goals at NU! (There is my post for the off-season haha)

Congrats Jason.  You make us Indiana folk proud.

  6. So you don't really know how tough it is to wrestle in a college practice room. Even if the kids are not AA or have a winning record does not mean they are not going to be tough kids in the practice room.  Oh and I'm pretty sure Mcic will have a guy in the room that just won a national title. Just because Mcic may be a 125 or 133 pounder next year doesn't mean he can't wrestle Tsirtsis. I mean I'd take a national champ as a wrestling partner. Before you go questioning a college wrestling room you might want to actually experience it. And everybody else wasn't diminishing NW practice room.

Agreed.  You don't think twice about beating a high school state champ.  All past records are replaced.  It is another level.

  7. Nice.

I always say there are very few true wrestlers that leave the sport happy.  This really helps sum up the saying that I have heard many times but sometimes fall short of understanding.  "It isn't about the destination but the journey"

Wrestling has been a part of my life for over 30 years and there isn't a year that goes by that I don't question why am I so passionate about something that breaks your heart over and over for kids that wrestle.  It really is about the person it makes you.  I know I would not be where I am today without this sport.

    Thanks for sharing.

  8. What are ways you’ve seen or used to increase attendance and support at home duals?

Drop the lights and put a spotlight on the mat.  Also win state.  Everyone loves to come watch a winning team.  Then you will have new wrestling fans that will yell a bunch of stuff that doesn't make any sense.  Those are my favorites.

  9. Apparently the bylaws can be adjusted to suit individual needs. Last year the blue team didn't invite a 4th placer and put a 5th placer in the slot. The 5th placer didn't make weight so he was replaced by a ssq and moved up a weight class.

Good luck telling parents what team their kids can or cannot wrestle for. Might as well start with me as a test case. My kid is a junior and his invite was for the IN-IL all star dual. Nothing for scholastic duals.

Unless they changed something recently I thought the IN-IL duals was only for top placing seniors.  I know 106 was almost all underclassmen.

  10. Well there are a lot of ss ticket rounders who are deserving of making it to state, sawyer miller, for example.

I would agree Boomer.  But I think wrestle backs would fix that.  You are never going to get everyone to State that deserves it.  I am not huge on multiple class individual tournament.  I remember when Eastside was a power house and it wasn't classed then.  Actually my love for the sport came from that very same community.  I do like the team based classing.  Just not a fan of it at the individual level.

  11. I gave littlevito back his baby gap pants and put my big boy pants on contacted the IHSAA about this rumor and it is 100% false.

In the future if their is a issue please feel free to contact me at tysongskinner@gmail.com and I will look into it to try to find the truth.

    Thanks

Well time to block Wabash College from posting.  They have major grammar problems anyways.

  12. Yorktown would :'(  if you brought Penn and Mishawaka over to the Ft Wayne Semi-State.  They wouldn't get 8 kids through that weak semi-state anymore!

HELL!  Penn would take 12-14 kids to state every year!

Don't be rude.  It is not like we are the worst every year.  It has just been a while since we were at the top.  Since your comment seems like you're a kid let me enlighten you.  There are always ups and downs with who are the powerhouses and what areas are producing the top kids.  So to run your mouth about Penn and Mishawaka get 12-14 kids to state every year is ridiculous.

  13. That was kyler.

Tyler got his knee jacked that year.

The lowest he ever finished at iswa is probably 6th. He was always in the top 3.

Lykins ranked 2 -wrestled in many iswa states also.

Remember the only time tyler and zach has wrestled back at schoolboys.

Surpise they never wrestled again they were always close in weight. Good luck guys

Well the "ty" and "ky" in your name makes sense now.  :)

  14. Because I am biased.  Here is 138.

    Currently ranked # 3 Novice - 75 5th Tommy Cash

Currently ranked # 4 Novice - 75 8th Kyler Fleener (I am assuming this is Tyler Fleener)

Currently ranked # 5 Novice - 70 2nd Zach Krumlauf (Behind Kentucky native Nathan Boston)

    Currnetly ranked # 1 Midget - 60 1st Drew Hughes

Just goes to show how much youth wrestling is where it is at.
