  4. I would love to see high school allow more edge of the mat wrestling.  It seems to me in high school as soon as you get near the edge its time to reset.  Some of the most intense scrambles and best takedowns occur on the edge of the mat in college.

I would like it as well but the problem is the lack of out of bounds space on high school mats.

  5. I think Burroughs really frustrated the Belarus(ian?, Belarusite?).  I think that's the first DQ I've seen internationally.  The official tried to ding Burroughs at the end of the first but he didn't get it confirmed.  Scrappy match.

  6. It don't think it's the best Burroughs has ever looked but a tech fall none the less.  He is so insanely quick.  His instincts and reactions speed blows me away every time I see him.  Speed, power, smarts.  He's the perfect wrestler.

  7. Very tough loss... Stopped wrestling with about 1:30 to go.  I think my entire body was trying to will him to win, I'm sure I looked like an idiot here at my desk.  Hats off to that Iranian.  He was constantly attacking and worked his tail off.

  8. Just a quick update on Terre Haute North. Beat a tough PA Rampage team and lost to a really tough Missouri team. Three way tie criteria went to Missouri to win the pool with North 2nd. Then, lost a heartbreaker to Polk County. Wrestling back for third tomorrow.

  9. It amazes me how long it has taken them to produce these again. By far one of the most popular shoes ever and people are always begging for them.

The new ones look nice, I would rip off the "lace guard," but other than they look good.

It has to be the "McRib" effect!

  10. One of my wrestlers had his beats headphones (the expensive studio version) stolen from the MIC tournament at Warren Central this year.  They were most of the way under a coat on top of one of our managers purses.  It's pretty sad that things happen like this.  I hope things work out for you.

  11. Track wrestling had Brown winning the whole time until the final was posted.  Saw Brown go 5-0, 7-0, 9-0, 14-1 and 14-2.  Then it froze and showed the final score of 14-4 for Kuhn.  Weird!

I saw the same thing! That wasn't the only match that happened to either.

  12. Saw some outstanding wrestling yesterday at Bloomington South hats off to all the kids that wrestles. Yet on sad thing was observed and it was dealing with Bloomington North. You could tell their kids were giving it their all; but every time one would lose they would never go shake the oppesing teams coaches hands. They even would not either shake their oppent or if they did it would be a half hearted shake. One offical even went to the Bloomington North coach concerning this and he acted as if it was no big deal. Now with a Bloomington North wrestler won they would go shake the other coaches hands.

I have competed since I was five until my mid twenties when i started coaching for a few years at the high school level. I know how it feels to lose one that you gave it your all; yet that is no excuess for what I see as poor sportsmanship.

I dont blame the wrestlers for these actions i blame the coach your team is a true reflection of yourself and who and what you stand for. So if you continue to allow such behavior this must mean that you dont hold sportmanship to be very improtant. I have had the privalge to watch my son wrestle in high school and now college and I must say that the Bloomington North program by far has shown the lowest rating in sportsmanship of any team. I have seen them wrestle three times this year and each time it has been the same. I think these actions are bad for an amazing sport and most of all bad for the kids in the sports.

I had a small run-in with one if their assistants earlier in the year.  I won't go into too much detail but when I asked him politely to move from standing directly in front of me the response was "Don't walk up on me bro!" Imagine a jerk college kid saying it, that's what came out... Apples don't fall far from the tree folks.

  13. A few years ago we were STILL wrestling at like 930pm lol.  But I agree, it takes way too long to wrestle.

Do you remember the night Northview's Cory Grigsby beat Bloomington South's Tony Withrow in the finals? Grigsby had bit a huge chunk out of the inside of his mouth and used something like 4:50 of his blood time.  Stuffed his mouth full of gauze for the whole third period for the upset.
