Phelps showing a lack of class and wrestling dirty? That seems highly unlikely to me. I seriously seriously doubt it.

I agree - I like the new approach BJ is taking.  In the past it seemed like he was more of a "know-it-all" but after the GSP fight he found out he needed to improve the strength and conditioning aspect of his game.

 

As for the Countdown to UFC 107, if they were going to preview a 3rd fight, it would have been Florian vs. Guida, not the Fitch fight. 

Actually the fight BJ credits for making him take a hard look at his career and what he wanted to do in MMA was the beating he took from Matt Hughes in 06. Sanchez had nothing but a punchers chance in this fight. I don't really like BJ Penn and all his crap but it doesn't take an MMA expert to see that Diego Sanchez will never be as good as BJ Penn.

Capitalization and Punctuation FAIL

You really need to focus on the elementary and middle school as well as the club when you start. I mean focus hard on developing a system that gets kids winning early and often and get your elementary kids to the 50 match mark as quickly as possible.

Do that, and the HS program will take care of itself.

Cal College hires Leroy Vega as first wrestling coach

As hires go, Peter Haring thinks he's hit a home run with this one.

The Calumet College of St. Joseph's Athletic Director may have socked a grand slam with the hiring of former Portage and University of Minnesota wrestling standout Leroy Vega as the first coach of the school's new sport, as first reported on nwi.com.

"He's pretty close to the total package for his age and experience factor," Haring said late Monday. "You can really see his passion for the sport. As big as it was to announce we were starting wrestling, it's just as big if not bigger to find someone of his caliber to be the leader of the program as we build it from ground zero. I'm pretty excited about it and so is he." -- Jim Peters, The Times

You will pick your own team of 10 to compete at the 2009 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Once pre-seeds are released you will pick a wrestler at each weight. You will only be allowed: One #1 seed, One #2 seed etc... Through 8 seeds, which means you will have to have at least 2 unseeded wrestlers. (Wrestlers seeded 9-12 are considered "unseeded")

1st and 2nd place team points will be doubled for any non-seeded wrestler that makes the finals.

Scoring is based on the same rules as the tournament itself. The same Criteria will also be used for Ties.

1st - Grand Prize, 7-days lodging at a luxury home in Costa Rica (does not include airfare or any other expenses, lodging only), And a hooded Sweatshirt, Trophy.

It wasn't that hard to see. Hinton's neutral defense was terrible. I was surprised he was ate-up that bad on his feet. Luke is a stud but that was bad bad bad.  He got manhandled on bottom too.

I would choose individual state. But Team state really is something to see. It can be very exciting and is usually a virtual standing room only crowd. A lot of energy.
