  1. not sure how well it would do with the economy and all, but has anyone ever just thought why is there no wrestling level such as  of the nba, nfl, mlb, pro soccer, hockey, tennis, golf, etc?  i know there wwe, but what about real wrestling? i mean we have college then after that theres just olympics.. thats not really any fun...there are wrestlers who would be good enough to be in such a league, but just not THE BEST to be in the olympics.  Im sure there are plenty of great wrestlers who would do this if it existed and im sure the same would go for the fans.  I know I would definitely watch and have a favorite team and stuff.  I don't know I don't think it's too fair that there's another level for every other sport pretty much, but not wrestling.  Wrestling is an exciting sport.  You could have a playoff and championship at the end of the year like every other sport too.  I think it'd be cool lol, just my opinion. ;D Anyone else think it'd be cool? Anyone know why there isn't such a thing and if it's ever been discussed ?

I would expect that there is not enough fan interest to support a league.  Wrestlers wouldn't be able to make a living by wrestling.

  2. Can somone please make this post on a  make believe match go away!

This is the biggest week of the year and this post keeps going to the top of my page.

Let me finish this.  Both of these guys would win the made up match.  It

is made up. So there is no reason they both could not win.

You could just make believe that this topic does not exist, and stop opening it.

  3. I don't get half of the attacks on Sliga either but they are being made....

I don't see a lot (if any) Sliga attacks.  I think most give him credit for being an outstanding wrestler.  To say he is not an all time indiana great is not an attack, it is an opinion.

  4. There is one angle that really bothers me, no matter which side you are on for either of these issues...I am concerned very much when people use the argument, "Because (fill in the blank round of wrestling) is so exciting."  Should we really be making our decisions about wrestle backs or anything else based on what is the most exciting?  That does not seem like the best basis for decision making to me...

Depends on what your goal is.

Do you want to make the sport popular with casual fans.  I think you can argue that these win or go home rounds can help attract new fans to the sport.

If your goal is to get the best possible athletes to state, given geographic restrictions, and determine the top 8 or 16 wrestlers, then throw "exciting" out the window.

  5. Okay, am I the only one that doesn't like the new website? And am I the only one that can't get the individual rankings page to come up?

cliche alert:  The only rankings that matter are the one's determined at Bankers Life Fieldhouse

  6. Again the first post stated the region is underestimated every year. Two things stand out here, he said the region, NOT Merrillville semi state, AND underestimated.  EVERY year the region people get all worked up on here and show an elitist attitude and overtalk the rest of the state. We all know some of the greatest Indiana kids ever have come from there. Again about "The Region" take out C.P, Griffith, Hanover C, maybe Merrilville and Lowell and those other schools strike fear in NOBODY. So saying the region is being underestimated is wrong.

Take out PM, Cathedral, WC, Franklin and the other Indianapolis schools strike fear in NOBODY

  7. I'm not convinced it's that easy.

That is a lot of weight to give up and it's not like Robinson is a cream puff.  He is likely the best pure athlete in the sport right now.  I would be dumb to suggest that he is anywhere near as good a "wrestler" in the technical sense, but I think it would be much closer than a major.  If they wrestled 10 times it would probably be 7-3 in favor of Sliga but I wouldn't be surprised if Gelen did better.

  8. Max Hernandez still undefeated lookin great very athletic Robinson and him will be a great match Max is tall and very well built he could surprise a lot of people , Ty Fleener is on a roll as well.McKinney at 106 looks to be ready to go.

    Winning!

  9. How does everyone feel about coaches who wear sweatpants or jeans to a wrestling tournament?  I personally am tired of it and think that it gives our sport a bad name with administrators.. How about wearing a suit coat and dress pants with tennis shoes at the state finals?  These looks have to go!

I kind of agree.  It's not that difficult to put on a pair of Khakis and a polo with your school logo on it.

  10. Having the tourney on trackwrestling.com and having video feeds was a great thing for this tourney!

Trackwrestling.com it appears is constantly improving the way they track live tourney action. Having used them for many years to follow tourneys I could not attend in person, I continue to be impressed with them as a service.

Wonder how the audience would be if there were a nominal fee charged to access the video feeds?  Nothing much, but say $5 or $10 for access.  If you could even get 200 people to watch at $10 a head, that would cover all of the awards and still have some left over to fund other parts of the event.  Could give you an extra opportunity for sponsorships too.
