  1. Wow! He was impressive, I thought the finals match may be a little closer.  Guess he is number one in the nation for a reason.  He is a great technical wrestler.  Fun to watch.  Maybe him and Jackson in the same weight class next year?

  2. Sounds like Weekly vs. Roach if it happens might be one of the best matches.  Roach is a scorer he gets after it and it sounds as if Weekly does as well.  Maybe  12-8 final score?  Roach on his feet is fun to watch, but he can be taken down.  It might be a match like Roach vs. Churchard final in '08.

I know Roach had a hard time figuring Lunford out, but besides the first takedown Roach was in control and really pushed the pace.  What was the point against Roach for?  That seemed to be a very bad call.  I actually thought Lunford was fleeing the mat.

  3. Lets just hope they are on the opposite side of the bracket and it is under the lights.  I remember everybody saying last year the Mullins would beat Tsirtsis.  Tsirtsis won 8-0.    Remember Tsirtsis is 1 or 2 in the country in most polls.  Saying that I think this match will be close like Tsirtsis and Jackson last year.  I did not think Tsirtsis would get challenged this year at 140, but have changed my mind and think this will be a good match.

  4. Tsirtsis vs. Montgomery could be interesting then.  Tsirtsis is a small 140, probably could have went 135 I even think he weighed in at 135 during the year.  One of tsirtsis few losses this year at super 32 came to Wildmo from Michigan who was much bigger than Jason.  He really had a hard time scoring in that match.  Look forward to the match next week.

Who did boyd lose to yesterday Rueger or Montgomery in the semi's?  Was it close?

  5. I understand how good Roach and Tsirsits are, but can someone give me some stats on how many pins they each have for the year?  Pins vs. kids that are ranked that is....  I don't think they are pinners, very good technical wrestlers, and could beat maybe everyone in the country, but they beat them by points not throwing them in a headlock or working them over with a big power half or something....  just my opinion, but I don't think they pin kids who are ranked, but give me facts to prove me wrong.

    Walter,

I think Tsirtsis has pinned every guys he has wrestled in the post season this year.  Including Wartman who is ranked 3 or 4 in the state.  At scholastic duals last year he had 4 pins in 7 matches.  The only way Lannert does not get pinned is if he runs.

  6. He seems to be flying under the radar.  Has he been challenged yet this year?  Could he give Tsirtsis a match?

Correct me if I am wrong but has Tsirtsis pinned everybody he has faced this post season?  I hope this match happens in the finals and not the semi's

  7. We're having all these discussions on Crown Points going to beat EMD and EMD going to beat Crown Point , while Perry is  just laughing at all these comments . I think Perry is the one that has really prospered from these match ups . Speaking of flying under the radar .

Don't agree with this statement.  If MD and Perry  were wrestling first round all the talk would be about that matchup or if Perry and CP were wrestling first round all the talk would be about that matchup.  MD/CP is going to happen who ever wins will probably wrestle Perry for the title.  I don't think Perry is flying under the radar, just happens that MD/CP is happening first round.

  8. we will be broadcasting from the merrillville ss again this year. if the ihsaa allows us to we will broadcast video and audio friday night and saturday up to the finals. the finals will be audio only at state.find us at   broadcastsport.net     if something changes i will repost.

Thanks! Any chance on team state as well?  Don't live in Indiana anymore and is always nice to watch.  Broadcastsport.net has done a great job the last few years

  9. Bruschi I just dont see it happening, I understand the name Mater Dei carries a lot of weight. Fuqua (135) did take some time out for his knee to recover. But what he did this weekend I think his knee is showing no signs of weakness, I understand he is going to be wrestling some top notch guys at State. However planning ( I am not saying this is what you are doing)  on a guy not to wrestle is not in the equation, at any given moment one of these wrestler could be out for the rest of the season. Most of these young men wrestle with injuries all year long, anybodys ACL, MCL could go at anytime. Even if Mater Dei bumps Boots up its going to cancel out, thats if they have a guy at 189 who can beat Langbehn. MD would get 3 and then give away 3 or possibly more.

    MOGILLIS,

Yeah I don't think I stated that right, or at least that is not what I was trying to say.  I feel that he is going to be facing some tough wrestlers and if he is not 100% it is going to be tough to come back the next week against MD.  Very true it is a tough/injury prone sport, look at Howe, it can happen to anybody.  I agree with you I think CP is slight favorite if both teams are healthy and MD will need so breaks to go their way.  It is going to be fun to watch and I think whoever wins will win State, I think both teams would be favorite over Perry.

  10. I think it could go either way.  Seems Fuqua (135) has been hurt most of the year.  135 is going to brutal at state, if he re-injuries (I think it is his knee) that will be a big loss.  I think I read an article in the NWITimes that it is still hurting him.  Fuqua may see Raley, Keiffer, Jackson and Gregory in the next 2 weeks.  160 Simms if he is not healthy will be huge as well.  I think MD needs a pin at 160.  112, 119, 130 are huge swing matches.  I think 171 goes to MD.  I think Bradenstein will be looking to revenge his loss at regionals.  if 171 goes CP it is going to be over.  I think Tsirtsis and Roach both get pins or tech. I think VanWinkle will get a pin.  Does MD have a good backup at 189 so they can bump up Boots?

  11. Have you seen both teams wrestle?  Or are you basing your picks on records?

No I have not seen both teams wrestle.  I could be way off, just thought i would throw it out there.  Somebody who is informed on both teams I would like to see the predictions.  I basically went off recored and ranked wrestlers.  Roach and Tsirtsis are pretty tough and if they need a pin I think they will get one and maybe a tech fall.  I think 119 may go to EMD.  So to answer your question md85 just starting conversation and no these are not educated picks, especially at 112, 119, 125 and HWT.  I think this could go either way.  How do you see it?  Where am I way off?

  12. What are the lineups for both teams if healthy? It seems as these two teams are evenly matched.  Maybe a couple of swing matches maybe at 130 and 135.  Any predictions out there?  Might come down to bonus points.  Should be a great match too bad it happens in the quarter finals.

I could be wrong on some of the wts and names, just let me know.

    103:  josh Fuqua  CP  maj Seng MD:  CP 4-0;

112:  Goebel dec Saroff  CP : CP 4-3 Don't know to much about this match-up

119:  Burlison CP dec Pierre MD: CP 7-3

    125:  Henderson MD dec Harvey-CP: CP 7-6

130:  Mangold dec Halsted -CP: MD 9-7

135:  Jake Fuqua -CP dec Shroeder: CP 10-9  This is probably a toss-up

140:  Tsirtsis -CP  pin Lannert MD;  CP 16-9

    145:  Roach-CP  pin Riggs MD: CP 22-9

152:  Flamme  CP dec Weinzapfel: CP 25-9

160  Simms MD pin Schurg  CP; CP 25-15

171  Bradenstein MD dec Shrewsbury  CP: CP 25-18

189:  Boots MD  pin Langbehn CP: CP 25-24

215:  Kral CP  Mdec Wright MD;  CP 29-24

HWT VanWinkler mdec Swope: CP 29-28

This is 7 matches to 7 matches.  I have no clue about a few of the matches like 112, 119, 125 could be a tossup, 135 tossup and the HWT from MD may pin CP.  This should be a good match. Do these lineup look right?

  13. That would be a fun match to watch.  Both Juniors in high school, Alex was better on their feet IMO.  Jason is better on bottom and on top.  I don't think Alex would take down in this match.  Alex wins 2-1 with a late takedown.  Two of the best all time high school wrestlers in Indiana.
