Hello TEC fans,
I watch Lincoln Friday at the New Castle duals. It was a tough tourney for a short handed team. I think things will get better for them with some lessons learned from this weekend.
Tri will start off tomorrow at Daleville. We don't have all weight classes filled at this time, so it could be a long night. We then wrestle Saturday at home with TEC schools Northeastern, Union Co., and with Lawrencburg, Connersville, and Randolph So.

Lets see a list of every clubs own Blue Shirt Officials. When ever I get the same coaches barking and complaining, I always ask who represents their club as a Blue Shirt. You will find that very few clubs have someone that officiates. If every club had at least one, there would be 3 adult or certified refs at each mat at state. I know personally that some of the biggest clubs in the state can not say that they have a blue shirt official.

Maybe this will make the first round at regionals more exciting. The 3rd and 4th place guy at regional knows that he wins one and he's in instead of two!!
-
Last season this regional only sent five kids to state(clark, stewart, duncan, Duck,Bugni). Also, the South Dearborn sectional had more placers then the Tri/Shenandoah sectional.
I think the SD sectional again will have more placers but not as many as last year. here are some semi state qual. predictions from the Shenandoah sectional.
103 Campbell
112 Stewart, Mullins
119 Leeka, Catron
125 Williams
130 Fellers
135 ???(lots of good kids in this weight class from both sectionals to tough to call)
140 Duncan
145 Bennett
152 ??? SD sectional maybe to deep for Marcum or Becker
160 Wasson, Hamm
171 Flanary
189 Garland
215 Cole
285 ??? Lots of things could happen, so ..........
Should be some good finals!!

Again, Winchester will run away with it. They are just alot deeper then every other team. Union Co. and Centerville will fight for 2nd. This is still one of the best tourneys, and am happy to get to be back. See averyone next week.

I moved guys around to try and win as a team. You guys think you got it all figured out. Leeka didn't dodge anyone, the COACH moved him. I believe that match was alot closer then the score said. There was a 2 match swing witch could have happen at 152,160. Not wrestling Phillips, may have lost us 3 or 6 . I'm sorry but this is not Jr. High where we always look for the best match up. We want to win as a team.
I totally agree about wrestling the best competition. Everyone that knows me, knows that I'm out every weekend on the off season. I'm year round training to still be a better wrestler and coach. My point on the Classic was that there will be a big difference in between the top 2 and the rest of the field. At least seeding some of it might lessen that gap. Also, as a team, Connersville was not right for Tri. Drop Connersville for 5 duals for 14 weight classes sounded better.
-
See thats easy to say when your looking at a team from the outside. Tri has 2 great individuals on the team, so the individual tourney only helps them while the rest suffer. That is why I did mostly go to a dual format schedule.
Three years ago I reffed the North Mont. duals. Portage, Highland, Warren, Carmel, No. Mo. , and W. Vigo. , Perry, and some other top team. Two days of wrestling, and 7 solid matches. I would say this would compare. Again, I think Connersville is a great tourney for some schools but not for others. When it is all done, someone put some stats together of how many teams had more then 5 wrestlers get 3 or more matches. I predict Cathedral to have double if not triple more wrestlers place then the second place team.
Tri High up there duals by 4 dropping this meet. That is 4 more times my freshmen and sophmores can gain some much needed mat time to get them ready for conference and sectional. 90% of my teams goal is to place high in both and make it to regionals. It all comes down to each teams needs. My individuals that are good will be moved around to wrestle the better competition in dual meets.

Tri High dropped this to better there team. I believe they had 4 placers last year, but for the rest it was mostly 2 and out.
Just some thoughts on the Classic....
No seeding is just not right. Even if you split the top 4 wrestlers, it would make a difference.
And teams there need to be at a closer level to Cathedral, or they need to ask Cathedral to move on to something bigger. All teams will have some great individuals, but only 2 or 3 teams will have all their wrestlers get more then 3 matches. For the younger teams this tourney could take them back a few steps.
I have seen some outstanding wrestling at Connersville, but there are ways to make it better for everyone.

Beast, Connersville is in the Union Co. Sectional, and only Union Co. is part of the TEC. Most TEC teams are in the Tri/Shenandoah Sectional(CV,CCL,HAG,Tri,NE).
Tri has beat NE, HAG
and lost to WIN, Un. Co., and CV(I believe we only won 3 matches in each meet). I don't think we see Lincoln or Union City until conference.
Where is everyone tomorrow? and how will TEC teams/ind. do at the Classic? Tri is no longer in this meet, so good luck to the rest of the TEC.

I have no clue what weight Duck is going and did not say any one was going to struggle with anybody. GEEZ :'(
-
Just some random thoughts on how the TEC is shaping up so far.....
Winchester is the team to beat. I put 4 of their upper weights in the finals. Along with 1 or 2 more, they could just run away with it.
Union Co. and Centerville are a close second. UnCo will have 4 in the finals and Cville will have 3. Here are some finals predictions...
103 Win or Un Co(This is Philips if he is here)
112 Un Co again Phillips
119 Tri or Win or Un Co
125 Hag or ?
130 ?
135 Tri or Cville
140 Un Co or Win
145 Un Co or Cville
152 Hag or CCL
160 NE or ?
171 Win or Un Co or Un Ci
189 Win or Un Co
215 Win or Cville or Un Co
285 Win
These are just some guesses by what I have seen or thought. Some guys may fall into some different weight classes by conference time so these could change. Please give some input on who you think may make the TEC finals.
Good luck to all TEC teams over the Holiday Season

What TEC teams wrestle this week? weekend?
Is Lincoln, Union Co. Hag, still at Union City this weekend?
Tri will be at the Rushville Super 5 with Centerville, Batesville, and Connersville on Saturday
-
Tri High finishes 4-1 today at the Hagerstown Inv. Winning against Randolph Southern, Hagerstown, Richmond, and Wapahani, losing to Noblesville. Tri's season record is now 9-5.
-
How is Rushvilles two state Qualifiers Cody Stewart and Keith Duncan not ranked. Even if no one has sent anything in for them, they are seniors that both are back at 112 and 140!! No matter how good these others are, all state Qual. should get ranked over freshman!
-
Winchester is with out a doubt the best team in the conference(IMO) Tri High has now wrestled Un Co., Northeastern, and Winchester. Winchester upper weights are all solid from 160 up, and their smaller weights have lots of heart. 4 matches that Tri had a lead in, Winchester came back to win. Coach Mock and Jones are doing well. Un Co has to be the second best, but we still have not seen Hag, Centerville, Un City, or Lincoln. Got to get to bed Hagerstown Inv. in about 7hrs.
-
I believe it was 66-18. ???
-
The board didn't look right with out it!
Tri High goes 2-1 at Muncie Central tonight beating Central and Anderson, but losing to Winchester. We are now 5-4

Tri defeats Daleville 51-24. Team looks good although the forfeits are hard to deal with. Good luck to all this weekend.
