So Jake didn't win again?

I have had the privilege of coaching this young man. A few years ago out at duals he qualified to wrestle Greco. Some of our freestyle guys were beat up and Drake jumped at the opportunity to get to wrestle both styles. He went out and wrestled hard every match. It doesn't surprise me at all that he stayed in position for the duration of the match. He has a great work ethic and he was so excited to wrestle every chance that he got. He has some nice throws, too! I wish I could have been there to shake your hand after you won your title, Drake. I'll catch up with you this summer for sure!

I'll second that. Congrats to Tony and all of the 119 pounders. This was a very deep weight class and I have coached most of the kids that placed. There is no doubt this was a tough weight to place at. Great job by all!

cant get them all working or what?

That would be Nick Viterisi. Paul is his father.
Actually Nick's first name is Paul.

Jack Crawford - Culver Military Academy
Went 6-27 as a freshman and took 6th in sectionals.
Last season he was 32-1 as a sophomore and tore his labrum. He was seeded #1 in sectionals and had to withdraw the Wednesday before.
This season he was 10-1 (only loss was an injury default because his shoulder was giving him grief). The Wednesday before sectionals yet again he tore his MCL and yet again had to withdraw from sectionals.

Full rides really don't exist in D1 wrestling programs.
Umm...yes...they do.

Dan Young wrestles up to 165 and beats a tough Harvard opponent this past weekend at the Army vs. Harvard dual. He is having a bold season as a true freshman!

What about the Nick Hobbs match where he was down 1 with four secs to go and tilted from optional start for the 2 points was this a Friday night match? Sorry can't remember who he was wrestling
Good one, Zach. That was a great match. It was vs. a Fremont guy if I remember correctly. Nick is a tough cookie and is still tearing it up in the cage!
-
O'Brien vs. the Portage 215 was also the championship match on Friday night that year.
No...it was the Friday night match. Unfortunately the Friday night matches aren't the championship matches in Indiana high school wrestling.

roster can be found on the ccsj website. however, they (for some reason or another) refuse to put up guys that are redshirts or ineligible at the time.

our team stats are up to date besides last night on intermatwrestle.com. just click on the downbox and choose our team. make sure the date is changed as well or else it will only show matches that happen on the date you are looking at it.

No problem, Chris. I am going to recommend this to several of the area athletes up here. This tournament is growing every year!

We beat Hannibal-LaGrange tonight 34-3. This is without Bedoy and Surma and without a match at 125. This is huge for Indiana and Calumet wrestling. We are unranked as a team and Hannibal has received votes to be ranked. We are coming along great and we are going to turn some heads at Nationals!

Glad I didn't take your predictions to Vegas.
predictionS? well one of them was correct, was it not?!

What if it were a home meet for IU? Then maybe...just maybe...could you see it happening?! haha
These fumes are no joke though. That I'm being serious about! lol

Kinser wins by tech? ha...much more likely for a fall or a maj. my guess is a pin. howe is clearly very solid. if he does win it won't be by a major. he just isnt a high scorer...let alone on a guy like p-young. look for the upset here...it was quite a close match earlier this season (3-2, i believe was the score). my prediction is that this meet will have 5 falls. giving up pins will be big come time to tallying up the team scores!
-
Yes, that is correct!
-
Yes, I know for sure that he is indeed wrestling 119.

Congrats to our guys for this evenings victory over Manchester by score of 34-17. This is the first dual meet victory in the school's history and the first of many for Head Wrestling Coach Leroy Vega.
Manchester was without a few of their guys, but it was a hard fought battle. CCSJ recorded pins from Chad Allen, Brandon Ward, Derek Allen, Dan Bedoy, and Artie Grubba. It was a great effort by all members of the Wave team. Congrats!

Corey Eck from Ft. Wayne Concordia is undefeated at heavyweight. I believe he is 23-0 after the Scottsburg duals.

Bedoy cracked 2 ribs in the first period and yet continued to wrestle. We had to take him to the emergency room right after the tournament. He battled hard and did a great job, especially considering he couldn't breathe or raise his left hand up. He showed a lot of heart by continuing to wrestle and we injury withdrew him right after that match.
