  1. Man...I don't know what I did to make people hate me, but I must have done a great job! All I do is volunteer my time summer after summer on duals trips, out to Fargo, doing other camps, and trying to help promote our sport throughout the state. I guess we will all have our critics, but I feel I deserve a little bit of respect. I love what I do and I will continue to do it.

Anton...as we have discussed many times before, I support everything you are doing and look forward to helping you out as much as possible. Thanks for letting me get some workouts in over the summer!

  2. twice actually...ha. and likely i have coached about 6x the amount of high school state champions than angel or mudflap (and you, Lineberry! lol)! at any rate, thanks  Chuck. we are excited to keep Indiana's wrestlers on the mat at the next level.

  3. We did, in fact, sign Dan just today actually to make it official. We also signed Nick Samaro who is a former Bloomington South Panther. I believe that Bobby Joe will be helping us out as a volunteer coach throughout the season. We had everyone report today and move in to their houses and apartments. It's going to be an exciting year!

  4. Congratulations to Daniel Young of The Culver Academies on his selection to the USA Wrestling 2009 High School All-American Honorable Mention list. West Point has a hard worker coming their way!

The full publication should be coming out in the mail soon so hopefully we will find out all of the USA Wrestling AA's and Honorable Mention AA's.

  5. isnt Danny Williams the guy who was a state champ his junior year then for his senior year he was hurt and got 4th at semi state, then went on to win state?

Yes, that was him.  He wrestled the championship match on Friday night against the Lake Central kid(I think his name was Mora).

Interesting fact...I thought championship matches were wrestled on Saturday nights...

  6. He said in his Bellator interview that he was a 5x "AAU" national champion. I can't seem to find anything on his high school wrestling accomplishments. Anyone have any information/years on his success?

  7. the rope climb is the most impressive.. we climb ropes all the time and climbing 1 rope wit 2 hands is tough... this kid is a freak..

We have several kids in our room that do 2 ropes at the same time like he did. And to top that, a few of them can pull themselves up both ropes at the same times, as opposed to alternating hands (i.e. both hands are released from the rope at the same time).

  8. wow...only 83 registered for this tournement....are they gonna extend the invite, cancel, or run with it?

How about the fact that the tournament is being held on Memorial Day Weekend. I don`t know about you but our wrestling season just ended. I don`t want to go sit in a gymnasium while it is finally nice out. Not to mention the this coming weekend usually marks the beginning of most peoples outdoor activities. ie; camping, fishing etc.

    then don't go...??

  9. The scorecards actually had Herman winning the first round. Though he got taken down, Herman nearly had Mu Bae about KOed. That guy had a steel jaw though. lol...Herman was just wayyy too out of shape. He said he didn't even remember what we were telling him in between rounds (because of fatigue and being hit a few times in the head ha). Herman got out of a few submission attempts and rocked Mu Bae. I think he knew he was too out of shape and needed to go for the 1st round TKO.

  10. I thought this kid was supposed to graduate in like '08 making him a freshman in college...how is he wrestling junior division?

He's repeating his senior year so he can graduate and get a diploma. He is basically doing a 5th year. We have those here at Culver Academies as well. They just can't participate in the IHSAA sports.

  11. Well, he did puke after every match. I stood there and made fun of him as he did so. I think it had more to do with him being out of shape! lol

At any rate, he did plan on going 130, but couldn't keep anything down and ended up making 125.
