  1. If you haven't seen it already, you should go watch the press conference for this event.  I think it is on allelbows.com.  It is hilarious.  Big time style and personality clash between these two.  It will be a great fight.

  2. Machida is the huge favorite in Vegas.  I think Rashad has a chance if he doesn't get caught up in chasing Machida around.  I will admit I got tired of Machida being "elusive", but he whooped Thiago Silva.  The only thing elusive in that fight was Silva's consciousnous.  I will take Machida by boring UD or by surprising KO.

  3. Shields showed in his last fight against Paul Daley that he is not a very good striker.  He even had trouble finishing once it went to the ground and Daley is awful on the ground.  Lawler wins by KO as long as he keeps it standing.

  4. I am interested in attending a heavyweight camp or clinic as a coach.  I have been looking online and I have found a few.  Bruce Baumgartner's camp seems to be the most publicised.  I was hoping to find something a little closer.  I know Purdue and IU both have camps, but they don't specifically mention heavyweight technique.  Does anyone have a suggestion about a good heavyweight camp?

  5. The tuxedo singlets were awesome.  I couldn't stop laughing everytime I saw them.  It took some real b*lls to order those and wear them on the biggest stage.  Can you imagine the guy at the singlet company on the phone when the coach was ordering those singlets?  "You want what on the front of your singlets."  Priceless.

  6. I think it takes technique (good coaching) first.  Then I would say wrestling intelligence (ability to comprehend how and why things work), and the ability to use that knowledge during a match.  Next would be speed/quickness.  Can't teach it and hard to defend against.  Next would be strength.  Strength can overcome deficencies in the other areas, but is not hard to defeat with good technique.

  7. Floyd looked tough, as usual, at the HHC Duals.  Jeff also looked strong.  They will both be in the hunt for the title as they should both produce several champs with a strong supporting cast to go along with it.  New Albany, Col. East and Jennings will probably be there in the middle of the pack.  These teams are solid for the most part.  They won't have as many champs as the top two and this will be the difference.  Madison will be right on the heels of those teams with Seymour and Bedford finishing in the final spots.  Seymour is struggling and Bedford has serveral forfeits that will hurt them.  Just my $0.02.

Come on.  Someone else has to have an opinion on the HHC too.

  8. My son is 5 now.  He wrestles on our elem. team.  I coach the 4, 5 and 6 year olds on our team.  I find that he is not as motivated to practice when I am there, but he practices pretty good when I can't be there for whatever reason.  I think it is difficult for him to understand that I have 16 or 17 other kids that need my attention also.  It seems he is always trying to get my attention away from the other kids.  He is doing better this year than he did last year, but it still happens.

The hardest thing for me is balancing the coaching with the parenting.  I have to know when to coach him after a loss and when to shut it off and console him as a parent.  I get more frustrated with him since he is my son than I do with the other kids, but I am learning to treat him the same as everyone else when we are on the mat.  It is a learning process for us both.

  9. I don't think you can determine the best pound for pound wrestler this season by only looking at past successes.  It should be a clean slate at the beginning of the year.  Looking at the past and not what is happening this season doesn't give these guys credit for the improvments they made in the offseason.  Just because Harper has won their previous meetings, doesn't mean that Cashe hasn't closed the gap or maybe even passed him this year.  Cashe has the better wins this season so far.
