  2. A great choice of schools, Manchester College gets Kurt Monix!

In addition to placing 6th at state this year, Kurt lead the Devils football team to a 13-1 record at QB and also is one of the better pole vaulters in the area. A great all-around athlete! Good luck kid! Just don't do the same crazy things I did at MC!!  ;)

  3. GrecoCoach:

That's really what my post was intended for...to foster discussion about it; again, I feel the ISWA does a tremendous job but if we can improve the award by altering and modifying as we go along through meaningful discussions, it is prudent for everyone.

  4. A consideration could actually be given to either Middle School State or the ISWA Folkstyle State as counting toward the Triple Crown. (just my opinion)

There have been wrestlers recognized at the high school level for winning the IHSAA state title, greco state, and freestyle state and have been issued the Triple Crown plaque when they DID NOT participate or win the ISWA Folkstyle State. Just as middle school state doesn't fall under the auspices (per se) of the ISWA nor does the IHSAA so I would recommend keeping it standardized and recognizing the Middle School State tourney just as the IHSAA state tourney is recognized.

This is NOT a complaint, just a suggestion...the ISWA does a wonderful job and I am just throwing this out there..."food for thought". If we are going to count the IHSAA state finals in the trilogy, lets include the IHSWCA middle school state finals as well.

  5. I got a chance to watch the match too...

I agree, one of the best matches that I saw all weekend!

Congratulations to both wrestlers, a lot of heart.

Demi Allen reminds me a lot of a little Kayla Miracle...both are very cute girls "off" of the mat, but on the mat, they will

    just pound you into ground!

  6. Seeing great people all weekend meant a lot to me! Indiana Wrestling folks are the BEST! I missed seeing the Shipleys, Dewitts, Griffiths, Schurgs, Crarys, and many more but whenever I get a chance to talk with my buddy Lance Ellis, life is good! LOL

I want to congratulate Brock Morgan for a great match! Brock, you are a class act kid and your demeanor and courtesy whether you win or lose should be modeled by everyone. A true warrior, on and off the mat.

Congrats to Blake Rypel! A great year for him, Tami, you must be very proud!

Way to go Tommy Cash! TRIPLE CROWN winner.

A nice job by Tyler Fleener too! Having an injury in the past and still being able to wrestle with heart and intensity, it takes a special effort!

To big papa Joe Reitz: Keep on truck'in, the boys are improving and will be just fine!

I want to say congratulations to Drew Hughes for winning what I call a "Triple Crown" this season. He won Middle School state, greco state, and freestyle state...to me, that is a "Triple Crown"...and one tough thing to do!

    Kenny Hughes-great job, kid!

    Alex Mavros-Keep on working hard!

Nate "The Beast" Cleveland-I am getting old because I remember you being so little and now? Amazing! There are not too many 215lbers with a ripped 6-pack!

Thanks to CIA and Coach Joe Willmann, your dedication and passion is overwhelming!

  7. I have been in mourning for quite some time my friend! Very sad, indeed. That's okay though, I am currently lobbying for a new Duncan Donuts to arrive in town. I'll be wiping glazed crumbs from my uniform shirt soon! (Hopefully)

    :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  8. This is three (3) different articles on the signings of local kids that have signed with the brand new Calumet College program. (I didn't shorten the length w/web link due to this--instead of 3 separate posts) This info was copied from the Calumet College's athletics web site.

  9. White Sox Baby!

To even let people know that you are CUBS fan is just downright self-mutilating isn't it?

The most pathetic sports organization in history!

Even the last time they won a world title, there was what....8 teams in the league?

  10. I was speaking with Nick Reenan's father (National Champion at Novice 80lbs) and they live in the Dallas area, just north of the city. Mr. Reenan told me that he thought Indiana was moving up into the upper-level of states for wrestling from what he has seen over the past several years! He kept saying, "You guys from Indiana are tough and are improving every year".

Being a guy from Texas and him telling me that really felt good. I really feel that the ISWA, the parents, athletes, coaches, etc. are moving in the right direction!! Keep up the great work!!

  11. If you haven't seen him on the football field, you are missing out. Nathan is a psychotic, raging maniac on the football field...his motor never stops!

I think by the time he graduates next year, he'll have D-1 offers for both football and wrestling...he'll have to decide. One thing is for sure...he is one wild dude! I have coached him since 4th grade (Club and Middle School) and the kid has special talents.

Congrats Nathan! We love ya, kid!

p.s. I missed out on Willmann's reaction to your PIN in the finals! I wish I could have seen that! LOL
