  1. If it went to Hammond Civic Center you could have all the Hammond schools be co hosts and run the tourney together. I would prefer ECC though. It has the same amount of seating on all 4 sides of the balcony.

  2. EC Central has plenty of space and would be ideal because state wouldn't have to pay rent. Hammond Civic Center is renovated and could probably be gotten cheap . The problem would be getting people in place to help work the tourney. The EC AD has a wrestling background and could handle it as long as he had enough capable people helping. Someone would have to step up and apply for the state to even consider it though. With the addition of wrestlebacks this year Merrillville is going to have to use 4 mats most of the day forcing everyone to be cramped into the balcony . It's going to be interesting to hear what Mr Faulkens or Mr Cox has to say if either shows up on Saturday .

  3. i believe vega was down in points and had to throw to win

I believe it was tied until Vega cut him and was down by 1 before he hit the throw for the win. Really got the arena rocking. The Saturday morning rounds always seem to have some good ones bright and early.

  4. I'm not sure this would make everyone happy, but is there any way to use the same formula or one similar to determine the top 8 teams per class and then have this tournament in the same season a week after the individual tournament? Since it would technically be held after the season, the teams wouldn't have to worry about too many weigh ins or having to drop a tournament off of their regular season schedule. This way you would be able to use kids from the current team and not have to waith for the following season.

  5. So ticket round still would exist, you would just get a second one in the consoles.  This helps ensure luck of the draw (due to uneven regional talent) doesn't have as much effect on the qualification of some.

So, how many extra rounds would this create? If this does happen , how much longer would a smaller site like Merrillville have to wrestle on 4 mats keeping the fans cramped in the balcony? It's tolerable  for 2 rounds because you know when they go to 2 mats that you'll be able to stretch out . Could make for a long day .

  6. It might be that chesterton wrestling against mville serves as their dual meet for the year.  That is how it works in the duneland.  Did penn have their varsity wrestle somewhere else the same day?

That wasn't their dual for the season. That is scheduled for this coming Weds night . So, even though they are wrestling again in less than a week, they still had no issues wrestling on Saturday. I believe if you want a dual that is wrestled during a super dual to count as your conference dual that most conferences require that it be wrestled the first match of the event.

  7. Other teams must not thinks its a problem since they are the ones who extend the invite. If they don't want penns JV there, don't invite them.

I agree. I think its a good thing for our sport. You're only as good as the ones you compete with. I do have to question Clay leaving rather than wrestle Penn in the final round. If you are in a tournament that has one of your conference opponents also entered you should be prepared for a scenario in which you may have to wrestle them. Chesterton didn't have any issues wrestling their conference opponent in the final round even though they will also wrestle in a dual soon. Competition can only make you better in the long run. Looks like there were some nice competitive duals at Merrillville.
