If the IHSAA can add pigtail matches for the no shows at Jay Co. ( a solid idea ), then they also should redraw the NC SS.
Joe Mullins
Well dad, you got the pigtail matches (which is great). Now lets see what happens to NC SS. Maybe they will redraw.

Does anyone else think they should have waited to release these until after the Richmond Regional played out? If I knew a first place finish would give me Brandon Wright in the round to go, I might think twice especially if a second or third place finish ensured an easier road to Conseco. Any other thoughts out there?
I am with ya. It should be redrawn.
However we wouldn't be having this argument if there were wrestle-backs!
-
The high moral and ethical ground is what we should all seek, but it doesn't always happen that way as we all know.
One perfect example:
If a 152 lb wrestler at the Richmond Regional finishes 2nd, he draws into the bracket with heavy favorite 34-0 and returning State Runner-Up Sammy Bennett, in the ticket round in his path to the Big Show at Conseco. If he finishes 3rd at Richmond he draws into the bracket with a solid wrestler from Crispus Attacks @ #1, in 33-6 Robert Hawthorne.
No offense to Hawthorne, who I've never met, but I believe most wrestlers would like their chances against him rather than Bennett, and because of the advance notice they can manipulate the outcome to their benefit. No other Regional wrestlers have the advantage of this choice, and neither should the Richmond Regional wrestlers. Period.
There should be no opportunity allowed for compromising the integrity of the draw whatsoever. Then we wouldn't have to place blind faith in the honesty, or lack thereof, in any of the coaches or wrestlers.
Anything less is a mockery. So that is where the high moral ground really exists, in a draw that can be in no way compromised.
I agree. We aren't just talking about the coaches here. These are kids that have seen these brackets, they aren't stupid. High School kids don't have the same moral fortitude as adults. By releasing these brackets, you have basically given adam the apple of knowledge but told him to not eat it.
I think a redraw would be good but really this wouldn't be a problem if there were wrestle-backs to third.

Mine That Bird winning the Kentucky derby. 50 to 1 odds

I believe Nick hit that tilt in the semi's to go to the finals, maybe it was in the quarter's but almost positive it was in the semi's.
I am pretty sure that was 2002 on friday night. There were three indy area wrestlers that won come from behind matches. Williams, Hobbs, and Mcginly, don't quote me on that though.
-
What was the best Friday night match at state that you remember. Danny Williams had a crazy come from behind his senior year that was awesome. What were some others?

Robles just beat Sanders (Minn) 19 to 10
Did you see Zach Sanders stomp on Robles back? I will now and forever think that sanders is a punk.
-
Wow, this is so lame. The Illinois faithful must be a little shocked that we beat them, so now it's "we don't send our best", "they put more emphasis on this meet", "they (Indiana) always send their very best".
A few posters give credit where credit is due, but the arrogance is a little off-putting.
Congrats to these Indiana teams for finally whipping our neighbors to the west. I think this is further evidence that Indiana wrestling is as strong as it has been in some time.
This meet was a lot of fun. Our boys wrestled their hearts out. These wrestlers deserve alot of credit and to hear the IL fans just brushing it off as they didn't send their best is a horrible excuse and a discredit to these kids. I think that the "A" meet should have been 31-22 in favor of IN at the end. I think that Shelby Mappes was robbed. He was holing on trying to not give up the takedown and his back was exposed but the ref let it go on without awarding a td. Shelby then lets go and goes to his belly, the takedown is then awarded followed by 2 backpoints. How can backpoints be awarded without even counting? And the ref cant count until a td is awarded. Also I think Gavin Mcginley had his kid stuck and the ref didn't call it. Well that is my tirade on that.
On a lighter note did you guys see mcginley's singlet? It looked like it was gonna split in the behind. Talk about a tight singlet.

Has Indiana ever beaten Illinois?
-
Is anyone planning on going? Have we ever beat IL? And also does anyone have any idea what the Illinois roster looks like?

Yep, I've been a CUBS fan for about 18 years, since I went to my first game there. I will not turn on the CUBS...Blue and Red are my baseball colors! 8)
I was a casual baseball fan until 3 years ago when I went to my first game at wrigley. Ever since that fateful day I have been an avid Cubs baseball fan. I try to watch as many games as possible on tv, and i used to hate watching baseball on tv! I don't see myself as a bandwagon fan, I mean everyone has to start somewhere right? My love for the Cubs will never falter.

Thank you scardy! now I am sure I will get many more boos for it, but who cares? GO CUBBIES!!!!!!!

Can you please advise as to where I can see this picture. Thanks for your help. Jim McLinn
Uh-oh heads are gonna roll now. The VP of the school is gettin involved!
I think what it means is the information is now in the correct hands. It will then be evaluated and handled based on what their judgment is, as it should have originally been. So no need to drum up the angry mob further on the message board.
I think the whole thing is bogus. It definitely didn't look like anyone was flipping off the picture. Too me it looked like index fingers and not middle.

Nickster90,
If IPS is the reason kids are not succeeding academically, how do you explain the low test scores and discipline problems of those kids who are bussed from the inner city to the township schools? It's not because the teachers are incompetent at IPS, it is because education is not valued in the home.
Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you at all. There is NO WAY I would ever send my sons to a school with a 39% graduation rate because in large part the students who attend the district have irresponsible parents. As a matter of fact, I think it is irresponsible for parents who have the means to send them elsewhere to send their children to such an incompetent failure of a school system.
BINGO!

Cathedral looked tough on Sat. That match between Mish was very very exciting. Congrats on a great season and for the team as well as their individuals at state.
-
My guess is we will all have to wait until Saturday to find out if any of this banter is worth the time at the keyboard...So why not just let the kids wrestle this out and let things happen as they happen?
There are 8 REALLY great teams in this thing!
Best of luck to ALL and here is to hoping for a healthy end of the season!
Why let the kids wrestle it out when we can post our opinions on the matter in relative anonymity. And it is more fun this way. ;D
-
I'll slap my grandma if a team from the bottom bracket wins it all. The big three on top are on another level than the ones on bottom.
-
The top half of the bracket is stacked with Mishawaka, Crown Point, and Cathedral.
Yeah the top half is a meat grinder. I hope they don't beat up on each other too much and have enough gas for the finals (also get through injury free).
-
young was pinned by Mcginley in the first place
It sure looked like the pin could have been called. I have seen quicker pins in the finals before.
-
phillips had a good run but tsirtsis had the the best finals match
No one but maybe Grey's momma thought he could win on Sat night. Had C-money been on the other side of the bracket it would have been a much better finals match. Phillips was more impressive.

KKLTeddy
Are the Cathedral wrestlers going to flip everyone off if they don't win this event also?
I was in front of the awards podium Saturday night and every Cathedral wrestler, except McGinley held their poster with their middle finger sticking out. Brandon Wright had BOTH of his sticking out.
How sad for the families of the other wrestlers to have a picture of their wrestler's accomplishment being degraded by the Cathedral wrestlers!
If that's true - post a picture of the 125 lb weight class. Johnny Grey is one of the most good-hearted kids I know. Show me some proof before you start slandering these kids.
Actually it is libel not not slander.

You make good points vito but I would much rather be in that bottom bracket than in the top.
New Castle brackets released????

Yeah but they are still kids.
Have you ever done anything unethical when you were a kid.
Would you want to win your regional if you knew you would be rewarded with seeing arguably the best in the state in the ticket round. These are 15-18 year old kids.
Y2, you put those kids in a very tough position to be in.
