  1. Would it be possible to throw me a bone once in a while and get some Ohio State results?

Believe me, I am interested and I am pulling for the guys with Indiana roots, but I would like to hear what else is going on.

    Team scores also please.

And one more thing go to that dairy on campus and have an ice cream for me.

What dairy?  We saw a Coldstone, but if there is something better, I want to know NOW!

    Rella beat Corpe

There is your token Buckey result

    No ice cream for you!

  3. If you are who I think you are, I would love to have 14 "average" wrestlers like you.

I would love my sons MSW team and my HS team to also.  But we just hope they learn and enjoy it now-a-days, winning comes secondary, IMO.

I don't keep secrets, my name is David McCubbins, the old and washed up one with the same name.

If you are old and washed up what the heck does that make me since I was involved in your championship match at Jr Nationals?

It makes you a seasoned veteran.  ;)

Seasoned veteren...I like the sound of that

  5. A few years ago after the finals I was in Chammps at the Mariott rehydrating after a long two days of officiating. I spotted Roosevelt Brown, who was then a scout for the Giants. Mr. Brown was a Hall of Fame offensive tackle for the Giants in the 50's and 60's. Some old timers say he was the best ever to play his position. I asked him if was Rosie Brown and he seemed impressed that someone who couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old when he played his last game recognized him. He asked me why I was in town and I explained I had just worked the State Finals. He told me he wrestled at Morgan State. He also said he liked football players with a wrestling background because they understood position and they seemed to pick up the finer points of technique easier than most other players.

Not a bad endorsement for wrestling from a Hall of Fame tackle.

  6. Keep in mind there is only so much money and so much room on the roster to go around.

Division 1 wrestling only gets 9 scholarships per team. This is something that I have never been able to understand since it takes 10 men to complete a full team. Most of the time those 9 scholarships are broken into partial scholarships. For example, they will make up the difference between whatever financial aid the wrestler qualifies for with a partial scholarship. This practice accounts for all those "full rides" you hear about.

So, if a particular school is out of money and they have 4-197lbers they probably aren't going to recruit a 197lber too hard.  Then the get a "bad rap" for not recruiting Indiana kids.

  7. Elkhart (a stone's throw from the MI line) all the way to New Castle.  I CRAWLED into be at 1:30 in the morning.  I woke up just in time for Daytona!

One year I worked the Team Semi State at Bellmont on a Wednesday and the Individual Semi State at Evansville on a Saturday-3 days later and I travled to both places from Noblesville.. You got off easy.

P.S. Remember when getting home at 1:30 am was fun?

  8. haha lets just say college makes your flaws very very evident ha ha ha

our ff was due to a couple idiots who decided class was not important our 41 pounder is actually our backup 133  i was told indy sent some of there team like panko to a tournament to get some extra matches but im not certain.

Sadly, the 41 pounder is from my old high school. As is the back-up 33 ponder and the starting 65 pounder. Fabio, tell Shumaker and Shannon I am proud of them and tell Falk I am going to kick his butt when I see him next time.

Pass along my best wishes to Shawn and Kurt and tell Bubba I am still waiting on that beer he has owed me for about 15  years.

  9. Does anyone know if you can do this in Greco or freestyle? Particularly out at Fargo.

Not officially.....but I happen to know the head offical at Fargo and by all accounts he is a very good guy and he might be able to work something out for you ;D
