  1. Please refer to page 20 of the CASE Book, Rule 4-5-5.

If they were unable to PRACTICE they would get 1 pound for each day they were unable to PRACTICE up to a 2 pound allowance. NOTE CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL IS NOT MENTIONED ONLY PRACTICE.

  2. Wrestling people are our own worst enemies. We cry and complain that we get little or no media coverage and then when we have a resource like this, we don't use it.

If the coaches don't have the time to post the results of a dual meet then assign a person...Asst Coach...stat person...team mom..

We don't market ourselves well....dual meets should be an event that is fan friendly. Why not schedule your dual meet with your biggest rival on a Friday or Saturday night? Invite your alumni....recognize fromer state placers/champs...have music and lights, maybe elevate the mat, and make it an event that people remember and want to come back the next time.

Make it fun and entertaining and people will come back. Take a look at what some of the Minor League Baseball teams do to draw crowds....they don't say "hey we got a game with Pawtucket tonight, come on out."

  3. I agree this young man should be practicing and he should also be encouraged by anyone in the wrestling community. However, he is NOT permitted to wrestle in a JV match...this by rule. He still must make 285 regardless of a JV or Varsity event. If you allow/permit this your and your school's liability insurance is worthless.

    Sorry.

  4. No, just checking something...  ??? ???  Kendle Cross won gold, Tim Brands won gold, Curt Angle won gold, Townsend Sanders won silver, and Bruce Bombgardner won bronze.

Now, for the moral of the story...  If pointing out others' mistakes was an Olympic sport somebody would have brought home gold from Beijing ::)

No, the moral of the story should be.....if one is making a point in a discssion then one should have their facts correct or one loses credibility

  5. Anybody remember Trish Saunders, or Vicky Zuma?  The both won medals in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games.  Trish actaully finished with a gold and her husband won a silver.  I bet they don't think it is a joke  :D

The legal conversations are great!  I just wish we had someone listening who had any power to change it.

Women's Wrestling was not an Olympic sport until the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Although Trish and Vicki Zummo (note that correction as well) were successful female wrestlers, neither of them competed in the Olympic Games.

  6. I'm more upset about 3 quarterbacks this weekend then the NCAA investigation.  I haven't given up hope yet.

I'm glad they got a jerk for a coach now.  I was tired of watching Carr be up on Northwestern by 30 and put the 3rd team in so they win by 7.  I was hoping they hired Tharp.  I'll settle for Rich Rod and see what he can do this year.

In Heaven, Bo ain't very happy right now....about the investigation and the 3 QB issue.

With Tharp you know exactly where you stand...with Rich Rod, I think not.

  7. can't really base it on just college wrestling though.  Alot of the kids from up in the northern states are the ones representing us in the olympics.  In  Beijing half of the Greco team was from the state of Wisconsin.  Indiana has had some very good individuals come thru but its not a top 10 state.

None of the Greco team in Beijing was from Wisconsin....it's possible a few of them might have had a layover in Milwaukee on their way to or from a competion or maybe one or two are Packer fan...but none of them are born and bred cheeseheads.

  8. Though the Pan Am games isn't on the level of the World Championships it is still some great competition and experiance for some up and coming young talent.  All 1st or 3rd (just one lose) is a great showing for Greco.  Glad to see we are having some good results both team and individually.

The Cadet Pan Ams are not even on the same level as the Junior Nationals...unless the Cubans are there

  9. Coach Peck,

While I value your opinion, I need to set the record straight on a couple of your points.  First of all, the rankings are still typed, I use a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet, so yes they may not be on a typewriter if that is what you are referring to, but nonetheless, the data entry is essentially similar.  As for getting info from the coaches, I would say that 75% of the information used in the rankings was done by me checking newspapers, results pages, etc. and 25% was emails from people, and of those emails, 75% of them were from fans, and 25% were from coaches.  There were really only two coaches who sent me regular emails, and by regular I mean once a week.  Those were Lawrence North and Hanover Central, and I was thankful for the emails from both.  I would be inclined to argue that the time made up by e-mailing, etc. is more than offset by the addition of the Key Wins and Losses column of the 2009 rankings.  By many accounts, the 2009 rankings were as accurate as they have ever been, and this is not to discredit the people who did the job before, because in their time they were all that was available.. however, I find it hard to believe (although not impossible) that people were spending 20 hours a week on the rankings before 2009 and still turning out such an inferior product, and much less often at that.  I guess the old saying holds true.. "work smarter, not harder."

I find it interesting that only two coaches provided information on a regular basis. I also find it interesting that only 25% of the people providing information were coaches.

One could gather that most coaches don't care much about the rankings.
