In order to receive the additional pound for consecutive day competition, it must be the same level of competition. Meaning if your varsity wrestled on Wednesday and Thursday, your varsity would get an additional pound. In your case only your jv team would get the additional pound on the second day.
If you move someone from jv to varsity they will NOT receive the additional pound.
Don't shoot the messenger.

I now regret adding Please Read to the subject line.

think about it though......a great way to save money.....instead of paying the real refs, just let those additional 200 do it......and on top of it all is that they paid to get in!......this might be the start of how we balance the national debt......
Let me know where you plan on doing this. I want to come and sit in the stands and hollar our random things that aren't in the rules book like everyone else.

Tom,
With all sincerity I was sitting here bored, avoiding doing notes on IEP's and grades and decided to stir some crap on here. It did provide me w/ a good 45 minutes of distraction. I guess since Coach Harrell went and got all technical on us, I'll just do grades now...
No problem...just remember what I have told you about the importance of rehydration.

When I posted this information this morning there were only two rules interpreters in the state of Indiana. Now I see there are several more. It's kind of like a 6-way on a Saturday...we start with 4 referees on 3 mats and the minute the 1st whistle blows we have about 200 addtional referees.
Please read what I posted because that is the way it will be interpreted. My job is not to agree or disagree with a rule. My job is to enforce the rule. When other referees try to tell me how they feel about a rule I ask them to talk with their wife or therapist about their feelings. When they tell me something isn't fair, I tell them the fair is in August at the corner of 38th and Fall Creek.
If you know me well then you know there might be just a hint of sarcasm in this post.

I just don't agree.
I think Optionals shouldn't count. That rule hurts schools that have both rural and city populations. W
How are optional practices mandated or kept track of?
How are mandatroy practices kept track of? I am hoping integrity would prevail.

It's so simple even a Findlay grad can understand it.

If one school at a meet doesn’t have practice the day before the meet each team at the event would be allowed a one (1) pound allowance.
If one school at a meet doesn’t have practice for the two days before the meet each team at the event would be allowed a two (2) pound allowance.
If one school at a meet doesn’t have practice for three or more days before the meet each team at the event would be allow a maximum of a two (2) pound allowance.
If all schools at an event have practice the day before a meet, no allowance would be allowed. The home school, or the Ads cannot get together and decide to allow a growth
It is considered a practice if it is voluntary or mandatory.

I went to IHSWCA Team State Duals today at Westfield HS today . What an incredible environment that facility was for this event! I'm sure some things could be tweaked, etc., but I just wanted to say "job well done". Coach O'Neill, former football Coach Belden, and middle school Coach Steele, could be seen throughout the day working hard to ensure that the event went smoothly. Their efforts as well as the efforts of other members of their staff, and their high school wrestlers did not go unnoticed. The Westfield parents working the concession stand were very helpful as well. Thank you Shamrocks for a tremendous day.
I couldn't agree more. It's the same at the Shamrock Duals.

Carver Hawkeye Arena is going to be rockin' tonight! This match was not originally scheduled by the Big 10 office so Coach Brands and Coach Sanderson did it on their own via Twitter!
Two great coaches who were both legends on the mat and two of the best programs in the history of college wrestling.
As an extra bonus the BTN is replaying last years' match from 7-9 on the BTN.

I'm hoping my Buckeyes can win a match or two.

New Castle just cancelled
-
Please remember athletes are only granted a 1lb allownce for tomorrow if their team is unable to practice today. If your school is cancelled today and you still have practice, then no additional pound tomorrow.
So, if school A is participating in an event on Saturday and they are unable to practice on Friday, each school in that event would receive a 1lb allowance. School A's coach and AD should make every possible effort to contact the host school who in turn would contact the other participating schools to notify them of the additional pound.
Please see rule 4-5-5 on page 18 of the 2013-14 Wrestling Rules Book

Something else to think about....if you move all the conference tournaments to one weekend, where are you going to find enough referees? Many of us work 2 seperate conferences, two weeks and one before sectionals. Moving everything to one weekend creates a major shortage.

One More Shot!!!! ;D lol it's a great movie buckaroo!
I always said if I got back into coaching and I wanted to punish my team, I would make them watch One More Shot! One year in Fargo USAW gave us this movie as a gift....it was overpriced.

I am very sorry to hear this. Dave was a fixture at the local and state ISWA events always lending a hand whether it be officiating, working a table, helping with weigh ins or mentoring a young official. Dave always, always, always had the best interest of the kids and the sport in mind. I will miss him.

Any predictions?
Yes, I predict that someone who didn't lift a finger to help organize, run, work, or volunteer at this event will come on here and criticize how it was done. ;D

I see you guys went and photoshoped Gelen's head on my body. Be thankful I'm not in the mood for copyright infringement issues.

And he could make a radio out of a coconut, but couldn't fix a hole in the boat. Of course if I was on an uncharted island with Ginger and Mary Ann I wouldn't worry too much about fixing the boat either.
