  1. Sohrabi wrestled very well winning bronze 3-2. Shaky start when Sohrabi seemed to def score a push out but wasn’t given and we didn’t challenge. Kept a very solid pace in 2nd period against very passive and defensively strong opponent.
  2. Sohrabi bronze medal match against Li from China about to start.
  3. At 60 Suzuki techs the kazak Sultangul so Dalkhani is out. Tonight Sohrabi wrestles for bronze, Alizadeh has a tough final against Berdimiratov, and from what I’ve seen today Kavianinejad needs a miracle against Akzhol.
  4. Uninspiring 1-1 win for Kavianinejad, Alizadeh also through to final comfortably 5-1. Sohrabi was 7-0 up but kaz won a challenge and he was cautioned 2pts and put in parterre. He managed to stand out and get behind for another 2pts but was rolled through and pinned by Shermakhanbet!
  5. Alizadeh and Sohrabi semis both on right now.
  6. Kavianinejad, Alizadeh, Sohrabi all through to semis. Dalkhani was 5-2 down against sultanguli but won challenge. Back to 3-2. Then he challenges an action he thinks he scored 2 off but wasn’t given anything. Lost the challenge and lost to kazak 4-2. He’s out.
  7. Kavianinejad beats Kim 9-3. Stream was buffering so much I literally missed all the action.
  8. Sohrabi through 5-2 and Alizadeh wrestling now but this streams so bad I might just give up. 3 tight guts for a comfortable 7-1 win.
  9. Asian games wrestling under way! Sohrabi up against North Korea now.
  10. Haven’t heard much from Amir reza himself, but with the greatest respect to his dad who was a fantastic wrestler in his day, he comes across a little entitled. Masoumi’s age group results & potential are unquestionable but why should he be guaranteed to go to the Asian games? It’s technically the 3rd most important event after Olympics and worlds. We sent him to the Asian Championships and frankly he performed very poorly. He’s so young, why not be a little patient, go and win Asians next year and prove this years shocker was a one off, then have a conversation about his position in the national side.
  11. I’m sure he would, just like Emami and our guys did with Tsabalov. Wrestlers want to challenge themselves and train with the best. Now let’s see if the American coaches would let him join one of the training camps in your German military base.
  12. Wow this is going to shake up the whole international scene. And agree with you about Tsabalov. Outside of major tournament camps it’s great to get different wrestlers in the room but a rival at one of the most competitive weights before world championships (and 2 years in a row no less)… Could you imagine the Americans letting Salkazanov join a camp with Dake ahead of worlds.
  13. I get where you’re coming from, it is a huge shame we don’t get to see some of our top guys competing more internationally, and it’s easy for me to say sitting at home when it’s not my career on the line, but for me country comes first. I mean, I’m not out here cheering for Atri for fun, I support every athlete representing Iran. And although wrestling is an individual sport the team element has always been a huge. Another thing, when it comes to the many Russians and Americans wrestlers that rep another country, they stay in their countries at their original clubs then just dust off the second passport when it’s competition time. Whereas with our athletes it’s much more of a case of defecting, normally for personal or political reasons, and they leave Iran permanently. (Not judging btw, everyone has their own situations and beliefs). So are we talking about Masoumi literally packing up and moving to Azerbaijan? Would be a huge shock honestly.
  14. Lol just cut out the middle man and set up training camp in Tel Aviv.
  15. Goleij to shock the world and get revenge over Tazhudinov!
  16. If a couple of those are gold I would be very happy with 6 medals across both styles.
  17. Freestyle, 4 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze) Greco Roman, 5 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze) How does everyone feel we performed this year? Overall I would say we were good, not great, over both styles. Obviously there were some disappointments but over the last few years the team has maintained a pretty high level.
  18. Wow gruelling pace from Orta in the 2nd period. Now legit at 67 too in time for Paris.
  19. Armenian brother came through for us there! After the way he looked this worlds bronze is a big result.
  20. Need a quick tech here pls, can’t see Geraei being able to wrestling Galstian for a full 6.
  21. Tbh already questioning if this Geraei can beat loser of Nemes Ismailov to qualify the weight for us…
  22. Geraei through to bronze match! Don’t know if I like his chances…
