  1. My take looking at the Olympics 57 - if Valizadeh improves we might have a chance at a medal 65 - amouzad - definite medal contender, chance for gold 74 - outside chance for medal 86 - second best wrestler, silver or bronze guaranteed depending on seeding 97 - very outside chance at medal heavy - gold medal favorite
  2. Please elaborate and educate us psrsonallo I do not think it matters. Matches are supposed to determine who the better wrestler is. Taylor was the better wrestler. Perhaps Yazdani would have won if the call went in his favor and just defend and stall? But Taylor deserved the win.
  3. I reread the rules What geno did falls under general prohibitions. As I read the rules , it is not clear to me what the penalty is for taking a prohibited action. I therefore defer to your expertise
  4. I believe cautions do not change the score, but if you get two, you are disqualified ( which is what happened to Sourian in thst infamous match)
  5. Agreed, but both are so young they are still far from their peak potential, and I think both, specially Massoumi will get even better i think 2024 Olympics belong to Zare, and 2028 will be a war. I think Massoumi may start struggling to make Wright at 125, since he is so tall and muscular.
  6. I believe Sourian for his first two gold medals by the time he was 21 That further demonstrates the magnitude of Zare’s accomplishment. What makes it more noteworthy is thst is he is heavyweight, where champions usually reign for a long time. I think his biggest threat for a long term reign is Massoumi.
  7. Yazdani is head and shoulders above every one in the world not named David Taylor. David Taylor is head and shoulders above Yazdani. This is turning into total domination by the US team, which is great for them the year before the Olympics and bad news for everyone else.
  8. I agree with you. I don’t think Yazdani did anything wrong this time. He simply lost to a better wrestler. last year he lost to someone he should have easily defeated. it is a different type of frustration, I don’t know which is worse.
  9. I was hoping Zare would get a chance to wrestle Perris, but this is a better outcome for the team competition for Iran
  10. ***potty mouth*** IRTV is not showing the other semi at heavyweight thst sucks
  11. I am so glad Zare got that down at the end It was otherwise an uninspired snd unimpressive match against a touch opponent
  12. The announcer on IRTV called Taylor’s performance “a demonstration of power and technique “
  13. Wow Taylor almost pinned him just now this match is over
  14. Daluetbekov is legit, he beat Ali Reza Karimi last year his defense is solid
  15. Hassan’s take down look fantastic, but I don’t understand why he stops after the take downs
  16. Retherford looks really solid. It will be a hell of a final. Have they wrestled each other before?
  17. I always believed that Amir Yazdani at his best is world class. the problem has always been his mental lapses So far, in this championship he has been focused and looking really good. now I am wondering if he will try 74 kg for the Olympics
  18. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwH7ADCIapc/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  19. Both of them are fairly well known to us. Zahid had mixed results, he defeated Ali Reza Karimi pretty easilly at the world cup, but got teched by the young Japanese in the recent tournament, both at 86k. Mersteller beat Savadkouhi at a ranking tournament which was a bit of a surprise to me
  20. I hope Ahora can grow fast enough to be the 57 kg rep for the seniors soon
  21. Meanwhile in the US, the team selection is complete Olympic champs Taylor, Snyder, Steveson win, Marsteller tops Burroughs, in men’s freestyle at Final X (teamusa.org) The big news is that Stevenson is back and will wrestle, Burroughs lost, cox was injured and did not wrestle Snyder. The US team is a formidable team.
  22. And the silver is due to an injury forfeit. So far, the boys are undefeated.
