If I heard correctly, Cathedral is no longer in this tournament?
-
I think we could possibly see Hudkins at 20, and he would be my pick. but, no matter what weight these athletes go.. It's gonna be another great season!

RUTH. Wow. Dismantled Friev. If you guys didn't know, the Russian that Metcalf beat was ranked #1 in the world. USA is becoming the dominating force it used to be. I can't wait for the world team trials!
-
Just curious. DJ is a very talented wrestler quite obviously, but did you try to get ahold of an actual 120 pounder?
-
Weakest spots seem to be 113, 120, and 138.
-
Brennan vs. Ditka then?
-
Congrats to Forrest Glogouski on dominating a 2x State Champ!
-
Kid has some serious genes!

I thought he beat Hernandez in the semis and lost to Hector Mendez in the finals?
Yes he did beat him, and lost to Mendez like 9-8 in the finals. I believe he beat Jordin Humphrey in the semis too.. There is another name for the list.

I thought Osborn looked smaller of the two in the finals...
thickness, yes. Stevenson was a pretty broad dude. I wasn't talking about who was bigger though. I guess I consider anyone above 152 big, since i'm a small fellow myself. lol
-
Ummmm. I thought Hughes looked very small for the weight class. And Osborn was 166 and never cut an ounce.
Drew might not of looked it, but he was a large 138. I had a pretty big cut. And Osborn did look huge in the finals! Must be the lights.

At 195 Tieshawn Johnson. Kid was chunk of muscle.

I'm sorry, but everyone being on the same page will never happen. It would be great though.. What a dream!I completely understand a wrestler and their family wanting to make a point and not wrestle if they are not allowed to be on the team of their choice. I get the frustration about someone trying to control something that should ultimately be up to the wrestlers to choose. However, I can also see the other side of the argument for trying to put all of the best wrestlers on one team to represent the state. My son competed in "national" dual tournaments all through elementary and middle school. There are many times that we showed up to compete where there were several Indiana teams. Most of the teams did well but none usually won the tournament because the wrestlers were so spread out among the different teams. We definitely had enough "studs' there from Indiana to dominate but when they were all on different teams they were competing against each other, not together.
It is great that so many people want to compete on these teams and it is awesome that people like Joe are stepping up to offer the opportunity to more of them. I personally do not care if the best team that is put together is the Gold team or the Indianamat team but one of them should be the best to represent the state as a whole. I would really like my son to be on whichever one of those teams turns out to be the top one but this confusion between the two groups has made it really difficult for the wrestlers to know what team that might be. Some are afraid to commit to the Indianamat team in case they end up not being able to compete and now some are suggesting that kids boycott all together because of that. In the end, the state is still missing out on putting together the best possible team as a whole and the wrestlers that are going are being shortchanged because of the ones that are missing from their team. It would be really great if everyone could just get on the same page and do what is best for everyone involved.

If we are doing one day, I know a kid from a blue and yellow school with blonde hair that certified at 119.2, and weighed 133.4 at the end of the day. ???
-
I know of a few very good wrestlers that are so fed up with the IHSWCA, that if they cannot compete on the Gorillas because they are "supposed" to wrestle on Gold or Blue, they are simply not competing at all.. Isn't it about the kids to start with? Should it matter what teams our ringers wrestle for? As long as they represent Indiana in some way, there shouldn't be an issue..
-
I'd say he had a much tougher time winning it than most of you would think, considering he defeated the #6 kid in the country...
-
A picture on instagram shows Jacob Cottey weighing about 141.

More Bromances..
Jayruss and Brenden Kelley.
jgmotorfan and Chad Red.
-
My guess is Caprino will have a better team than the actual Indiana Gold team.

Nothing wrong with wrestling on a knee. If a kid is quick enough to move and attack his opponent off of his knee (Bailey LaHue, D.J. Smith) then fire away! It's entertaining to see the opponents reactions as well.

I can sum this whole topic up with one clip, enjoy...
Beautiful.
-
Although I admire your passion for this topic (sarcasm) you guys are grown men. Defend your kids, yes. But now it's out of hand. Bury the hatchet fellas.
