  1. 3 Penn wrestlers are facing ranked guys from Mishawaka.

Varner vs hardest ranked 10th at state 2nd ss

Beam vs Hesch 13th at state 4th ss

Chaffee vs Faulkner 9th at state 2nd ss

if rankings and opinions mean anything than this would not even close matchup given most of the Penn guys are ranked at state and semi state.

luckily for all of us watching anything can happen and it should be a great dual.

  2. for me it would be someone who is there for there teammates even when they themselves are struggling.

Someone who puts the effort and time in healthy or not.

A respectful display on and off the mat and a constant drive to move ahead and leave the disappointments of the past behind.

  3. very cool story... if the kid never made it to the mat at state again what he did is as worthy of the respect and pride of the wrestling community as winning the title.

I don't know this young man but I would hope my own son would have the courage to do the same.

    class act for sure.

  4. After seeing the 132lb regional the best 4 definitely made it through.

I was not suprised warner finally beat  hersh the kid has heart.

Childers over beam was not a big suprise...beam has all the heart in the world just seems to lack some technical stuff...he has definetly been the under acheiver for penn.

Unless beam gets better technically I dont see him starting next season.

olsen seems to be struggling this season getting it done.

Childers...is a pretty solid guy...watch for him at semi state.

I agree that the the 4 best guys that day did make it out and congrats to the all of them.

Childers was solid and definetly had some strength.

As far as Cam under achieving i guess by his own expectations you are right.

I would never count him out because i know how hard he works and the drive he has to get better.

He will have to work on stuff in the off season because you know as well as i the guys coming up will be nipping at your heals...he will be in the mix next season

  5. I woke up this morning still feeling the pain of my sons first round loss at regionals knowing the mental toll it is taking on him knowing he is the only one on his team that didn't advance to semi-state.

this being the second year in a row and numerous times the last 2 years being the guy on the bubble.

I set here with thoughts in my head...how does he keep going.

He spends the day devestated in tears and the first thing he's says to me in the mourning is dad will you take me to a tournament today so I can help out.

Shame on me me for questioning why he keeps going.

It's what he does...I realize he's got more heart than me.

as I set here choking back tears feeling like the proudest dad in the world.

the thought comes to me I have a pretty special kid.

Hang in there buddy...I'm proud of you

  6. the Baylor site shows they are 13 time team state champs.

and they have produced 83 individual state champs.

they have 13 wrestlers that have went on to be nationals champions.

I don't care what division you are that's impressive.
