I am trying to get in touch with one of the coaches from Shenandoah. Please PM any information.
Thanks.

You can still design your fight shorts and compression shirt in a different way for State. I see a ton of positives for switching. Most teams have fight shorts nowadays anyways so you would really only add the compression shirt. I have had seniors who have the same fight shorts from freshman year. Obviously they are not competing in them all year long, but two to three times a week in practice and all of our meets during warmups, plus some of the kids where them around school or wherever. The durability of the fight shorts are going to be what you pay for them. We pay $30 and they seem to hold up just fine.

I am looking to get in contact with Coach Mark Mendoza. If anybody has any contact info I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I heard the assistant principal at the high school is amazing and knows a little about the sport. See if she can help!
I've also heard her husband knows a little bit about wrestling as well? Maybe she can talk him inot helping out as well!
If worst comes to worst I'd say just send them one county south to wrestle there though
I actually did have one of mine a few years back move to Greensburg. He was a senior and coach Cochran had him for one year.
Thank you everyone for the great ideas. I will definitely try implementing some of them and hopefully things will get started in the right direction!

It all starts with building numbers at the lower levels. What type of club program do you have in place for kids at the elementary level, do you run elementary camps or an entire club program? What involvement do you have with the middle school development? Do you have coaches in the building? What is your relationship with the football coach, this can be huge in working as a team to get kids out for your program.
We have a pretty solid elementary group. We have around 50 kids participating. Our MS team has around 20-25 kids. I know I will lose some of those to basketball when they get in high school. I teach at one of our elementarys. I don't have anyone at the high school and that's very tough. Our football coach has a "football or nothing" mentality, which is depressing since we are not very strong in football.

I'm curious how some schools who maybe haven't had the most success in recent years and haven't had the numbers get kids to come out and wrestle. At Rushville we have around 800 kids. We wrestled at Sectionals with 7 with 10 on the team. I've been coaching at Rushville for four years now and we have never had more than 20 kids. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Long distance running and wrestling have nothing to do with each other
I wrestled with several guys that ran Cross Country, and they had amazing gas tanks. For most CC athletes, coming into the season is probably an easier transition than football or tennis because they have been blowing their lungs out for an entire season. I do agree that wrestling is a different type of conditioning, but coming in from CC sure helps.

CJ just became a 4x undefeated state champion. Acting as if it were another match is plain ludicrous. None of you on here have ever come close to accomplishing that, therefore, you do not understand how it feels. Another problem is that a lot of you believe that your OPINIONS are facts, which is not true. The "proper behavior" after winning is a matter of OPINION. So for some of you to get on here and bash a 17 year old kid who just won his 183rd consecutive match and 4th state title because he celebrated really bugs me. Just because CJ's behavior is not in correlation with your OPINION on how to win, does not give you the right to say it is wrong. Someone can just as easily say doing nothing after a win of that magnitude is wrong. That is the beauty of life, you can live how you feel is correct. Congratulations to CJ. You earned it.
First off, let me say that I was rooting for Red and I am glad he won. Those types of kids come along once in a lifetime, and his wrestling ability has been a pleasure to watch. Now I was a little surprised at how he reacted. I was hoping for some break dancing or something. I did not expect him to run off the mat like that. As far as his dad acted, that is another story. The article in the Star quoted Sr. saying " I don’t want to say it’s done, but we’ve put in the work to prepare for this – he says it almost sympathetically." To me Sr. knew it was going to happen already, so why act like he did? I for one would have gone crazy if my son just won his 4th state title and finished undefeated, but the way he talked about it happening before hand, made my wonder why he acted like he did. Anyways congrats to Chad and I can't wait to see what he does at Nebraska!

I played tennis in the fall and baseball in the spring. I think both really helped with my footwork on the mat. I was in the weight room on my own most of the time so even thought I didn't play football, I was still lifting and getting stronger.

Can we get them in pants? I would totally wear them while coaching!

Not sure, but I would love to see a parris-samuels(hwt) match. Not sure what the weight difference is right now.
Nothing against Samuels, as I really was impressed with him at Semi-State and State, but Parris has been on another level all year. The only reason the finals were as close as they were, 13-4, is because Larson was wrestling to keep it close and not get pinned or teched. Parris is a freak.

106 Black, Murphy, Walendzak, Strueder
113 White, Schaefer, Nier, Lohrey
120 Smiley, Culp, Bocock, Jerde
126 Bailey, Loos, Holmes, McGhee
132 Red, Phillips, Melloh, Flood
138 Eldred, McKinney, Flood, Lane
145 Vaughn, Timberman, Negangard, Boggs
152 Johnson, Pruitt, Berkebile, Michaels
160 Bane, Ruberg, Frazee, Wilson
170 Hill, Stambaugh, Samuels, Goddard
182 Rypel, Worm, Irick, Hoots
195 Stewart, Tonte, Fox, Ferris
220 Parris Guhl, Hipple, Fuller
285 Minges, Brogan, Phifer, Dollens
These results could go so many different ways. This semi-state is absolutely brutal and there are multiple state placers that will not get a chance to wrestle at state. Such a shame. Good luck to everyone!

Tucker Coffman beat Eiteljorge 13-7 at Connersville but in my opinion there is no way he will beat Timberman unless Timberman chokes big time.
Also I saw that Timberman injury defaulted in the finals. Will he be able to wrestle with his injury? And if he isn't 100%, that could close the gap.

Maybe but those are all three solid wrestlers and one tough four man bracket.
