I can speak for Cambridge City, being that i am the head coach...we originally had 11 guys, and yes due to the flu, we have had 3 out because of it, i also had 2 out with injuries and one who was ineligible, we considered cancelling the match, but my 4 guys who were there and healthy wanted to wrestle, we left it up to Rushville to decide and they wanted us to come. So yes we traveled 40 minutes for 4 matches, but i'll drive 40 minutes if it means getting those 4 guys some extra mat time.
I totally agree with you coach...I'm not trying to attack you or your program. All I'm saying is wouldn't it make more sense to wrestle one more weekend tournament and drop all of the individual duals?
-
True but are fans going to stick around when they get to watch four matches and watch ten others take ff? I dunno
-
If teams only have four eligible wrestlers then we have some pressing issues that we need to deal with first.
The sent us a roster with 11, and the others were out sick or injured, which I understand happens, but what good does it do anybody to travel 40 minutes to an hour to wrestle for 20 minutes? At least on the weekend you can get 4 other matches
-
We had the same thing happen on our Senior night at Rushville..we wrestled Cambridge City, and they only brought four wrestlers that wrestled...we did not charge admission...good reason why we just need to get rid of the week day matches...we have had two duals that were over in 30 minutes or less because of the lack of numbers for whatever reason

Will they cross bracket the losers or just drop straight down?

I can tell you that I was one of many that told cody phillips when he was just beginning in elementary that he can do whatever he wants and the sky was the limit...i dont think me saying anything hurt his growth being a 2 time state champ, 4 time conference and sectional champ and current minnesota wrestler.
Yes because you are the reason Cody is where he is today...congratulations
-
according to you then, you cant express that any athlete has what it might take to actually make it? so you cant tell a kid that "yes, you can be anything you want to be"? come on man. get real.
Sure you can...but I'm realistic..I'm not going to tell a kid he is gonna be a State Champ when he will be lucky to get out of sectionals..set you goals high but make sure it is attainable
-
oh my gosh, are you freaking kidding me. get over already. for one, yes I do and two, this young man dont even know I exist so I put no pressure on him. I am a fan. I haveseen that this kid, as a sophomore, has more ability and skill in him than I see in most seniors or college players already. Why are you so against my post of praise for a kid. Did he beat your son or something. some people. wow!
I don't have anything against Trawick...he is a great athlete, but he is still young...lots of things can happen between now and graduation...just because he doesn't know who you are, do you think high school wrestlers never get on here and read this stuff?
-
you probably haven't seen him play football then...my guess is after the next 2 and a half years of wrestling and football, I'm sure you will still hear the name in college and possibly pros. This kid is for real.
Do you have any idea what kind of athlete it takes to play at the collegiate level and even more so in the pros? You sure are putting a lot of pressure on this young man
-
ya?
I wasn't there so I don't know if he wrestled there or not. Hopefully we can have someone from New Pal shed some light on this for us
-
This beast is only a sophomore. Remember his name. You will be hearing it for a long time
I'm guessing only for about two and a half more years!
-
I heard Tommy Cash weighed in at 113 this past weekend...could make things interesting at Semi-State

Due to an injury or sick or what? Why would the coaches allow him to wrestle if he wasnt 100% and could barely stand?
Due to sickness...if you have seen any of UC's score you can tell they haven't wrestled 100% as a team all year...Fuller is a competitor and wouldn't sit out unless he couldn't walk onto the mat
-
No specific details sorry just know Winchester's only winners were Rascon, Gough, and Jessup
Still think Fuller will win at TEC but Rascon controlled the match tonight. Fuller looked a little sluggish as well.
I heard Fuller could barely stand up...my prediction for Conference...Fuller by pin or tech...when he is 100% he is out of Rascon's league...good win for him though regardless

Winchester won
Rascon over Fuller
What was the score? I'm shocked...Rascon lost to a freshman from UC last year..wow

Rushville returns to New Castle Saturday

This tournament is so hard to predict for several reasons...the biggest is the blind draw...another reason is there are a lot of good kids that people never heard of that I am sure will make some noise and surprise some people...and finally you never know if the kids will make the weight or have a skin issue...I can remember a couple of years ago everyone was excited to see Phillips vs Todd and neither wrestled that day...lots of things could happen
-
Cole Maggard at 113 was unable to wrestle in the sectional last year due to head injury, but this kid was 39-0 going into semi-state his sophmore year with 2 sectional championships and a regional championship. I see him as one of the top wrestlers at his weight 113lbs. He beet New Pals taylor fee ranked 11th at 126
Maggard hasn't wrestled at all yet this year....hopefully missing this much time won't have an effect when it comes crunch time.

Rushville 15 vs Connersville 63
Rushville is 6-4 on the season.
Next match is Thursday at New Castle

You are underestimating Isaiah Michaels which is the centerville kid at 120.
I saw Michaels wrestle this weekend and while yes he is a decent wrestler, I do not think he will come close to beating Bowers from UC....now could he improve a lot before the end of the season? Absolutely, but I don't see it happening...kid has a bright future though.
-
Connersville 52 Batesville 12
Exactly how I thought it would be...Connersville has good depth this year.
