  1. There is no such thing as "strength of schedule" in the seeding criteria

but it truly does effect the winning percentage argument......28-2 with both your losses to the #1 kid and wins over state ranked kids versus 30-0 with the the toughest kid you wrestled was #6 at semi state......but then you would be looking at rankings to help you decide......no good way sometimes.......

  2. so what if that happened?.....you have two kids that are both 30-0, they both have wrestled tuff schedules and are ranked 1 and 2 (or just highly ranked) in the state?.....surely you can't go by rankings because that is just someones opinion (no offense to the rankings guys......lol).....can't imagine that hasn't happened at some point......

  3. i've seen the flip of the coin settle it......sometimes it's just to close to call especially if you start using winning percentage because then you need to consider strength of schedule.....and that opens up another can of worms......it could go on forever!

  4. wow......did you write that with me in mind?........lol......those are all so spot on........1, 2 and 10 really hit home with me.......my boys started wrestling at jimtown in their kids club about 12 years ago.......12 years!........i remember it like it was yesterday and now we are about 1 month from being finished with high school wrestling......i can't say enough about what wrestling has done for both of my boys.......they are both great young men and a lot of that has to do with this sport and the great coaches they had to mentor them along the way....

Memorial wins team title by 20 + points

  6. if i'm not mistaken, wrestling at a different weight also effects seeding points.......say you wrestled half the duals at 106 and the other half at 113 but won them all.......then you go 106 for the NLC championship.......i believe you still get points for the 113 wins but not as many?........i'm sure someone on here knows the correct answer.......

  7. I could be wrong but I have heard that the NLC adopted this method because of long and contentious seeding meetings.  I

lol.......you are correct in that there have been some long ones......and yes troll that's how it is - you get points for each match you wrestle.......i believe the margin of victory, win or lose, which weight you were at, etc all play into the point total.......so it's not that you don't get seeded, you just may not have enough points to get the #1 seed.......sectional s is coming up though at elkhart memorial and that is seeded like the most of the rest so i'm sure we will get another long drawn out affair.......lol

  8. you could be the # 1 ranked wrestler in the nation but if you missed some conference matches due to say injury, you would (probably) end up somewhere back in the pack because you didn't accumulate as many points as someone who wrestled all the matches at that weight, even if they had a loss to the # 1........

Need to do some more investigation on the blank ones........can't recall who beat who at the moment......

  10. so the end result seems to be (barring the tech situation) that if you end up on your back for a 2 count, regardless of how you got there, regardless of who is in control, regardless of rather you are scoring points at that time or not, you should be called pinned......

  11. Let's try it this way.....

Red is ahead 14-0 and puts green on his back in a pinning combination. The referee begins his count for near fall. Once the referee counts to two, red cannot lose unless he commits an act of flagrant misconduct.

The proper term is near fall earned (not awarded). Once the referee gets a two count in for the NF red has won by at least a tech fall. The referee should allow red to go for the fall. If green comes out of the pinning situation the match is over. Red could only lose of a flagrant misconduct foul.

but what if red pins himself while trying to get the fall?.......never came out of the pinning combo but put himself on his back.......according to the case book page 90 it seems that would apply in this case.......

  12. but you don't stop the match even though the points were there because the match will continue since there is a chance for a pin......so if the wrestler controlling the spladle keeps it going trying for the pin, but lays his shoulders to the mat, i would think it would be a pin according to the rule......but you wouldn't think that would be right.......grecoref, what's the answer?........how would you call it?

  13. Rule 5-11-1 page 21 of the rules book defines the defensive fall.

When any part of both shoulders or both scapula of EITHER wrestler are in contact with the mat for two seconds....

i would say that settles that.......thanks!

  14. question - if wrestler A is performing a tilt on wrestler B and although wrestler B doesn't have either shoulder on the mat, his back is facing the mat so the ref is counting back points for wrestler A, but in the process, wrestler A puts his own back to the mat.....can/will the ref call a pin against wrestler A even though he was scoring points? wrestler B was never in control but wrestler A got sloppy and out of position......

  15. I understand that the Region has had teams invited and they chose not to attend.  So if they want to challenge the "validity" of MD's championship then they need to man up and come to the event.

Also, if you feel that you need an All-Star team to beat MD, I would say that lends a ton of validity to their 3A title.

    Fish eaters?  Really?

    that's for sure.
