i can see where a wrestler might be in a wait and see type of situation, but if that is the case, they should know by weigh ins.  the alternate wrestler should at least be made aware that they might have a chance to go.

This wasn't a wait and see situation. They knew in last weeks semi finals when he went to the hospital after getting hurt.

If you know at regionals that your wrestler is not going to be competing the next weekend at semi state, why can't you do the right thing and give the alternate a chance to wrestle.. Instead of injury defaulting. Terrible and such an unclassy move.

I just re-checked the brackets; In his second match, he was pinned by Eric Blodgett in 17 seconds, wrestled all the way back to the 3rd place match and beat Blodgett 7-6. That is an outstanding comeback.

That would make sense. If I remember it was a bit of a surprise loss. Otherwise they look pretty good for not having seen anybody on the mat this year.

I think the original surprise loss was at sectionals for him. He finished 3rd and wrestled Riecke from east noble who finished 2nd at his sectional. And yes they don't look too bad!

He got beat 1st round at regionals last year. I agree with you he is a solid wrestler, but I'm guessing the one doing the rankings is going off last year results.

Hard to say Beebe is a darkhorse. He has natural talent, and good coaching. He will have a good season, as long as he stays healthy

My 5 month old daughter was there and usually is in bed around 8 o'clock every night. I text my mom around 9 to see if she was asleep, and she said "nope, she is wide awake!" I thought to myself she obviously is in love with the sport already! Haha gotta love the IHSAA State Finals! The best and most exciting state finals out of all sports!

I believe Tommy Churchard from Valpo and Eric Roach From Crown Point wrestled each other in the finals from sectionals thru states the year Tommy was state champion. I think those were eric's only loses that year. All four of them to Tommy
