  1. Breaking down the state tourney into classes isn't the way to go.  Now you are looking at multiple state champs, runner-ups, placers etc.  Being classed keeps that uniqueness to our state, adding classes only taints the title, "State Champ" now the next question every person (including college coaches) asks is "what division was it?  I love the idea of knowing at the end of the day, you and you only were the state champion, you were the best wrestler at that weight class in the entire state, YOU were the best, not the best in that division.

My old assist. coach in college posted this once and I thought it was pretty true:

"High school coaches its time to have that talk to your seniors, ask them why they worked so hard for so long to become the best wrestler that they can be. They would probably would answer so that they could be a be successful in high school and have the opporitunity to pursue their passion at the collegiate level, now ask them if that was their goal and they worked so hard to reach it then why are they now sitting around waiting for an invitation to apply to a college, or waiting by the phone instead of picking up that phone to contact the coach of a program they want to become part of.

Heres a little secret, initiative goes a long way and showing some motivation and taking control of the direction you want your life to go in is often times the best recruiting aspect of all."

I though that was pretty solid.

  2.

I know kaden and he is a very nice kid! Try not to bash the kid before getting to know him!

He may be a nice kid, but when it comes to answering the topic "Most Impressive/Least Impressive" I'd have to say he was least impressive at the state championships IMO.  Who knows maybe he had an off day, I just know if I were the heavy favor to win a state title I'd probably hold my Finals celebration in for the finals....not Friday night/Sat. Morning.

I'm sure he will do good things with Ester and Indiana Tech in the fall...

  3. Most Impressed:

Petrov, cut's the kid and just goes after whats rightfully his and takes it...gotta love it!

Bradley, didn't give up a single offensive pt all Semi-State/State.

Sliga, pining his way through the Finals.

    least Impressed:

Kaden Suter, found it odd after each win there was a state finals celebration.  ::)

  4. Not enough room is not a good excuse if you would of seen how close the walls were at the Regionals in Cumberland,KY last weekend it would change your mind. Not only does it make more exciting wrestling but it speeds up the matches also alot less going out of bounds.

Thank You!  It honestly makes the wrestling that more exciting, think about it .....MORE ACTION= MORE EXCITEMENT, unless its just to fish flopping around lol...  ;D

  5. Don't know what the big deal it.  This is the same as asking "What if football fields were wider?" or  "What if the foul ball posts were wider?"  The rule is there, wrestlers follow the rule.  There should be any complaining about "What if"  people know the out out of bounds is there so make sure you are inside the circle. Simple enough.

My point is if the rule was used like it is in college there would be MORE points being scored, MORE action continuing throughout the match, and less time stopped to go back to the center.  I can see why some people would use the explanation for safety(understandable, somewhat) but honestly what might be a factor (and you see it now in matches) is I'm not sure if some refs feel comfortable enough making the correct call on the edge, so they anticipate the action on the edge and stop it before it can really go out of bounds.

  6. Those Alexandria coaches really get this kid fired up and peeking at the right time! What an exciting guy to watch, does some of his best work in Feb! Can't wait to watch Luke compete for a state title next season!

  7. It would be interesting to hear some opinions about the amount of wrestling that's lost on the edge of the mat.  I saw a lot of good takedowns this weekend where wrestlers dragged there toes/had a leg in the air/had a turn locked up(etc) but the action was stopped or called out of bounds.  I personally like the college rule where you just need one body part in.  It creats more action on the edge and allows more points to be awarded on the ENTIRE mat surface.  Any luck this rule might change in the future?

  8. 1- I don't know why robinsons coaches didn't tell him, "hey there's 1:30+ left in the match, we don't need 5!"

2- just another reason why they need to change the out of bounds rule, you lose so much wrestling on the edge due to this darn rule.  I think it should be similar to college when it comes to out of bounds but that's just my own opinion. Good luck to both in the future.

  9. I bet if you took a look at 2004 Olympic Freestyle Silver Medalist, and current ranked 9th in the world Pro Fighter(probably higher then 9th now bc she just recently beat the #5 girl like a read headed step child) you'd think twice about all boys having more muscle mass then girls  ;D  Good luck to all the Semi-State competitors this weekend!!  Good luck to Ms. Miracle as well!

  10. WHat was the score of Yorktown and the team you pull for last year?

I wasn't pulling for a team they wrestled last year, whats wrong is wrong. I tell you what though, they'd make an excellent college coach when it comes to making recruiting calls ;-)

  11. What, recruiting(?!?!?!?!), no way not Yorktown, just like there shirts said last year, so ironically, they're ALL "Home Grown"  ;) bahahahhahahaha yea, riiiight....if you believe they're really "Home Grown" and all from Yorktown, your either 1.) a Yorktown fan, 2.) completely oblivious to that program, or 3.) you've never met their Assist. Coach......lol ....."Home Grown" bahahaha.  ;D
