  1. Whoever said CP wins b/c they "listen to their coach" is completely ignorant.  How many of CP's studs are Scott Vlink trained?  Scott Vlink was given a gift with all of the talent that Bill Hawkins and others produced that happened to either live in Crown Point or later move into Crown Point and he is simply along for this ride.  Let's not forget the similar situation that happened at Griffith at the beginning of the last decade.  I believe that this one down in CP will turn out much the same.

This takes the cake as the dumbest paragragh ever written.

    Where do I begin?

  2. was Crown Point a state Power 10 years ago? Did all of the medals that came through CP not wrestle for a kids club at CP that Hawkins coached? Yes he coaches RWA now. Also did CP not get better with move ins the same way other schools have? That doesn't take away from CP being really good.

    LOL

  3. LPD

Quit teasing the folks, give em what they want, haha.

We will have to see what happens in the game, I know one thing, I am pumped as usual. I guess I'm a sore loser, but I just cannot accept that Lowell has been the better team the last 10 years or so..... despite what the record indicates. It's seems to me that we just can't get it going by week 1, the offense takes a while to get moving. Ol' Pettit has gotten outcoached a few times too. If the game was played on paper we would beat them soundly every year, our team just seems to lack the toughness and intensity that the Red Devils have.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for how hard that program plays, Kirk Kennedy was a helluva football coach, unfortunatley, I think he will have to expand his playbook against the big boys in Indy. You just can't run counter, iso, power every play and throw in  a bootleg every once in a while and move the chains against those guys. If Kennedy had a nickel for every time he proved me wrong, he could buy a football team, I just think he is really up against it in Bloomington.

You know, people move everyday. Crown Point is a really good community, school, and wrestling program. Why wouldnt someone want to move there? But i know when it comes out, people are gonna throw a fit. And they really have nothing to be upset about.

  4. hmmmm

I've heard a few "rumors". I don't want to be the first to say. I know one thing, some people are gonna throw a fit.

Hey Lpd096. Wanna place a freindly wager on the Lowell C.P football game? I'll even spot ya a touchdown.

  5. CP is the favorite IMO

There performance at this years team state was a little decieving, a lot of wind was taken out of there sails when they found out Hawkins and Cope were gonna be out.

There horses are back for the most part, i think they have 2 favorites with roach and tsirtsis and 2 darkhorses with flamme and kral, they  have a few solid freshman incoming, and halsted will be back

Its a long way away, but it looks good for the dogs

  6. I think #19 is pretty appropriate

Mishiwaka was a very good team in a fairly weak year for teams in the state

After losing 8 starters from 08-09, all of us at Crown Point thought we were going to really struggle as a team this year,  I bet Crown Point has had 5-10 teams since Vlink arrived that were better than this one and we were still arguably the 2nd best team in the state.

  7. I know the dual at the Traicoff was out of reach, but CP has really been stepping it up come tourney time the last few years, and they looked excellent at the team regional. It is truly amazing that they lost 8 starters of last years squad and yet they are still a top 5, probably more like number 2 team in the state.

Has Mishiwaka's lineup changed at all?

  8. I guarentee had the early swing matches gone Da Ville's way Napules would have wrestled.

And I'm not even really saying that would have been unethical or whatever. Just the way it is in competetive sports. The pirate coaching staff would have found a different way to discipline him, no question about it. With championships on the line those disciplinary measures tend to be bent a tad, especially with the star athletes.

Word is he was wasn't clear on wether he would be competing Wednesday evening, it wasn't until the last second he was told to take a seat.

  9. The Malonado love fest is getting old.  I agree that he is a great coach, and I realize he is region royalty, but come on.  There are a lot of other great coaches in the region that deserve credit too.  I'm not even gonna name names because I don't want to get into a foodfight on here.  All I ask is that some of you posters stop acting like Maldonado is the second coming.  One thing I will say is his senior laden team got pummeled by a young CP team that was supposed to be rebuilding.  I realize it could be different next time, but it just seems odd that Maldonado would be getting so much credit when his team got handled last night.  Please don't take this as an attack on Maldonado (which I know some of you Merrillville people will).  Like I said, he is a great coach and I will root for the Pirates at state if they make it there, just like I would any other region team.

I couldnt agree more, I will say his kids wrestle tough, and i guess they are in good shape, but as far as there technique goes.....ehhh.

Also, i think the ville is a better team this year, CP's victory will be a curse, If I were a betting man I'd put my money on the pirates in the rematch. People will say "look CP choked, Moldonado is a magician blah blah blah"  Just like they "choked" in 2008, when they lost a close dual to the 3rd best team in the state.....give me a break.

EVERYTHING went to bulldogs way last week, I just don't see that happening again.

  10. Well, let's just say with the well timed "movin-ins" (Halsted, Roach, Tsirtsis),  CP gained a nice team.  No greatness on Vlink's part. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.  Without those studs, CP doesnt even get past Merrillville at Team Regionals last year.  A great coach like Maldonado builds em from the ground up.

Please tell me that was a joke..........please!!!!!

I dont have enough fingers and toes to count the move ins from the villes teams in the past 5-7 years
