Any word on the kid from Jimtown that got hurt on that slam? I was watching the webcast, and they said he had a broken vertebrae in his neck. I hope that isn't true.

I haven't made it to a meet yet this year, but I'm going to make every effort to be at this tourney. I'm going to be very upset if I don't get to see Stahl vs. Corpe.

Awood1 was telling me the other day that he took awood1b to a novice tourney that was "at least 30% girls". There's your answer to title IX.

It's an awesome photo. I do wish they had left out the picture of the chicken that is head scissoring the skeleton though. I'm not sure that should be included in the best "sports" photos.

I can't believe no one mentioned this! Who has ever put a bathroom scale in the kitchen at Thanksgiving? Was your favorite Xmas gift ever the movie Vision Quest? I think everyone in my family has a copy of that movie.
Sort of. I keep buying it, and it keeps coming up missing. I'll have to try again.

Just so you know, some of that sticks with you at least into your thirties. It doesn't matter how much you distance yourself from the sport. I had to chuckle at the cradle comment. I've put my girlfriend, and even my dog in a cradle just because.

I think they just took a barely interesting fight, and made it less interesting. One fighter is coming out of hiding, and the other is coming off of back surgery. After the fight Joe Rogan will proclaim, "________ is back ladies and gentleman". All we're going to find out is who's injury did the most damage. Was it Tito's back surgery after fathering twins with a porn star, or the bruised ego of Forrest Gump? Don't get me wrong, I like Forrest, but I'd rather see him fight someone that might actually give me a vague idea of whether or not Forrest has his head on straight.

Dana White is a crybaby who likes to verbally attack people!
Haha...you just Dana White'd Dana White.

Somebody said no to The Oprah. I predict weight gain.

The article was great. Congratulations.
I didn't click on the link for the first couple of days because it looked as if the thread had been started by a sERiAl KIlLer, but I'm glad you guys tested it out. It was worth a read.

Haha...you've beat me to the post. It's getting a little ridiculous, but there are a few celebs out there that claim to have been training MMA for years. There are only a handful that I would like to see fight. The first that I'd like to see fight would be Kevin James (Paul Blart - Mall Cop). I hear he's pretty into it. I'd also like to see Joe Rogan fight. I did see him tap out a fan repeatedly that had talked ***potty mouth*** on myspace, and I saw him rough up a contestant on Fear Factor, but I want to see him in a real fight. If we can't get him in a real fight, then lets offer Carlos Mencia enough money to get in the cage with him. Finally, Shaq claims to train MMA. I honestly think he would be terrible, but I could be wrong.

That was a dud of a fight. I'm not a Kimbo fan, but after seeing "Big Country" and how he carries himself I found myself cheering for Kimbo. He's a little off, but seems like a good guy. I just can't wrap my head around his lack of wrestling ability. I'm not even sure if I can call it wrestling ability, but basic instincts on the ground. I know that Big Country is a fat dude, but how hard is it to get your hips up off the mat when he's laying on your face?
I honestly think that Kimbo has been told by so many people that his ground game stinks, that he just plays dead on bottom and hopes to be stood up. He tries to defend takedowns, and kudos for that, but he has an off switch on his back. Maybe Rampage isn't the guy to be coaching Kimbo. He needs to spend six months just wrestling, and gaining a little bit of confidence.

Bad timing. My girlfriend's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. So, this weekend I will be part of team, "save second base", in Chicago's walk 4 hope. I have to keep my donations going in that direction until we meet our goal.

BTW...this weeks score? 69-28! 27-0 after the 1st Qtr. Highlight of the night? Your nephew loses his helmet on a kick-off and proceeds another 20 yds. up field to make the tackle w/o a lid on (and a broken finger)!
HAHA...when is Awood4 going to hop on here, and straighten things out. He's a beast. How's Eli doin'?

Don't look at me. I didn't do it! :

WOW...times sure have changed since I wrestled in the early 90's. No offense, but Penn wasn't exactly a wrestling powerhouse. That's great for wrestling though.
Your kidding right ? Penn made it to Team State in 96,97 and 98 . I think Penn owned Mishawaka for much of the 90's . Penn is in most years a top 5-10 team . The last couple years have been a struggle . The cupboard was bare when Harper took over , due in large part to tranfers , and kids not sticking with the program . That all is changing rapidly , just look at the size of the Penn wrestling club .
LOL...I don't know how the educational program works there, but at Elkhart Memorial "the early 90's" doesn't refer to 96, 97 or 98. We would refer to that as the late 90's.

If Harper's team beats Mishawaka, doesn't Mishawaka still get the win? Seriously though, who's going to be the first to put money on this?
NO , When Mishawaka shut out Penn 2 years ago , using 4 former Penn wrestlers , Penn couldn't claim victory . It will be nice when the day comes that the Cavemen have to rely on only their homegrown wrestlers .
They were shut out, and we're debating 4 wrestlers?

I thought that both guys should have lost last night, but if I had to call a winner it wouldn't have Shiver. He scored two takedowns, but didn't do any damage. He was almost out at one point, but his opponent was too busy catching his breath to capatilize. If they were both in shape, I think Shiver would have either be TKO'd or his leg would have given out eventually. He didn't have any answer for that leg kick other than a straight right with no power on it.
As for Kimbo losing his first fight, I'm not sure if it would hurt rating all that much. He'll still be in the house. I know someone leaked the result of his first fight. Dana admitted to that, but they were quick to leak alternate results through other sources to cause confusion. I'm not sure what to believe at this point. One rumor has Kimbo going to the quarter finals. Either way, he isn't going to win the entire thing.

Board is dead. So try this one.
Name Indiana's only seven time IHSAA state champ.
TheAncientElder (TAE)
The Imperial Potentate and Grand Poobah of Classless wrestling in Indiana.
I wear my Fez with pride.
Was it you?

I heard this on ESPN, and almost crapped myself. They say he is going to make his debut in 2010. There's a part of me that hopes he changes his mind before then. I'm just not keen on the idea of a 47-48 year old man fighting his first MMA fight.

sentimental favorite is coleman. ncaa champ, i hope he kicks the stuffing out of tito.
Amen brother. If I have to see Tito in another, "Beat him into retirement", shirt, I'll start training now so I can fight Tito when he's 50 years old.
