  2. I know a lot of people have been asking why Reece isn't on the World Team and I just wanted to clarify.

The New Rule: If a former world team member wins an elite international tournament (Bunch won Medved) the previous year, and loses in the finals the following year at the World Team Trials, then that wrestler still has a chance to be on the world team if they medal higher at a specified tournament (Ukraine) than the wrestler they lost to in the trials.

It is my understanding for this new rule is because too many US team members were performing poorly internationally while those who did not make the team, would have done better at these international tournaments.

I can tell you that Reece, Jordin, Jim all agree with the rule even though it means Reece has to beat Bunch again. The rule is to create the best World Team possible. However, this rule also means that Reece is the first person EVER to win the World Team Trails and not be on the World Team LOL!

  3. We all know that staying fit and finding others to wrestle during the summer season is difficult. We decided to have a camp right in the middle of the summer to keep Indiana wrestlers in shape and competing! As an added bonus, we are making the camp FREE if you sign up to become a Humphrey Wrestling member for the month of July. That gives you and entire month of practices twice a week, plus a 4-day training camp for only $79! The 4-day training camp alone is $49

We encourage coaches and parents to attend!

Camp information can be found here: http://humphreywrestling.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_5&products_id=36

You can pay for the camp or monthly memberships online at HumphreyWrestling.com

If you have any question, Just ask!

  4. When the kids use practice to cut weight is when it crosses the line. Throwing on three layers of sweats and drilling to lose weight, not get better, is when it becomes too much. I know when I was competing at the high school level - I talked to my coach, discussed what weight would be best for the team and myself, then started dieting and running about two months before the season to get my weight under control. It made that first weigh-in of the season so much easier. By the time the two lbs. allowance came into play, I was naturally that weight.
