Do people really think Knura can capture a state title for the Grizzley Cubs next year? Me personal with his size and his work ethic i think that he will win a state title for himself next year! He has a great story if everybody knew it they woulda been cheering for him at state! Just another on of the Great Bob Hassman's projects that as tough as they come! Whats all your thoughts?
Awesome to see him do so well at State. You can see he has a lot of talent and potential that he hasn't even found yet, when he does, look out. I think he has a great shot at doing something special in the next couple of years as long as he works hard.

Should be some great wrestling. Purdue is improving with each match. Coach Hinkel really has Purdue heading in the right direction. They will be making some noise in the coming years with the foundation he has with his freshmen and sophomores.

There are no facilities as good as Roberts Stadium south of Indy. Assembly Hall is not as good as Roberts. Seating is not nearly as good and I bet there isn't as much floor space. Most IU fans even agree that the seating is sub-standard. Not only that, IU probably isn't going to give you that building during basketball season. There isn't one high school gym with the abilty to hold the semi-state to the current standard.
Yeah, seating in Assembly Hall in Bloomington sucks. No matter what you are watching.

Seymour is more centrally located? From where? What map are you looking at?
It's a three-hour trip from Evansville which is what some teams have to travel now. How is that more centrally located? The AD at Seymour didn't want to host it anymore and gave it up. The seating for teams was horrible. They used to pull out about three rows of bleachers on floor. That was never enough.
Before that, the semistate was held at Bloomington North HS, with it being at Bloomington South one year. Still a three-hour trip from E'ville.
I'm more than a bit prejudiced but when the semistate moved to Evansville, I think the attendance increased therefore providing more revenue. I don't think the IHSAA (I know that's a dirty word right now) will move it as long as that keeps up. I don't know where they'll hold it after the new arena is done, but I hope it never leaves.
You need to take a look at a map and also note Y2's comment. Not a huge fan of Seymour's seating, but it is so much better location wise than Evansville is if you look at all the teams and where they come from that wrestle at the Seymour SS. This site needs to be reviewed again and maybe find something a halfway between Indy and Evansville.

Once again, the Mooresville Sectional dominates this regional.
-
With all due respect to the people of Greencastle, please move this regional from this school. The clocks/lack there of match clocks were terrible and you couldn't hear either horn. They didn't show the period and they obviously have never had big matches like this with the people they had running the clocks. I know it isn't easy to run a wrestling tournament, but come on, that was team regionals with a trip to state on the line!!! Move that regional somewhere else next year.

****I posted this in the College section two hours ago and it had 9 views so I thought I would re-post it here where it would recieve a bit more traffic......
Feb. 5, 2010
Purdue will be hosting Wisconsin Friday evening at 7:00
When Purdue releases an article discussing the match-up, I will link it here.
What a great opportunity to watch some exceptional wrestling the night before regionals.
This should be awesome. Purdue has a great facility and an up and coming team. We all know what Wisconsin has. Howe might be on his way to a national title this year.
-
I think the Evansville Semi-State at 135 is going to be awesome also.
Barlow got beat by Van Horn,
Weekly took Barlow into OT (the only time i watched) and he has beat Van Horn
Weekly got beat by Weinzapfel (not in the tournament series any longer)
Ruegger has beat Weinzapfel and handled the match each time, Ruegger hasn't lost in Indiana,
There is also Rassbach who has had some tight matches with Van Horn,
Not to mention Konrath who is very impressive.
I agree. 135 SS in Evansville is wide open with what took place last night at team regionals. Tight matches all around.
-
Barlow (B-South) 30-0 with 23 pins
Not anymore. Van Horn beat him 8-5 at Greencastle team regional.
-
Kids from the Mooresville sectional will dominate this regional as usual. Some things never change.
-
It starts at 8.
Should be some awesome wrestling. Holt will be very tough as usual. Should be some really good individual and team matchups all day.
-
Another great tournament at Mater Dei. Some great wrestling on both days with some very interesting and competitive matches. Congrats to all the wrestlers.
Too bad it is all being taken out of context by a few poor representatives from a few schools. Mater Dei fans and some of the competitors need to tone down the immaturity just a bit. There were some questionable calls with the officiating, especially in favor of one team, but you will have that where ever you wrestle. Let it be decided on the mat to where it doesn't matter what calls are made.
-
I believe 10:30 Tuesday morning and 8:30 on Wednesday morning. Should be some great wrestling.
Top 4 teams in no particular order:
Union County
Franklin Community
Mater Dei
Trinity
There is going to be some really good matches in the lower weights at this tournament.
-
Should be a great tournament. I look for Trinity and Franklin Community to make some noise. Would be nice to see someone knock off Mater Dei at their own tournament.
-
Franklin should win this hands down. I really think their coach has them clicking. They have wrestled some stiff competition early in the year that will pay off this weekend and the rest of the year. Should be some great wrestling all day.
-
Thanks for the rankings Decbell. I enjoy checking them out each week. Can totally appreciate how you rank them and not looking at the previous weeks rankings, but instead looking at who wrestled who and how they performed. I think your rankings are pretty much dead on as usual. Thanks again!

Chico would take Chalfant
-
Nice job Eppert on the grades. Keep it up.
-
Amen. This is high school, not college. Teach the kids how it should be done, they are teenagers.
-
Tsirtsis and Runyan
-
The stalling call on Eppert was ridiculous. He should have won in regulation.
-
Tsirtsis and Runyan without a doubt.

Boilermakers looked really good. Definitely a program on the up and up. Look out for them this year and in the years to follow. Coach Hinkel is quietly putting together a nice program.
