  1. We are taking a team to Kingsport TN again this year. You must be in fifth grade or below and born on or after 2001. You must meet both requirements. I am in need of the following weight classes 125,135,190 and 230. This tournament is very tough. We have a solid team and looking to add some more solid wrestlers. The cost is around $150 plus travel. The dates are April 12th through April 14th. We will get at least nine matches over the three days. Please email me or call me if you are interested.

  2. We have started an advanced pay club in southeastern Indiana.  We currently have 40 members and are looking to grow.  Right now this would only be for Middle School and Elementary aged wrestlers.  A few things that seperate us from other clubs/academys is that you pay for 8 practices and you get eight practices.  You can come and go as you please.  Even if you belong to other clubs please feel free to join.  We have a great group of kids ranging from 40 pounds to 180 pounds.  Most of which are State Champs and or National place winners.  This club will provide you excellent partners to take your skill to the next level.  I am limiting this to 20 more wrestlers to fill the room.  The cost is $100 for eight practices.  The practices are held at Columbus East High School.  We usually go one weekend day and two during the week.  During the week we start at 6:30pm and on weekend we start at 5:00pm.  In the near future I am going to go one day a week on the northeast side of Indianapolis as well.  If you have any questions or would like to join please contact me.  Thanks,

  3. Great job to all.

I would like to acknowledge Ray Rioux and Carson Brewer. These boys started wrestling 6 years ago at the Avon Wrestling Club.  They both struggled greatly for their first couple of years. They both have worked their butts off to become very solid wrestlers and even better youngmen. Ray and Carson became the Town of Avon's second and third triple crown winners on the same day (Garrett Williamson was first). We all are very proud of them. Hard work pays off.

Also, I would like to acknowledge that 7 of the 25 triple crown winners workout at the Contenders Wrestling Academy.  Ryan Parrish does an awesome job with his youth wrestlers. His program is growing and getting stronger every month! The kids that attend, work hard and have a lot of fun. It has been impressive to see.

    Again, congrats to all.

Congrats to Carson and Ray.  You both had a great a great run!

  5. Wow! Doing well! Shame we have two separate great teams with Gold & Outlaws....could have one amazing team...Plus kids wrestling for Ohio in Iowa and kids at Nuway...if they could all get on the same page Indiana could prove just how good we really are...Maybe they should have a selection committee, members from various areas, voting, etc...rather than a few great wrestlers here, a few there, a few studs on this team, a few on that team...

Maybe someday...Go Team Indiana / Go Outlaws!

Indiana represented themselves very well!  Kids were very competitive and even better they were the most well behaved teams in the tournament.  All of the tournament officals were very impressed with the following that Indiana had at this tournament.  With that being said I am very confident that if we had the best Indiana wrestler at each and every weight we still do not beat the likes of Iowa and or Illinois United.  The thing about it is that these teams are ot as talented as our teams.  They are just very fundumentally sound.  The Outlaws were shut out by Iowa Black but we had six matches decided by one point and three others that were decided by two.  If we made mistakes we paid for it as they capitalized on every one of them.  Iowa makes a huge deal of this tournament each and every year.  They have a tournament where this team is decided and it is a goal of each and every wrestler to make this team as an elementary age wrestler.  In our dual you saw nothing but singles, doubles, hooks and halfs.  Every kid did the exact same thing actually very boring but equally as affective.  I do not not have the answers on how we beat teams of this calibur but I applaud the efforts of the ISWA as this is the highest Indiana has ever placed in there first season taking a team.  Matt Brewer did a heck of a job getting this put together.  Hats off to him and all of the Indiana contingent it was a great time!

  7. I am also taking a team down to Kingsport this year just as I have in years past.  I need some help at the bigger weight classes.  The cost of trip which includes singlet, shorts, tee shirt, warm up top and entry fee is $125.  Last year our team ended up fifth at this tournament.  If you have never been it is bar none the best elementary dual tournament that I have ever been to.  Teams throughout the United States will be there.  Competition is great and the venue is spectacular.  The weights I am looking for are as follows:

    108

    116

    135

    148

    HWT (230 max)

You also must be in fifth grade and below and born in 2000 or after.  Please call or email me if you are interested.

  8. Here is my two cents worth.  You give each team two wildcard (anywhere in Indiana) kids and you knock the forfeits down to three points a piece.  It is not a perfect system because some teams may choose to give up the three points instead of putting an inexperienced wrestler on the mat but this would eliminate any "broken rules".  It was a great tournament and I applaud all of the people who were involved in putting this tournament together.  The final match was about as exciting as an elementary dual could be unless of course several people get thrown out!

  9. I will add a few more that I know.

    Nicolas Castelluccio-5th

    Ryan Hammond-1st

    Kaden McConnell-3rd

    Jacob Obst-3rd

I probably missed a few too but it was a very long day.  I want to give special recognition to Mason Parris as he was voted as one of the four tournament/dual outstanding wrestlers.  This kid has been on my team for the last three years.  Everytime he steps on the mat he gives 110%.  Off the the mat he is an outstanding young man and an excellent student.  All of the kids look up to him as a leader and competitor.  Great Job Mason!

  10. We are back to needing 105,115, 140 and HWT (200 max) sixth grade and under.  Oh the fun of filling elementary school division!  If you know anyone who would be interested please let me know.  This is a great dual tournament and the Dixie Duals are the following day!

  11. We are in need of a few weight classes to fill our Dixie Duals teams.  The only requirement is that the wrestler must be in K through 6th grade.  I need the following weight classes: 45, 50, 105, 115 and 125.  I am taking two pretty solid teams down to Atlanta on December 28th.  The Dixie Nationals is the next day on December 29th.  Both are very good tournaments and a lot of fun.  Please let me know if you are interested.

  12. I see it like this, just like any other business it is survival of the fittest.  "The cream always rises to the top".  Why not have a little competition, it has never hurt anyone.  I have always been a big fan if ISWA but during our four year stint in Michigan I saw a lot of things that would be beneifical to any state.  A few things I liked about Michigan were that they had paid offcials at every tournament.  Too many kids calling the shots in Indiana.  I like the fact that they had a group of pairing folks that did every tournament. We have way too many club volunteers pairing a tournament.  First and foremost was the cost involved wrestling in Michigan compared to Indiana.  This past year I spent well over $300 for two weekends of our state tournament and did not stay in a hotel.  In Michigan I would have spent $200 and spent the weekend at a hotel.  I know "Why don't you move back to Michigan if it is so great" well it is not an opition.  I would just like some of these ideas to get some serious consideration in the years to come.  Wrestling has had a huge impact on my life and I would hate to lose some future champions because of the issues I have stated above.  As they say on TV "Jus sayin"
