who is matched against whom? i haven't been around wrestling in a few years and i don't see much info on the team match ups yet.

how about team scores? i know logan was ahead to start the finals but i left before the final scores were announced.

The frontier kid at 145 is indeed a pretty decent wrestler and has a very good chance of winning this one. I also wouldnt be surprused to see akers from pioneer upset eceryone here. Hes wrestled well of late and came very close to beating the frontier kid the first time. (It was a different story the next time but akers is that way) akers is a pinner who can catch anyone from anywhere so dont be surprised to see him pull off the upset

106- johnson
126-Johnson with the upset of the day
138 i think unemployed has 145 confused with 138 but i do agree that the NW kid, Holeman i believe is his name should win this one
160-Polen with the second best upset of the day
other than those i agree mostly with unemployed
220 WC kid
MVW-126 Johnson for the big upset
coach of the year-NW as i think they might upset WC (and by think i mean hope because upsets are more fun)
as for the wrestling being bad, why do you seem so knowledgeable about the area if you think the wrestling in the area is so bad? why don't you go watch some other kids wrestle?

on 1. sometimes the style of wrestler can change your decision on this, but I usually agree with you. If for instance you're not great on bottom but a great rider and you defer the other kid is almost always going to pick down and then you don't have to risk being placed in the down position as well as you get added information for your third period choice. (i was one of these wrestlers. I was very difficult to take down but was usually a bit too conservative to get a take down myself but I was awful from bottom in matches. Quite the different story in practice but that's a different story.) If your coach knows you are this type of wrestler then it makes sense to defer. If you ride him out for a period and don't score and don't threaten to score then maybe you try bottom or more than likely try neutral or top again to try to score.
2. Good point that kids need to be aware of the consequences of a second injury time-out but sometimes it just happens.
3. totally agree.

I'm glad you brought this up. This certainly hasn't been discussed on here before, and I'm certain that you're eloquently phrased and constructed argument has persuaded all to your side.

I don't think you're missing something as i see it too. I'm guessing floyd is supposed to be conseco bound and gregory is supposed to be the bracket buster judging by the fact that none of his predicted conseco bound people would meet floyd before the semis and gregory and coppinger would be wrestling in the ticket round.

I went and looked at the number of qualifiers we've had since redrawing the sectionals to what they are now and it seems like we get about 6-8 guys to state a year. I was just skimming the brackets really quickly though so i may have missed a few here and there but it seems about right. I was going to go further back but I was a junior in high school the first time they redrew the sectionals and hadn't really paid attention to who was at the regional yet so I don't remember who all was there. 7-8 guys isn't great but it's not horrible considering most of our teams from our regional are 1 or 2 a and some of them, like frontier, haven't even had teams until just recently. I think the area can definitely do better and I think they will do better in the next few years as long as good coaches like coach Spray stick around.

Great information Tim. I'm curious as to how many other regionals have 9 1a schools in them and 4 2a schools.
to mad-how can you think winamac did like you expected when you have a man crush on their heavyweight and thought that he deserved to be on the podium at state? It's hard for someone to be on the podium at state when you get pinned in the first round of regionals. Yea, you are clearly looking really intelligent here mad.
Wortie- Clearly you've never been a part of a small program if you think coaches working harder or kids working harder is possible. If you really think that this is possible maybe you should go help out a small program and really see the hoops these coaches have to jump through and how hard these coaches work.
