  1. How about this for team state.

Take top two teams from four sectionals for eight regionals, each run as an individual tourney.

Then take top team from each regional for an 8 team individual tourney to determine the team state champion.

Or put a semi-state individual tourney in between regionals and state, with top two teams from each of four regionals at each of two semi-states.

This would take into consideration the breadth and depth of the teams.

  2. I've been looking at the results from all the SS tourneys, and am surprised at how many wrestlers won by pinning all four opponents. I don't know if this statistic is tracked, to see how many each year do that. Quite an accomplishment considering about 80 schools are represented at each SS.

  3. From the New Albany newsandtribune website:

Bloomington South won the Jeff Classic with 289 points. Jennings County finished second with 217 1/2 points, followed by Louisville St. Xavier (182 1/2), No. 17 Muncie South (141 1/2) and Madison (139 1/2).

Jeff finished the highest among the four area squads in the team standings. The Red Devils were sixth with 134 points.

New Albany wound up ninth as a team with 105 1/2 points. Charlestown finished 11th with 86 points. New Washington ended up 13th with 77 1/2 points.
