Congratulations to Kaylee Cobbs of Ossian!  She is the official Winner of the 2014 Pick-The-Champions Contest.  She correctly picked  10  winners.  5 other people also picked 10 , but she broke the tie by being closest to the winning score of Cathedral. 5 of the 6 people picked Cathedral and Kaylee guessed 70 points.  The next person guessed 85 pts.

Mat Burns Wrestling News & Information once again will host its Annual "Pick-The-Champions" Contest.  The Winner  will Win 2 tickets to the 2015 State Meet.  Last years winner was Steve Brooks from Charlottesville.  He  will be out to be first Back-To-Back Champion.   

It is an easy contest.  1. Pick who You think will win each weight class.  2. Pick who you think will win the Team Title and their Point total. 3. Pick who you think will be Team runner-Up and their Point total.

4. Be Sure to add YOUR First & Last Name to your entry.  5. Make sure to put your Phone Number or E-Mail so you can be contacted if you are the winner.

  COPY the Entry form (the stuff below the dotted line) to your Word Processor and make as many copies as you want.  Send the Entry Form to your Friends , Neighbors and other Wrestling Fans.  If you would like an "Official entry form" like the ones that will be at the State Meet , send me a request to me at my e-mail and I will send you a Form.

This is the 30th annual addition of the "Pick-The-Champions" contest.  Most of the winners have come from the Bellmont Area with the Evansville Area right behind in winners.  ENTRIES are DUE by Saturday Feb. 22nd by 9:00am. Jason Tsirtsis' Tech Fall of 2:47 is ranked #1 at 145 at the STATE MEET.

Old State Meet Best for 145 was  3:49  by Tim Burbee of Valparaiso in 1986.

Jason also had a  2 Tech Fall total time of 8:22 which is the First time that has been done at 145 at the State Meet.

at 120 -  Brenden Campbell of New Castle had a  3 Pin Total Time of  4:28.  This is the best at  120 for a 3 Pin Total Time at the State Meet.

Old  3 Pin Best at 120 was  6:28 by Deron Phillips of South Bend LaSalle in 1988.

at 195 - Mitch Sliga of Fishers.  His 0:31 sec. Pin is the fastest at 195 at the State Meet.

His  2  Pin Total Time of  1:18  is the Fastest  2 Pin Total at 195 at the State Meet.

His  3  Pin Total Time of 4:38  is the Fastest  3 Pin Total at 195 at the State Meet.

Congratulations to  JEREMIAH  MAGGART of West Lafayette -and former Penn Wrestler- on WINNING the 2012 Pick-The-Champions Contest.  Jeremiah was the ONLY person to have  12  Champions Correct of the 80 Entries.  He will have  2  tickets to the 2013 State Meet waiting on him next February.  Congratulations Jeremiah.

There were  2  Runners-up.  Earl Fleener of Indianapolis  and  Mat Burns editor Richard Jay  both had  11  correct Chanps.

And Yes, I agree with some of the e-mails.  There will be Paper Entries next year AT the State Finals.  BUT, more people will have to have entries turned in at the State Finals.  We will still take the entries on line , but we'll have the entries at the Fieldhouse in 2013.
